Hi Marty, I did replace the tailgate motor and it worked great. The only thing that wasn’t mentioned in the video or maybe it was just specific to my case is that after installation I had to close the tailgate so that it would engage and start working again. So now I can open it with the Key fob as well as the button inside the car, but we still can’t figure out why can’t get the tailgate to come up automatically if we touch the button on the trunk lid. It would only unlock and we could pull it up manually, but at least it works from the inside, power tailgate button as well as the key fob button. Thanks.
Thanks Marty, very good description. I've been struggling with my liftgate some months. Now I found out that the rod between gearwheel and opening mechanism is broken. Why - it is very robust. Simple detail, but I maybe need to acquide a "new" complete mechanism for 170 dollar. There are four bolts holding the mechanism. Left back is harder to see - but it is there.
Great video I’m considering a 2004-2009 RX basically 2nd gen I heard both the 330 and 350 are reliable but the 330 just needs timing belt every 90-100k miles
Yup, you’re exactly right. My mother has the RX330 and loves it - only thing that happened to it is the alternator went bad. My girlfriend just got this used RX 350 and it’s more powerful, has a timing chain and I believe dual injection like my IS350!
good job! could have been a little cleaner with the fingerprints, lol. they are hard to get out of the headliner material. Thanks for helping everyone out!
Marty - Many Thanks. I'm now there with my 2005 RX 330. It's a lot of fun when you command it to open and as soon as you stick your body in, it starts beeping and closing. LOL Nice one Toyota...
You mean you didn't wait for it to go up all the way and it sensed an issue and came back down? Or do you mean it was open for a while and out of nowhere, started coming down on you? Either way, it's not big deal. If it touched you, it would stop. It's not like a vicious monster that's going to eat you.
Marty, I have a question. My rear hatch intermittently doesn't work. When I press the button it starts to operate, but stops either way I using it. In the closed position it will raise about 6 inches and then close itself. the same thing happens happens when I try to bring it down from the open position. Any ideas?
So my lift will close perfectly with the button and if something gets in the way it will automatically go back up but doesn't go up without me pushing it up..any advice?
I enjoyed your video, thanks alot, pls I need your help bcoz my rear door won't open while the engine is running even when it's on park and central lock is open. It could be open only when the engine is turn off
Good video, it was very useful to me, I need the link to purchase🙏🏽

Hi Marty, sorry to bother you, I was just wondering if you could help me with something: my rx400h has the same power liftgate and the motor closes the trunk fine, it just can't open it. Do you think the motor is shot or is it just the struts that need replacing? Did your trunk still close before replacing the motor or was all of it completely inoperable? Thanks a lot!
I have a 2005 RX330, the latches on both sides will not release. Auto place said it will be a couple hundred to go in and diagnose properly and probably another grand for parts and then labor (said they fixed the same problem on another car like mine not long ago). Are there any aftermarket parts and what might be the solution for the side catches to release? HOW will I get the hatch to open to even work on it?
Hello if we remove the motor, will that stop all beeping sound because hatch is slightly open and can't close all the way??? Cause that's what we want. No Beeping
Thanks for the video. I tried to replace mine but the motor can't be detached after removing the 4 screws. How many screws did you remove? any hidden one? Thanks
There's a little semi circular piece of metal in a groove which holds the motor in place once you remove all the bolts - i guess to stop it simply from crashing down - just twist the motor assembly and it will release
Well, the strut will be loose and the door will feel heavy. Replacing the strut is a good place to start and much cheaper, because it probably needs to be done anyway after 11 years. of use
@@KikitheBarber Yes, it's the starting battery voltage is low and cannot open. When the engine is started and charging the battery the back door is open without problem.
When you diagnosed it being the motor, was it being responsive to you pressing the power door button on your keys or on the dash? Did it make the 3 beeps or do anything? How did you diagnose it exactly? Thanks! :)

The button on the trunk stopped working. The button near the driver worked on and off. And the keyfob was also intermittent. The door would go up, beep, make a clicking sound and go back down. Struts were good so it had to be motor/electronic related.
Marty Motoring yea I went by the remote starter guys they seemed to fix it for now but if there’s anymore continuous issue I’ll just replace the motor sounds like it’s struggling
I pulled out the motor and hooked it up to the 12vDC and it operates fine, fuse is good. Mine doesn't even do the safety beeps and is none responsive. What's roll does the remote starter play guys? Thanks!
Nice, my mom's Power Rear Door just started having issues. I'm trying to figure out what exactly is going on. The symptoms are: 1. It opens just fine, with the long beeps that are probably just over a second long 2. When it gets to the top, it closes kinda fast on its own with short beeps. It doesn't even stay up. Is this also the motor?
Is it possible to just shut it all down and open the hatch by hand like people have done since the beginning of time. I like things simple like the 1980s
@@MartyMotoring I have checked it. And it's not a correct one. So I found a comment up above and he/she got it right. This should be the right one. Part 68910-0E014
We have a 2004 RX 330 that we replaced the struts on. Now we have an issue where the trunk will beep twice and then will stop and won’t close. You think it’s the motor also?
Marty, the rear hatch of my Lexus Rx330 has absolutely no problem closing. However when the rear hatch is closed and I press the "open" button, it sometimes open with no problem but sometimes starts to open and then closes fully. Could the problem be the struts instead of the rear hatch motor?
Hey there! Sounds like the sam problem this was having. But start with the struts since they are cheaper, as it could be they aren’t supporting the hatch enough
My trunk lid goes down/closes properly using the trunk button and the one on the inside of the car. But does not open like this video. Does that mean the motor is still bad?
