QUICK QUESTION: We have a Standard license for Jira but a Premium license for Jira Service Management. I see that adding the Team field to a Team-managed project is possible via Project settings > Issue types. With your knowledge, would adding that Team field to my project only be functional if my Jira license was upgraded to Premium? I feel like being able to access this function in JSM should only be available IF the Jira license was in sync with JSM.

The team field is just a single select field where the values are predetermined by the physical teams you build. So, it's really up to you to determine if it's valuable or not. Some folks use the team field to assign an issue to a group of people and then that group can assign the issue to a specific individual. But all the tickets assigned to that team are searchable. Which version of Jira/JSM you have is less relevant. Hope that helps.

Does it matter if its a company managed board or team managed board? And is having different workflows for each team an issue?

Thank you for the video, Do you happen to have a tutorial for the workaround of this functionality without the premium subscription (as you mention in the end of this video)?

What is the up side of using the Team as you demonstrated when compared to having labels for teams? Is there any additional functionality leaning on the Team logic?

The team field allows only 1 value to be set. If you use a label, then you can add multiple values and those values could be fat fingered. Using the team field means you have to select from available teams, so you can't make mistakes as much as when using a label.

Thanks for the video, very useful. I have Jira Premium had was always using this field. The "Team" field was very confused because there was also another "Team" field un Plans as your mentioned in the video.
I noticed Atlassian recently consolidated the usage of this "Team" field and I have "Team" team like "TEAM A" which I created this from the Advanced Roadmap, and "Team A" which was treated as a different team name haha! Someone in my company created this in the Jira Software "Teams" menu sometime ago. Wondering if you have a video explaining how this Jira update will impact the users?

Cool field to have available. I'm glad you warned that it was not the People -> Teams you were referring to. I'm still trying to understand what the benefit of that Teams section is for. I think it has to do with Atlas, but not entirely sure. Also, love the shirts! Great job as always man!

Yeah, that People -> Teams section is a mystery. I know you can use it in Confluence. But for Jira premium users. . .it just causes headaches.

@@ApetechTechTutorials, I started looking into Atlas and it looks like that tool starts utilizing the Teams feature. I'm hoping there are plans to integrate it more within Jira proper on the future. I could see it being really useful if you could @ mention a Team and have all members receive the notification.

@@garyspross They announced Atlas almost a year ago and I haven't seen anything useful come out of it just yet. Maybe at this year's Team '23 they'll do something with it.
