Thanks so much for this - beautifully done and so glad it's not rushed. Great work! Please, please, please do one of the Blackgang to Niton section of the landslip - I'm sure there'd be many very grateful bods!
Nice video so worth a few comments I feel: That building at the beginning was called The White House and, in the 1800s, was called St. Catherine's Villa. It was left abandoned for many years until is was finally demolished early 2021. For some time it was The White House Hotel . The 1977 OS map shows it with a swimming pool! The building bottom right @ 1:10 was last known as Merlins Bistro and was previously The Old Coach House PH - this property was built slightly later but was in place by 1896. As you can see the building on the other side (Hillside) had already been demolished. The maze inside the chine (top left at 1:300 is now almost on the very edge and will start to slide soon. hard to imagine that there were lots of houses and villas down there years ago and fishing huts on the shore. That large mansion bottom left at 2:22 I think is now referred to as Chale House - it was originally known as Stonehenge. The dark Gault clay is known locally as 'Blue Slipper'. 3:50 - your drone shows the sheer size and depth of the cliff; and mass of the cliff-fall over the years. 5:40 - spot the Southern Vectis No.6 single decker leaving - this service has used double-deckers for a few years now as all the single deckers were returned to the mainland. 6:00 - centre of shot is the Blackgang Chine Hotel built in 1837 - you can see the original size of the building which has now been surrounded by additions on all four sides. 6:12 - the building next to it was last know as The Ship Ashore PH and then Ship Ashore Tea Rooms for a couple of years but it now used as office space. Annoyingly the chine's abortive and new attractive has been built in it's yard. How long will it be before this 'piledriver' takes everything over the cliff? Amazing to think that, before it fell in the late 1800, a road linked Niton with Chale and ran along the coast - coming up from behind where you are operating your drone. 8:06 - there were originally small houses under the cliff in the area called Lowcliff and above them - not too far from those coastguard cottages where that red vehicle is parked outside - a lot more including another mansion.
Great view... my company painted the rollercoaster at Blackgang during Janurary this year...(it was cold lol) good view of it tho.. and it still looked nice two weeks on...
pickles014 Save your money phantom 2 is good but came very close to losing it a few times the Phantom 4 Quality speed and a 3 mile range is far better,,
