Great video and explanation! I have a few of your pots. I inherited them from Peter Adams' wife Kate, that passed away about 4 years ago in 2020. They are my cherished pots and it's quite fun to see you in the making process.
That's right - the way I've shown you with the scratching creates its own "slip" when the water is added and the foot is rubbed down and vibrated on the base of the pot.

Thanks for your kind comments and delighted that you have some of my pots.
Thanks for your time and effort to show your expertise. I'm an amateur potter, and you have given me lots of tips and ideas with your videos.🤜🏼🤛🏼
You are so welcome!
Your videos are stellar. Your actions while working on the pots are very calming. Can’t wait to see your Bonsai in your pots!
Thanks for your kind comments - most of the pots I make these day are for commissions.
Brilliant can’t take my eyes off your work 😎
Thank you so much 😀
Wow, lots of info in one video, wish I saw how you built that pot, carved or slabbed, I am mostly building Mame and Shohin pots
95 % of my pots are "coil" constructed. I very rarely make slabbed pots and only occasionally carve pots.
Thanks for this Dan, it's a great help. We need more🔥
More on the way soon.
Would love to see the finished pot
It's posted somewhere on my website but I don't know exactly where - sorry I can't be more helpful
Very interesting video, thank you 😊
Please post more videos. Have fun doing so.
Will most certainly do so.
I certainly will - Thanks for viewing
Wow. No slip just plain water.

…….. awesome video, thanks for sharing!
thanks for your kind comments
Thank you for this video. Very informative.
Thanks for viewing - there'll be plenty more to follow
Thanks for your instructions sir
You are welcome
Dan, I love your videos! Thank you so much. I love the qualities of your clay body. It seems to be coarsely grogged. Am I correct?
Hi Nathan, yes the clay that I use is a Potclays product: Craft Crank 1114 and is fairly heavily grogged by the manufacturers, not me.
What kind of clay are you using? Looks great!
I use a stoneware "Craft Crank" from Potclays and fir to 1223C and soak for 35mins
