    Wish I would have had one of these when I was a corpsman with the Marines. I could have carried so much more supplies. Love the way you do reviews. You break it down to where I don’t have any questions. Well the only question I ever have is were can I buy one. Keep them coming. God bless.

    Hi Luke. I think this is a well thought out addiction to the pack. They thought of everything including the kitchen sink lol. You have room for all your main essentials and more. with just the individually packs along it gives you extra space. Great Idea.👍👍👍👍👍
    I love it!

    Excellent video as always bro! We loved our medics because they saved us but also because of their sacrifices. Because of their carry requirements, many of them have to leave their own gear at the FOB so that they can carry all their mission essential medical items. That means no change of clothes, little food, and little to no sleeping gear.

    Hey Luke; love the vids man please keep them coming; one thing that I have figured out with the FILBE Assault Pack and the FILBE Corpsman Assault Pack is that the shoulder straps are inherently horribly sewn on. With any amount of weight over a little time they will start splitting and they are very difficult to reattach by sewing. Much better to go ahead and when someone buys one to go inside where the stiffener panel is, find where the stitching is for the shoulder straps and go ahead and reinforce them with stitching before it becomes a problem. I love both of these packs. They are both great for rucking as well as bushcraft. Distribute weight well and are as you say "bomb proof"!

    Hmm ,well
    Being an X combat medic and carrying the Aid bag with slots for I'V's and line sets , I wouldn't care for this at all . Also carried two small bags Pancho Villa style .Each set up with a I.V , set and different size bandages , ace bandages etc . Looks like this thing would be back heavy . Any Corpsmen on here actually use this bag ? Course BTW , this is for Navy Corpsmen , I was Army . Nice review as usual . Not for me , but am sure the quality is great . ..B G

      I know this question is a year old, but no one answered so here it is. Im a corpsman who's served with Marine division (regular infantry)
      I loved the CAS. Completely customizable.
      But your philosophy of use and your setup can make or break your opinion of it. The corpsman I've worked with, including other units, recon, etc with very different philosophies of use, we all tended to keep a war belt/lbv/CLS bag/butt pack or fanny pack with a trauma setup and some mags.
      Our Corpsmen assault bag was setup for sustained engagements, and mass casualty situations. The extra bag (which we called the soft shell) sucked to hike with, and we typically used it to store the non emergency gear and long term sustainment regards to medical- our systems were always almost exclusively medical, and we humped the rest in our main pack.
      I loved the system as a stand alone system. I hated integrating it with the rest of the FILBE lineup. It got too fucking heavy compared to what I felt the army 68w's were carrying, but they seemed to lack the options we had. The heaviness of it was really hammered home after months on end of carrying FULL(120lbs, often more) loadouts, straps started to break and rip. This didn't affect the function of any individual parts, and other than the lash points, the gear held up wonderfully, but it made it increasingly difficult to strap it to the rest of the FILBE, and as such, increasingly uncomfortable to ruck with. Smaller loads and newer gear and I'm sure it would take a very long time to notice these issues, but this was a real life and necessity. Hope this helps!

    Looks great and organized but $ 550. I'll stick with my old Alice 1&2 one for each of us she has never failed me in any way going on some 38 years. many of our friends have purchased other very expensive packs and some not so expensive they have all with out exception gone back to the Alice . In most cases they just fail at the stitching over time . Happy Trails

      @@TheOutdoorGearReview worth noting that Karrimor has quite a few factories (or outsourced contracts.) With different products and quality levels. It's quite unusual situation. So you get gear made for special forces etc which has become a bit more widely used (packs, pouches and boots) all very good. Then some high(ish) quality packs for civilians. Then also in the last 5-10 years alot of badly made packs, trainers (sneekers) and leisure gear is available partly though a big retail store called Sports Direct (huge shops) which is in almost every UK town centre, so that has changed what many people think of Karrimor brand. Alot of stuff out there. The high end stuff is still very good. Mid range also (my smarter packs for travel have held up well) Anything mid to low price range doesnt last long and may need alot of repair or improvement (stitching seams and straps on a lightweight pack for example as I have had to do to keep them running. Sneeker/hiking shoes wear quite quickly.) This may all come out in comments if you cover karrimor! Different opinions.

    I have to rate this pack as another "White Elephant!"
    Who, besides the Navy Corpsman that it was designed for, is really going to have a practical need to use this pack?
    Backpackers won't use this, as there are a ton of lightweight durable packs that are much better for backpacking.
    I'm trying to think of who might use this pack, and the only other person that I could come up with was perhaps a Woodland Fire Fighter, maybe a Survey crew, or perhaps Polar Bear Researchers! LOL
    Nobody wants or needs to carry a pack this bulky, or a tremendous amount of weight.
    I"m open to suggestions.

      @msilverhammer 5 років тому

      @@WPJsPlace So basically what I stated?
      Some individual on a Search and Rescue team might carry this pack.
      Most people just carry a small to medium size first aid kit weighing a pound or usually much less.
      Nobody carries an entire pack full of medical and first aid material, unless that is their designated job, or unless they just like to carry a ton of weight!

    Thanks for the great hint about the Corpsman Medical Sustainment (add-on) pack, Luke! I was able to obtain one on eBay earlier this year, and while I'd never considered getting a loop-lined pack before, I was won over by your demonstration of how versatile they can be. Apparently Propper made reversible pouches (molle/hook, medium-size anyway) for its UC civilian equivalent pack, and it's still possible to find people selling them online. There are also some other manufacturers, like Mystery Ranch, making hook-lined pouches so if you buy a pack without any accessories it's possible to get some that are compatible.
    I was unable to find a Corpsman Assault pack at a reasonable price, but then I discovered that the new (mid-2010s) British Virtus system's 40L Daysack (NSN 8465-31-016-0651) may be just as good for attaching the add-on pack, even if it's a bit smaller than the Assault pack. It has the compression strap buckles in the right places (although some of them may be a bit stiff working with the add-on pack's Duraflex buckles due to being from different manufacturers).
    Even if I don't engage all the buckles (a total of 8 connections using all the straps available?), the Virtus 40L pack has a kind of beavertail attachment that can be passed underneath the add-on pack and cradle it, providing a lot of stability. The Virtus pack has a padded hip belt and sternum strap too which will help with the extra weight, and (unlike the 35L Dutch Army daypack I'd been planning on using for toting the add-on pack) a very solid internal frame.

    • @lisakado
      @lisakado 3 роки тому

      p.s. Although I'd been debating about ordering a 45L British surplus 60mm mortar ammunition bag (M155BD1, 8565-99-159-1810) which unlike the regular 45L general-issue field pack (M169BD1, 8465-99-790-0101) has a hip belt for heavier loads, I don't have any regrets about the Virtus pack. It has PALS webbing hidden inside neat zippered side expansions (intended for a pair of large side "rocket pouches", I was told) that I can use to attach my 5.11 MOAB 10 sling bag with its RUSH Tier System straps, as an alternative to the add-on pack. Actually, noticing that you reviewed that British Universal Bergen ECM rucksack a while ago -- if you haven't looked at those other three packs yet (Virtus 40L; 45L Desert DPM 60mm mortar ammunition bag; 45L Desert DPM field pack), any of them would also be a cool review!
      Big thanks again, and great videos!
