    Hi Dr Chris.
Where have you been with these videos when I studied geology 40 years ago?
    Still, very interesting and enjoyable.
    Thank you.

hey Alex! thanks for checking out my videos.
An easy topic for pre postsecondary could easily be based on any of my videos so far.
Types of hydrocarbon traps with emphasis on rock type for the reservoir... for be geology angle.

Petroleum Geology: learning about geological structures to get an idea of where the oil could be. Gives an idea of where to look to find new oil plays.
Petroleum Engineering (reservoir engineering): After the reservoir has been found, characterize it. Design a plan to extract as much oil as possible. Monitor the reservoir as it produces to confirm its properties, and design further extraction techniques (enhanced oil recovery, well tests, well logging, etc).
Petroleum Engineering (drilling): Choose drilling mud type, choose drill bit type. Design a drill plan. Oversee drill rig from company side.
Petroleum Engineering (productions): Make decisions regarding surface facilities, and flow rates to maximize oil recovery. TPR and IPR curves etc.
I am trained as a reservoir engineer, but I have taken one course in productions and one course in drilling. I have taken a few petroleum geology classes.
As far as I can tell Reservoir Engineering is the most difficult to learn, but they are all related.

Thanks Dr. Chris! Great job. Please I have a question? How is it possible to characterize soil samples in oil rich environment using image analysis

If the imagery has the proper spectral signature and high enough quality, yes!

Hi! I represent NrgEdge, a networking platform for professionals in energy, oil and gas industry in Asia. Would you mind if I shared your videos with the members on the platform? It's pretty relevant to our members, especially students. We are focused on creating a community entered on collaborative learning and collective wisdom for both students and professionals. Let me know, thanks!

Love the videos. I have subscribed. :)However Dr Chris, I have a question. I am doing a 5000 word project that requires me to answer a question that could be anything to do with petroleum geology and cannot be too broad in discussion and has to be more analysis-based with the facts in the right place. Bearing in mind your expertise, I was hoping you could give me some suggestions as to the question that I could answer. This is a graded project that take half a year and will help me get into the top universities here in England such as UCL, Imperial College of London and Cambridge . Please do consider that I am only a 17 year old with no vast petroleum geology knowledge (just a career I would like to pursue). I must be able to understand the work but I do know quite a bit about geology myself but nothing too complicated. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance :)Alex
