I grew up watching these on TV, was 4-5 year old when these were aired in my country and today I still remember at 41. So sad she passed away. May she rest in peace. Thanks for the joy you brought to my childhood Shelley ❤
when i was a kid my mom would rent these movies from the library on VHS for me on the weekend and when i was home from school sick. they always helped me feel better. so many happy memories with my mom thanks to these movies :)
R.I.P., Shelley Duvall😢. I loved this series when I was little. Shelley was so sweet & pretty. She was also great as Olive Oyl in "Popeye". When I got old enough for horror films, I found her role as Wendy Torrance in "The Shining" outstanding. Thank you, Shelley...
Omg... he asked her if she wanted his "Cucumber!" Bahahahaaa!!! I love how you don't notice the adult humor when you're a kid! They used to show this on the Disney channel! 😂
Shelly, you were such a wonderful person. Thank for these beautiful fairy tale production. May your spirit guides and angels accompany you during your transition from lufe to death. You will be dearly missed✨️
Every Sunday afternoon together with my sister we used to watch this show. We we're 12-10 years old then. It brings back haapy memories. And now I want my 5 year old nephew to watch this too. Thanks for uploading this!
Too slow for today. Kids get accustomed to much more fast paced programming. I introduced several childhood movies and programs to my nieces back in 2009, and they were antsy and bored. I think they even fell asleep. Lol
This was the very first one that I watched as a kid! I didn't know who she was until I read a biography about Robin Williams and that they were friends!
I loved this show as a kid. It was dubbed to Spanish and bought several VHS. Love it. This episode is too cruel... Poor Prince, poor Rapunzel. It's too grim.
When I was a kid in the 90s we used to borrow these on vhs from the library, brings back good memories with my siblings watching all of these. So happy I can watch them again
DAMN...Jeff Bridges looking very good here!! I don't blame Rapunzel for wanting to "Juice Him " as soon as they saw each other!! That line she tells him, "You'll come at night" totally went over my head watching these as a kid😂❤
Shelley Duvall always reminds me of her iconic role as Wendy Torrance in The Shining, but it was nice to see her screenplay in a non-horror film as well. This was a cute romantic fairy tale. It has an underlying message to it, which to go out and live your life freely and don't let anyone control how you live your life. Rapunzel did just that by allowing her prince charming to come take her to live happily ever after with him because she wanted to live freely, not in a confinement. In this case, love always wins. Prince Henry's underlying message was that not all men are bad, but the witch mom was kind of right too that there are men that cheat, lie, and da da da da da. Over protective parents can be problematic. I like the music at the end when the credits start.
Rest in peace Shelly Duvall🙏. These episodes used to be aired in our country in 1987 or so, used to watch all the episodes and feel so entertained and relaxed. Nostalgic memories still afresh in minds!
I loved this movie so much when I was little. They make radishes look so good that I tried one after watching the movie. "Even a few in a chocolate fondue" Yux lol. It doesn't get more innocent then stealing a radish out of a garden. Anyway, this channel is amazing. Thanks for posting.
Most people miss the part in the beginning when there witch is stalking the pregnant wife & casts a spell to make her crave the radishes. It makes the wife's begging for random radishes much more understandable ❤ Also Shelly is a rare beauty inside & out❤❤
Jeff Bridges starred in This Faerie Tale Theater's rendition of Rapunzel first aired in 1982, that same year he starred in the Disney Sci-Fi movie, Tron.
In the original story, Rapunzel gave herself away by being pregnant and asking the witch why her clothes don't fit her anymore. Cucumber jokes and "I'm the first!" remarks are ok but not that.
In the oldest version I've read, she slipped up by asking the witch why she was so much heavier to pull up than the Prince (which would definitely be a legitimate question if not for the bad timing!) I know this is seven years later, but I'm mostly replying for other people to see :)
Thank you, UA-cam and Shelley Duval for posting my favorite childhood movie. Someday the world will be free of evil doers who abduct children and adults. -Lor-
I know right. It was just one little scene, but we remembered it for the rest of our lives. Chocolate covered radishes became a vernacular in my family every time there was a pregnancy. LOL
RIP Shelley Duvall. This has always been one of my favorite episodes. Although I will say, I feel like the romance between Rapunzel and the prince was a little rushed but I also get that's often how romantic fairy tales were like.
At 33:05 I was expecting this Rapunzel: who are you Jeff Bridges: I am the dude you know that or your dudeness or duder or el duderino if you're not into that whole brevity thing
I love this story and Shelly Duvall was an amazing and beautiful and amazing singer and actress. But if I heard a random voice in the woods out of nowhere I would RUN….R.I.P Shelly Duvall 🕊️🪽July 7th 1949-July 11 2024🕊️🪽
Rest in peace to the iconic, incomparable Shelley Duvall.
and Gena Rowlands

how do these movies remind you of your mum, may I ask?
What a sweet, beautiful and lovely story!!!! 💕💕💕
I have very similar memories of this show!
I have same memories as well. I was looking for these videos for so long... I remember as a kid being so surprised when the prince lost his sight!
I used to rent these from the library as a kid

Omg I missed that lol 😆 😂 😅
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
these days it's an eggplant 😏
No, this series ran on Showtime

"Let down your hair. I'll climb up and you can find out." hahahahaha. You could get away with so much more stuff in the 80s.
Indeed, they were very special times.
why today they cant made this kind of lovely drama anymore? beautiful. awesome.
ashique-ur-rashid al-amin good question! 👍
Too slow for today. Kids get accustomed to much more fast paced programming. I introduced several childhood movies and programs to my nieces back in 2009, and they were antsy and bored. I think they even fell asleep. Lol
@@DaveRod76 Those kids have problems.
Oh my childhood rediscovered!!! Thank you for sharing these videos!
the witch and her spooky garden scared the living crap out of me when I was a kid.
😂😂😂me too
Not as scary as those radish nightmares…..
I love fairy tales. I have been watching movies of them since I was younger.
These aired on PBS back in the day..My 2nd grade teacher used to record them and we'd watch an episode every Friday .. I can't believe I found these!
I be like "Sheeeeiit!!! You can go get them radishes ya damn self!"
i have been looking for tge fairy tales for 25 years. thank you
“A nice cucumber?!?!?!!!” Did I just witness this sentence and the frisky behaviour following it on an ‘80’s kids show?! Hahahaaa
This was the very first one that I watched as a kid! I didn't know who she was until I read a biography about Robin Williams and that they were friends!

I have loved this series since I was a child!
I used to watch these in the 90s now I'm re-watching in 2024. No need for special effects, just the simple theatrical storytelling approach.
Thank you Miss Shelly Duvall for producing these! God rest, dear Lady!! 💗🕯🌹
OMG i remember every shot of her eating the radishes after having completely forgotten this for 25 years.
Wait so the witch can stop time and teleport but she cant fly up to the freaking window
Lol
🤣. What kind of witch can't fly?
When I was a kid in the 90s we used to borrow these on vhs from the library, brings back good memories with my siblings watching all of these. So happy I can watch them again
Jeff Bridges is an amazing actor, even in this
Ironic how this was released the same year as The Last Unicorn where he also plays a Prince.
DAMN...Jeff Bridges looking very good here!! I don't blame Rapunzel for wanting to "Juice Him " as soon as they saw each other!! That line she tells him, "You'll come at night" totally went over my head watching these as a kid😂❤

She’s good in the Shining but she should have done more comedy or light hearted stuff. She does have a charming funny side
🎉a🎉
Rest in peace Shelly Duvall🙏. These episodes used to be aired in our country in 1987 or so, used to watch all the episodes and feel so entertained and relaxed. Nostalgic memories still afresh in minds!

Only to make them scary when Rapunzel's mother starts having nightmares....
Haha yes! This made me try radishes as a kid also! 😂
Me too! I had my parents get me radishes and I thought they tasted nasty
Gena Rowlands is too beautiful to be a witch cause she's like a grandma to me :)
RIP to the great and late Shelly Duvall.
Jeff Bridges as Claude is pretty much what he looks like now.
Most people miss the part in the beginning when there witch is stalking the pregnant wife & casts a spell to make her crave the radishes. It makes the wife's begging for random radishes much more understandable ❤
Also Shelly is a rare beauty inside & out❤❤
I grew up on these in the 80's. Very nostalgic to see this again. :)
Same here. I found the series on DVD and grabbed it.
The late Roddy McDowall was the narrator? Hollywood sure doesn't make celebrities like him anymore.
Russell Vawter it does sound like him
I remember these. I learned about characters and their stories this way. Wish they had these now for this generation.
Shelley Duvall was so funny as Rapunzel and her birth mother, Marie in this episode, wasn't she?
Jeff Bridges starred in This Faerie Tale Theater's rendition of Rapunzel first aired in 1982, that same year he starred in the Disney Sci-Fi movie, Tron.
And Faerie Tale Theatre's comedienne, Shelley Duvall starred in it's rendition of Rapunzel too.
Ironic how this role probably got him to be casted as another Prince in The Last Unicorn.
At least they mentioned what happened to the witch.
For some reason I totally forgot about the cannibal radish nightmare. I must have blocked it out from being traumatized :D ;)
Ikr. I was thinking the same thing
Such a radishcal scene
RIP Shelley.
Thanks for all the hours of enjoyment!
LoL, the pink cartoon blood rolling down princes eyes was creepy.
Special effects at its finest🤣🤣🤣
Rest In Peace Shelley Alexis Duvall. July 7, 1949-July 11, 2024
Rest in peace Shelly Duvall, you’ve inspired so much and I hope even with your memory it’ll continue to do the same for future generations :( 🤍🕊️
Notice how the wife baked the radish pie with the tinfoil base on it 🤣🤣🤣
Rest in peace, Shelley. 💗
I remember watching these as a kid I'm so glad I found them
I love the makeup, especially the witch's
Omg!!! Him asking her if she would like a “cucumber”… 🤣🤣🤣
Rip Shelley. You were unique and enjoyable to watch.
Thank u 4 sharing😀 Omg brings me back to my childhood
"Claude! I have to have a radish!" - Marie
For those of us that find Shelley's unique chompers a part of her beauty this is an ASMR.
Am I the only one who finds the radish theme hilarious? 😂😂😂
the radishes being next to a mandrake is very clever !
If he asked me to marry him I'd be like woah by dinner first 😂😂
Same

the witch is pretty charming
I will celebrate your life’s work today 💕 and many more days but especially today rest well queen
LOVE SHELLY AND JEFF IS LOOKING ALL HANDSOME 🙂
Rapunzel:
"What exactly is a man?"
Prince Henry: "I'll climb up you can find out".
Well, we know what comes next after that.
This brings back memories. ❤
Thank you, UA-cam and Shelley Duval for posting my favorite childhood movie. Someday the world will be free of evil doers who abduct children and adults. -Lor-
Aw Thank you so much for uploading all of these :)
Love this so much , this, Jack n the bean stalk and nightingale are my fav. remembering my childhood TV watching days.
when I was little I actually tried the radishes in chocolate bc it looked so good in this haha
I know right. It was just one little scene, but we remembered it for the rest of our lives. Chocolate covered radishes became a vernacular in my family every time there was a pregnancy. LOL
me too
I learnt about fondue from this episode
Miss you already, Shelley. RIP Princess 🙏😊❤️
Awwwwwww the babies!!!
80s-90s Jeff Bridges was truly a force to be reckoned with
This aggression will not stand man!
Whoa! This is narrated by Roddy McDowel? Fricking Mad Hatter from Batman the Animated Series?!
They foresaw what Jeff Bridges would look like in the future (see beginning :P)!
This was the golden era
"Are you sure you don't want a . . Cucumber?"
Me: 👁👄👁
The set/costume designs are based on Gustav Klimt's art :)
This one and the Frog Prince were my two favorites.
I THOUGHT THE PRINCE WAS SO SO GORGEOUS & REALLY HANDSOME & HUNKY!! I WOULD'VE MARRIED HIM IF I HAD THE CHANCE! !😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😘😘😘😘😘
Kinda ironic that he's played by Jeff Bridges who just got off playing a prince in The Last Unicorn.
RIP Shelley Duvall. This has always been one of my favorite episodes. Although I will say, I feel like the romance between Rapunzel and the prince was a little rushed but I also get that's often how romantic fairy tales were like.
I used to watch a few of these as a kid including this one.
And that radish dream was funny!
At 33:05 I was expecting this
Rapunzel: who are you
Jeff Bridges: I am the dude you know that or your dudeness or duder or el duderino if you're not into that whole brevity thing
That is the radish I've never so intresting☺
Gosh the Prince is so damn handsome homagad
My favorite serial. My childhood

Rest in peace Shelley dunvall wish you happy ever after
Oh wow I used to watch these when I was 7
I love this story and Shelly Duvall was an amazing and beautiful and amazing singer and actress. But if I heard a random voice in the woods out of nowhere I would RUN….R.I.P Shelly Duvall 🕊️🪽July 7th 1949-July 11 2024🕊️🪽
It's very nice !
The special effects are just magical ✨
should have just asked the witch for radishes xD if she was so scary it was best not to piss her off
Even if they did, she'd still except a price. And the couple barely have anything and they have a child on the way.
@@osmanyousif7849 well, it's her radishes so she can name a price if she wants to.
that witch has severe daddy issues
Either that or she's a closeted lesbian.
i used to be so scary of that witch though😂😂😂😂
Gena Rowlands Forever ❤️🔥
R.I.P Shelley Duvall🕊️
Rest In Peace Shelley Duvall and now Gena Rowlands.🕊️🕊️
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD😊
OMG!!!! Rapunzel was very looking funny that was an werid story.😆
Is that the Dude? LOL, OMG.
Yup. And Flynn from Tron.
That was the nice story because i didn't see a fairy tale before😁
How curious is that the prince will never let down their hair because she look nice.
45:45 look at the middle left and a person pokes out from behind the sand pile! lol
