  • One of our colonies swarmed on us, but luckily we recovered the swarm off a nearby tree. There probably was a better way of doing this, but we wanted to handle the swarm quickly without needing to make another trip to this location.

When I feel 5-6 stings in an instant, it is every man for himself. I don't have to outrun the bees, just my brother.
One for the blooper reel for sure.

Welp, this was a graphic illustration of an answer to my question, "what happens if you mass-attacked while working on the bees?" "You run away and take the L...." LOL Thanks again for another interesting video, hope it all works out and they stick around. And, sorry about that L....LOL

Haha that's great - thanks for the video idea I guess :) We knew we were in for it, but wanted to take care of it right then, so grit the teeth and git'r'done

@@HiddenSpringApiaries ;-) I'm going to cross my fingers that you get the swarm domesticated and producing honey!!

Badly managed, little protection against unnecessary stinging, uncoordinated and unsafe. Bang the lid on the swarm with no regard to damage caused to the bees. Other than that it was perfect. 2/10 Must try harder.

I'll mostly agree with that - there were plenty of things that could have been done better here. Sometimes we don't get it right, but those can be the most informative videos we make. The only part of your comment I don't agree with is the "badly managed" part - we did swarm prevention in the early spring and also did a swarm prevention split on this colony - sometimes bees swarm even though you do everything you're supposed to.
