5:52 Persian notation & presentation demonstration on oud
7:53 Symbols used in Persian notation & demonstration on oud
12:16 My take on all these differences
Fantastic Bayate-Tork in the beginning. I admire your efforts in supporting the wider Oud community. Having played a significant body of oud pieces from various cultures, you are firmly positioned to recommend revisions on how notes could be better written for improved clarity. Great efforts, Navid; keep going. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for your comment Ali.
This is a veritable gold mine of information comparing and contrasting notation and associated performance practices. Thank you for so generously sharing your expansive knowledge and rich experience Navid! Love that Persian piece, too!
I don't play oud, mostly mandolin type instruments, but I still appreciate these videos! I'm always interested to hear about how other people think about musicianship regardless of what instruments they play. Victor Wooten said a string is a string. They physics works the same way independent of the instrument
Thanks for following.
merci, super
Thank you 🙏🏿
Andre Al Msann, the lebanses oud player and instructer has 2 books of a total 400 papers of very well ornomented music for oud
Excellent, his work ought to be more well known. Thanks for letting me know about his work
Random question: The shape of the Necati Çelik signature mızraps seems to fit my hands better, but I've started preferring the sound I get from softer silicone mızraps. Do you have any recommendations for silicone mızraps with that more slender shape?
I've often wondered what material these soft white and black ones are. It doesn't resemble silicone to me? Send me an email to support@oudforguitarists.com with a picture of these silicone ones you speak of because I don't know them.

This is honestly very interesting but also way beyond my league.
