Diana Ankudinova "Homeless" (fan-made arrangement) / Диана Анкудинова «Бездомные».!
The guy who stood up, and who was invited to make the first comment on Diana's performance, was the guest judge for episode #1 of this nine-episode TV contest, Yusif Eyvazov, an operatic tenor of international reknown and the husband of Anna Netrebko, one of the world's greatest operatic sopranos.
His fulsome praise carries great weight. Though there are some wonderful singers in the classical world (which is where I too come from), Diana is indeed _very_ special.
She sings in very many styles, genres and languages. Her performance in episode #3 of "Oh, it is not yet evening" - a folk song that is etched deep into Russian lore - is even more impressive.
Her own favourite from the contest is her performance in episode #7 of "The Crow." It displays the timbres and colours - completely different from those on display here - for which she is most famous and revered.
The other judges were in fact the other contestants - the novel format of the contest being that they all judge each other.
Diana won the contest.
She has been a national icon - and a world class performer - since she was 14. She was 18 when she gave this performance and even now is still only 20.
Here are three reasons why Diana (the Queen of Goosebumps) doesn't sound human. First, she is a contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich. Second, she has a spectacular larynx. She's been called the vocal Eighth Wonder of the World. Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. (more below) When you add all that up you basically get a person who creates her own auto-tune. She doesn't need electronic auto-tune. She IS her own auto-tune. And the effect when you hear her is totally mind-blowing. It's like she's singing right through you, like a sword straight into your soul. Literally NOBODY else on the planet has a voice like hers. She's not one in a million, she's one in eight billion. Having watched well over 100 initial reactions to her, only one did NOT say she was "unique".
Welcome to the wonderful world of "Queen of Goosebumps" - Diana Ankudinova. Every song she performs becomes the pinnacle of art. Diana has a unique voice - a dramatic contralto with very rare overtones, an inimitable timbre, an amazing stage presence! Diana is 20 years old (in this video she is 18 years old), she lives in Moscow, Russia, studies at Gitis - the Institute of Theatrical Art. She started singing at the age of 5 and has won more than 50 international competitions. She sings in any musical genre and has performed songs in her native language - Russian, as well as in English, French, Spanish, Arabic, German. Truly a very rare and unsurpassed talent that appears once in a generation.
Jone Ruiz, for you, and all those in your audience that may not know, this performance took place on September 25, 2021, during the first season of a new Russian vocal competition called the ShowMaskGoOn. During Diana’s Ankudinova’s opening of her cover of the Elvis Presley classic Can't Help Falling In Love, she demonstrates her low Contralto sound. Diana Ankudinova has developed into what many vocal professionals say is a true contralto voice type and a true contralto female voice is very, very rare.
Now, a female singer's vocal range is one of the defining factors of a female singer's voice type. In 2017, at 13 years old, her vocal range measured from a low of D3 to a high of A5, which places her in the vocal range of an Alto, which was very good for a 13-year-old girl. At age 18 during this performance, her vocal range was again measured, and her functional vocal range was measured from a low C3 which is in the male Tenor range, to a high Bb5 which is in the female Mezzo Soprano range, which means Diana has almost 3 full octaves of vocal range.
Diana’s upper range improvement is on full display during the mid-portion of this performance for all to hear. Diana has said during interviews she was not very happy with her lack of a higher vocal range, which kept her out of the more prestigious music academies. Diana and her vocal coach decided to work extensively on developing a higher vocal range.
The improvement to her upper range is on display during the middle portion of this performance, and that improvement is quite impressive. But it is not just how high or low she can go, it's in the exceptional quality of her tone in her upper and lower ranges. It's in the roundness, fullness, and depth of her voice, plus her ability to use an enormous amount of resonance. Diana's ability to create and use this resonance helps in further defining Diana as a dramatic contralto which is the rarest of the rare contralto voice types, and a dramatic contralto has the deepest, darkest sound, and is the most powerful contralto voice type. At the end of this performance, the full depth and power of a dramatic contralto voice is on full display.
So, the question people ask is how does Diana do it? How is it possible an 18-year-old female singer to achieve these low, rich, deep, round, and profound sounds? Without actually scoping her vocal tract while she is producing these low notes to see what is happening, the general conciseness of many vocal professionals is simply attributing Diana's unique ability to her many hours of training with her vocal teacher, and her winning the genetic lottery. The opinion of many vocal provessional is that Diana won the genetic lottery and was born with her unique vocal anatomy. Diana's vocal folds (vocal cords) appear to be longer and thicker than the majority of female singers. Her larynx appears to be larger and her pharynx similarly appears to be longer than the majority female singers, and additionally, she has a large oral cavity. When you combine all these attributes, Diana Ankudinova’s unique vocal anatomy gives her the ability to produce the low, deep, rich, and full sounds, she is known for, but without actually scoping the vocal track to verify, there is no way to be 100% sure.
Diana is also a master at using a vocal technique known as polyphonic singing, which is an extraordinary accomplishment for someone so young. singers that have mastered polyphonic singing can create one, and up to two different tones at the same time which adds to the harmonic overtones and that can make it sound like more than one voice singing. It is this polyphonic ability that has some people believing Diana Ankudinova is using some form of artificial electronic voice manipulation or is using some kind of pitch correction software to alter or adjust her sound. Others believe another person is singing in the background off stage, or Diana is lip-syncing over a previously recorded vocal track that was altered or modified. There is no artificial manipulation of Diana's voice happening at all, and no one else is singing off stage, nor is she lip-syncing to a vocal track. The other voices you are hearing are vocal backing tracks but they are used to fill in and round out the performance along with the musical score. Diana Ankudinova and only Diana Ankudinova is singing Can't Help Falling In Love.
At then end of the 9 week’s, during the final episode of TheShowMaskGoOn, Diana Ankudinova was the last to perform with her cover of Can't Help Falling In Love. Diana was competing against other professional singers who also doubled as the judges. This vocal competition was televised over nine weeks, one episode per week with the other 9 professional singers, who were also competing with each other, and based on the individuals performance they awarded judging points to each other. When not competing, Diana was also a member of this judging panel. Every week, each singer took the stage and performed a different song over each of the nine weeks. Each contestant had to sing a different song from a different genre using different styles.
The ShowMaskGoOn! concluded on November 20, 2021, and during Diana's performance, the male judge on the top row, who was the first to stand is the Russian opera tenor, Yusif Eyvazov from Azerbaijan, who was invited to participate as a special guest judge for this competition. Yusif Eyvazov is married to the world-famous Russian opera soprano Anna Netrebko. At the end of Diana's performance, she receives a standing ovation from all her fellow competitors. One of those competitors is the well-known contemporary Russian singer, Julia Parshuta, who is the blond woman standing in the center row dressed in red and looks dumbfounded at the end of Diana's performance. Julia Parshuta puts both hands on top of her head, with a look of total shock and bewilderment. Finally, The inaugural season of the ShowMaskGoOn concluded with Diana Ankudinova being awarded to most judging points and being declared the winner of this new competition!

Diana, also called goosebumps queen, sang the cover of the cover of the song by Elvis Presley in the first episode of the competition 'Шоумаскгоон' (ShowMaskGoOn). This was Diana's first adult competition in November 2021. She was the youngest competitor (aged 18) and wowed contestants and spectators with her first song.
Rules: 9 winners of the previous shows 'The Mask', 'Superstar' and 'You are Super' took part in this new format and had to sing in 9 categories: folk hit, song at the end of the 20th century, Soviet song, pop hit, song your choice, new music, song from cartoon or film, rock hit, Grammy
The man who jumps up is the world famous opera singer Yusif Eyvazov. He is also the husband of the world famous opera singer Anna Netrebko. He is the guest of honor and awards 9 points. Each episode has a new guest of honor.
The competitors have to assess each other and have praised Diana to the skies. They said of their performance: 'Diana has no competition on the show - she amazes with her talent - it's impossible to tear yourself away from her - you want to listen endlessly, they're in tears and they're even afraid to blink' .
8 participants (Diana cannot score herself) gave Diana the highest score (9). She won the first episode... and later won the contest.

You have just listened to what may be a true contralto. “Diana Ankudinova, A Russian National Treasure” (My opinion), I have been following her for a while. She is another very interesting story that you will discover. Wait until you hear “Wicked Games”, “Take On Me”, "Human" or "Rechenka" Even though it is in Russian you still feel the emotion behind it. I've heard her sing in Russian, English, French, German, Arabic and Spanish so far. No matter what language it is beautiful.

Wonderful reaction! This performance was from a Russian show that aired in the fall of 2021, and ran for 9 weeks. There were 9 singers who were also the judges and critiqued each other. There were 9 genres of music they had to perform over the course of the show. Thus Diana sang in many different styles.

Diana (dee-ah-na) was abandoned by her abusive mother at the age 3 and placed in an orphanage, diagnosed with cognitive impairment. Her adoptive mother had her enroll in singing lessons to help with some speech problems due to abuse and neglect. Her singing talent was immediately noticed and the rest is history.

Diana, a unique singer, songwriter and actress from Russia was born in May, 31. 2003 in the Far East of Russia. She is 1,65m/ 5,41ft tall.
Diana didn't have a happy start in life. The woman who gave birth to Diana did not love her child, cruelly abused him and tried to drown him.
The 3 year old Diana was found at a bus stop with a broken collarbone and taken to an orphanage. There she finally found love ... from Irina Ponik, a massage therapist. Taking a young child into the family was not easy for Irina. Her son was already 20 years old, daughter Nastya 17 years. Start all over again and be a mom again? Yes!!! Diana came into a poor but loving family at the age of 5 and she got the best mom that could happen to her.
Diana spoke badly, cried a lot and was still very scared but she all sing songs from cartoons. The doctor recommended singing lessons and so, Uncle Sasha discovered Diana’s talent and perfect pitch, and singing teacher Elena Kazantseva shaped her voice and confidence. And it all started at the age of 5...
During 2008 to 2012 Diana sang around 40 songs, including at competitions.
Her mom, Irina Ponik, turned her whole life inside out and started all over with a new motherhood and many new professions - seamstress, manager, vlogger… admirable.
Everything that has to do with Diana's singing training, performances, competitions, looking for sponsors is organized and coordinated by her mother Irina Ponik. She took extra sewing courses too. Since then, she's been sewing all of Diana's stage costumes, because all of these things consume the family budget.
Irina accompanies her daughter on trips and captures her life in photos and videos with the persistence of a visionary. It is admirable how she promotes her daughter's career, teaching her how to fly but makes sure that she is down to earth Remains. Diana impressed with her talent in over 50 national and international competitions. Her confidence grew, her voice continued to develop ... until one day she was asked to compete in more distant competitions so that other children could have a chance to win.
In 2012, Irina's family moved to her hometown of Toglyatti, much closer to Moscow. Diana lost her fear that the woman who bore her would kidnap her.
In 2017 Diana went to Moscow, to 'The Voice Kids'. The next day, a huge scandal erupted on social media. A door had closed, but a new door opened...
In 2018 and 2019 Diana entered a competition 'You are Super and won twice. That project is unique in the world, an international TV- competition especially for adopted and orphaned children.
The winner of the season will be determined by a 6-day public vote and the final took place in the Kremlin Palace and her videos were uploaded to UA-cam and soon Diana had millions of fans.
The project producers help the finalists to start their studies and promote their creativity. Diana won a scholarship and Igor Krutoy (Russian music titan, billionaire, juror and sponsor) gave her a small apartment (37m²/ 398.26 ft²) in Moscow. There she lives with her mother and grandmother and was able to start her vocal training with the best teachers such as Professor Olga Donskoy. (She died of Covid-19 in October 2020). Her Russian fans helped her and found a new voice coach: Alexandra Pismennaya (Sasha), who was a student of Prof. Donskoy. She and Diana are on the same wavelength and even became friends.
Diana has something primal, mystical, but also sensitive and sensual in her voice and she lives her songs. She also has a perfect pitch and her sense of rhythm was exceptional even as a little girl. Diana is a dramatic contralto, the rarest and lowest female voice type (her range C3-D7). Her voice has natural polyphonic overtones and sometimes specifically an undertone = sub harmonic. (You hear the voice an octave lower than Diana sings. It's not that you hear a clear tone straight away, it's more that you feel like there's something in Diana's voice or the song has been edited. Not everyone can hear that.)
Undertone singing is a singing technique that belongs to the main category of overtone singing in which the vibration mode of the vocal cords is modulated to produce sounds that are below the singing tone.
In contrast to overtone singing, these tones are not overtones (i.e. integral multiples of the fundamental, but integral divisors of the fundamental, so-called sub harmonics.)

The break of voice made Diana’s voice even darker and deeper. She has mastered this time very professionally and has worked hard to bring back the lost high notes and has expanded her vocal range, currently from C3 - E6. Her genres are folk rock, folk pop, but also jazz, soul, blues, evergreens... and always in the unique Diana style... Tradition meets modernity.
She loves to sing in French, but also sings in English, German, Arabic and Spanish... but only phonetically so far. She plays the piano and ukulele. In 2022 Diana released her first self-written and composed songs..
But Diana is not only a great singer and storyteller. She lives her songs and touches our hearts and souls. But also she looks beautiful and she is a humble, smart and hardworking young woman. She also gives charity concerts. She loves her family and her fans. We are Diana's 'friends' and support her. Diana really appreciates that her friends helped to improve her home studio and also sponsored her first album. The Russian friends have chosen Diana as their 'national treasure'. I think it is our 'earth treasure'.

And when you hear her voice, you feel like she has wrapped you in a warm velvet blanket and served you a mug of hot, dark chocolate. Every song is a unique experience, it captivates you, you feel bound by magic. Diana doesn't just sing, she creates worlds... and goosebumps. We also call her goosebumps queen or shaman princess.
2020 Diana graduated from high school with honors as an external student a year earlier as “normal”, applied to music colleges and was rejected (examiners suspected she had a voice defect). But she is normal and healthy. Now she is a student at the university, at the legendary Russian State Institute for Theater and Variety Arts (Juilliard similar to GITIS).
In October 2021 Diana was invited to her first adult contest on Russian television 'The ShowMaskGoOn'. She won!!!
In December 2021, Dianas released her first CD with great success. Maestro Krutoy had introduced Diana to the excellent singer, songwriter and producer Brandon Stone. With Maria Tarasenko (songwriter), the trio created the 9 songs of the album and received gold in June 2022.
