You'd be deported after you lost your 13a

    • @rstel66
      @rstel66 Місяць тому +17

No, you’d have to change your visa. My father had a 13a. My mother passed and he didn’t know he had to downgrade his visa. Needless to say he overstayed for a period of time. Discovered his error, had his attorney here work with immigration. He paid a fine, went on a vacation out of the country and returned with a tourist visa. He married again to a Filipina and was doing the yearly Balikbayan visa as they traveled often. He got another 13a not that long ago but then got divorced last year. He took care of getting his visa changed to a tourist visa immediately. He’s getting a SRRV now.

I'm sorry, but no. You can convert your 13a to a tourist visa, and then you could apply for an SRRV if you desire.

People don't get deported here when they lose their spouse. I've been on both an SRRV Visa and a tourist visa. You can choose whatever works for you. You can also just choose to have a partner and not be married. No one said you had to be married to a Filipina. Get an SRRV and cohabitate.

I met my wife in high school, lost her in 2020 after being together for 43 years. Now approaching 5 years single. I will never rule out a spark starting between another woman and I, but I am not forcing the issue. I put that in God's hands and accept his will.

I have to share your POV. My wife passed away 3 years ago after 42 years of marriage, and since then I've had zero interest in dating -- _Zero._ I had what I'd always dreamed of when we were married and nothing is going to improve on that. For me it's just getting over the grief of losing her. I knew there was that possibility just on account of her being 7 years older than me; but I never expected it to happen the way it happened. So it's been hard to let go. I don't mind being alone; I mind being alone without my one & only. But the answer is not "looking for love." If it ever happens it'll happen, but I'm not looking for it. I'm content with that, I just still haven't quite gotten past losing my forever love.

Well guys, your video is 90 days too late for me since my filipina lost her life in an unexpected car accident in Negros OC. I used to thank her for saving me from the dating pool and she did that for 10 years. Absolutely shocked about how some of her family are making a grap for the house and the personal property with rude assumptions without asking me. I paid for the funeral and medical and they rushed to have the funeral on a BS pretext before I could travel there. * Was told of the sudden change of plan the day before the funeral. I was asked to give forgiveness in her name. No, you dont get forgiveness for the unforgiveable. My plans are forming about the house and property. About another woman, I have no plans. That will resolve in its own way over time.

I lost the love of my life 3 years ago. She was 20 years younger. Chinese from China. That relationship was a gift. She changed me. I would be like Mike and who I respect. I have dated but am very clear of the dangerous landmines. As I get older I prefer peace of mind. I’m open but I am not needy or desperate like I have witnessed so many men in SE Asia only to see the life long regrets a time later. I learn from others mistakes.

Congratulations on the 100K, Paul 👍 Nailed it around the time I predicted!
Never think that your younger Wife won't go before you. My Filipina Wife, 10 years younger, went without warning in 2021. What a shock! We had planned for her security, should I pass. But we never thought about the opposite.
She took all of my passwords, account information and organization with her. I lost my long-term UA-cam channel with her, because she'd set up everything herself. I had no way to recover.
My current Filipina Wife and I made sure that we can cover for the other, should anything happen to the other. Life lesson!
If this one went, I would finish my life without another permanent entanglement. At 66 I just don't have the desire to do this establishment of a relationship again. Temporary "relationships" can always be had 😉
    Thanks, my Kuyas 👍❤️

This is the first discussion I have seen that seems to acknowledge that Filipinas really might not be worth the effort. Although they present different challenges than Western women, establishing a relationship with an adult Filipina seems very much like raising a teenager. These challenges seem to include: emotional immaturity, extreme jealousy, and clinginess; in many instances marginal English and limited educational attainment; cultural superstitions, compulsive lying to save face, provincial customs and lifestyles, and lack of a world perspective. Perhaps you could address this topic further in a future podcast.

I couldn’t agree more. Companionship or a relationship is very good for you especially mentally. So many men though depend on having a woman in their lives to validate them, including our 2 hosts. I even met a foreigner in Duma that had 14 live in GF’s in under 18 years 🤷‍♂️ that to me is a guy that hates his own company.
I’ve been involved with the Phils for 20 years now, lived in Manila but these days I love spending just 3 months there each year. In those 20 years I’ve only ever had 1 GF for 2 months.
Paul & Mike unfortunately don’t take care of themselves, you can see they’re unfit and not in good condition. That’s why as they say they will need someone to take care of them if they’re single.
I come from a different angle, I take great care of myself, diet and exercise though that doesn’t guarantee great health in later years but is extremely more likely 👍
I’m the same age as Mike but in good condition, my intention is to live a life still being able to do everything I’ve always done, no care home and die when my body can’t take any more exercise 👍👍

I am in the US. My wife was 7 years younger than me. She died at 60 in 2010 after 41 years. I was devastated. I had no plans to get remarried. In 2013, through a coworker, I met a lady from Vietnam that was 20 years younger than me. For several years she lived in her house and I lived in mine and saw each other on the weekends. In 2019 I retired and shortly after found that I had cancer. She then came to my place and took care of me while going through chemo. She has been with me sense then and finally last week we got married. I hate cold weather and Florida is a major mess currently. Therefore, we have considered going to Southeast Asia for 3 to 5 months this Winter. Any thoughts on that? Unfortunately, now I an 81, almost 82, so not young. My doctor says I am healthy enough to go.

      Why is Florida a mess?

    • @jimgraham9450
      @jimgraham9450 Місяць тому

@@robert3987 Florida is a mess because of several reasons. The Prime Rate was dropped very low which caused the mortgage rate to be very low, so people were buying like crazy, sigh dons seen. The property prices sky rocketed, such as Punta Gorda went up 73 percent in 2 1/2 years. Then Ian hit, so a lot of property flooded and if they didn't flood they had wind damage. Now, everyone is trying to sell, but they don't want to drop their price a lot. So, it looks like the entire state of Florida is for sale at inflated prices. The insurance companies don't want to insure properties, so a lot of companies will not insure in Florida. The ones that do have a high price. Because the properties were selling before at high prices, the property tax has gone up a lot. Any place in Florida can flood, but some places are more likely than others.

Paul, I thought you did this specifically because of my situation. My Filipina and I were together 12 years. In 2022 she passed from Cancer. We had just come back here after I retired in 2019. Her Cancer came back soon after we arrived here and started chemo again. While we were in the states from 2014 to 2019 she had gone through radiation, surgery and several rounds of chemo. Anyway, she died in 2022 and I am single again. I’m going through exactly what you two were talking about. Still grieving to an extent… have dealt with depression. Am somewhat committed to staying here, but wondering what do I do now? I don’t want to go on and on here about all the rabbit holes I’ve gone down over the past 2 years. Save that for an interview down the road if you like. Thanks for tackling this subject because it’s a reality. And I’m living it right now. BTW, you and I are both the same age. My Filipina was 15 years younger than me. Again thanks 🙏

That grieving time is definately a person type of thing. For me, it was at least 6 months to be able to just go fwd again, though I still have conversations with photos in our house. Still in process of divesting myself of purses and shoes and things that strike that chord of melancholy seeing her handwriting or something personal. I have moved on with trying to find another filipina companion but I am not looking for some young thing because 1. I have two daughters don't need a third and 2. As you said, don't want to go through all the pain of "teaching" (for lack of better word) someone younger how to grow up.

Enjoy life. My 76 year old adoptive father retired in Angeles with my mother over 20 years ago. My mother regained her Filipino citizenship and they bought land and built a house. She passed and my father inherited the house and land and stayed here in Angeles. He had two daughters afterwards, didn’t marry their mothers. Wound up marrying another. Got divorced last year. He’s enjoying raising my two sisters and living life here. He’s a retired US Navy Master Chief, did a lot of steaming in Olongapo and Angeles so he knows how it was before. I think he’s earned his retirement here.

A girl from the farm or provinces can make a great partner/wife, but she'll have to work hard to be on par with an educated, savvy Western guy, it's just apples to oranges. There's trade-offs in any relationship, the alternative is singlehood, which I've read in the U.S. is running at about 30% for people over the age of 50. Good vid, brings up points for any guy over the age of 60.

First, congrats on 100k subscribers. A true accomplishment for such a great channel. As for the if my wife dies first....like you, I'm setting her up when I go first. But if she goes first God forbid, I'm too old (69) to start looking again. But, one never knows what God's plans are. Great topic, something we should think about. Keep rocking Paul

If you have a good relationship with your wife's family and her extended family, then there is usually always a niece or a sister who will help you. They would do this because you took care of them and their family member as part of the family. Most Filipino families don't abandon anyone who treated them well and become a person who is considered someone they should respect. This is especially true for families in the provinces, and that is how they think about getting old . Not all situations are this way, but do remember that they know that you are a family resource, especially if you have been subsidiesing their income for a long period of time. Even if your wife passes, her family knows you will continue being an essential part of the family.

Y’all bring up some very important questions and thoughts; even though as we age, deep down we know that there will come a time when we can’t take care of ourselves unless we die suddenly, most of us are in denial because it’s not a pleasant thing to think about; this video has opened my eyes to reality and that I don’t really have a plan for that reality; thanks, I needed that eye opener because I’m two years removed from being happily divorced after 18 years of marriage and I have nobody to depend on for care in the future.

    😎👍🇺🇲
    Interesting topic.
    In my personal situation.
I've been on my own for about 10 years. I've had a few dates but completely gave up on that
The thought of going through that first date interview process just turns my stomach.
I'm fully aware of my shortcomings and simply don't want to explain anything to anyone.
I'm pretty odd and that's not necessary appealing to most ladies my age.
I also realize I'm damaged goods. My trust in people is cracked and broken so I prefer to handle things on my own whenever possible.
I've learned that I'm old and useless too everyone except me. So I focus on myself and my future.
Just like the old dog in the shelter. Too old to be wanted or adopted so I have to focus on escape rather than someone taking me home.
My escape is preparing for retirement and saving as much as I can.
I'll probably spend time in the Phils.
I don't plan to live anywhere in particular so if it doesn't work out. I haven't failed.
I can freely move on and try someplace else.
At this point I can't see myself relying on anyone.
When I get too old to tie my shoes.
Maybe I'll pay someone to drive me out to the middle of the jungle and wait for the birds to cover me with leafs 😏
Currently, life is simpler without any baggage.
It's much easier to let people walk away than it is to ask why they not staying.
One leaves you with an End.
The other leaves you with unanswered questions. I prefer the former.
To answer the question in the video.
    I draw a blank.
Evidently it's too hard to imagine a different life than what it is right now as far as relationships go.
OMG that's enough rambling for this morning.
Cheers to one and all. 🥂

Paul. "Shy" is NOT ALWAYS "scared". I was a shy kid myself and it just meant I was uncomfortable in social situations with people I did not know. Once I got to know them I was good to go. I am still a little bit that way. I am more of a loner for that same reason. This is not something we can turn on and off.

I met my wife in the late 90s during one of the craziest times of my life. We were deep into the party scene in Nairobi - cocaine-fuelled nights that would stretch into days. I was wild back then, chasing every high, both chemically and, well, sexually. My love for anal sex was legendary among our group, something we never really shied away from. We’d go at it wherever we could, completely lost in the moment.
But those highs came with a price. Around 2003, after one too many reckless nights, I found out I had HIV. She caught it too, and within a year, she was gone. I’m still here, somehow, living with the choices I made. The memories feel like a blurry, chaotic mess now - filled with insane parties, bad decisions, and, let’s be honest, way too much coke. I’ve slowed down a lot since then, but the ghosts of that time still linger.

Honey, If I died tomorrow would you remarry?
    I guess so.
Would you play golf with her?
    I guess so.
Would you let her use my clubs?
    No.
    Why?
    She's left handed!

I don’t think I would be looking, but if it happens I wouldn’t be against it. I know that when I was younger (mid 20’s) I waited a full year before I even dated again after a divorce. I waited a long time before remarrying again. I have been happily married for 25 years now and am 65 years old and wouldn’t look for anyone, but I wouldn’t say never.

I know what I would do, for starters, im already single, been single and living on my own for 18 yrs. Im 68 and love being on my own. Just think Paul all of the plans you had for the wife, you can do. Continue with the house build only minimize these plans to get the house built in 6 months. rent out the house right away, live happily on that income, travel and make youtube videos, and take up more hobbies to fill your time, find a friend and make her a deal to give her the house in exchange for dispensing with your assets and remains when the time comes!

Extremely good information. It’s a realistic approach to getting on in years. But also the opposite situation of the young one dies. Also great input on going through the “ process “ with one or more Phillipinas when at an advanced age. Not sufficient time to “test the waters” and find the most compatible mate with only 10+ years left. I agree 80 is the absolute oldest one should even consider, realistic as you have stated many times, 60-65 in the optimum time to make the move.

I am not sure, but I have developed a parental relationship with my fiancée's sons and nephews. I feel like their father and I am committed to being here for them.
I would probably be able to find another middle aged woman who is willing to be a good step mom.
If not, I will send take care of these boys until they are out of school.
    That's just me.

Another great video with Paul and Mike. I recently lost my partner at just 44 years old. I am 62 years old. I have been grieving her loss for six months. I had told her that if anything were to happen to her I would eventually travel to the Philippines or Thailand. I have a high concern of loneliness or boredom occurring. I worry as Mike said that I could become a home based hermit. Life will likely be on hold for a number of months yet,. I love you both you are wonderful together. Craig.

Regarding the comment about if you fall in the shower. This could happen anywhere in the world. I'm in my sixties in good health and live on my own in the UK with limited contact with family and friends. If I fell and was hurt in the shower, it could be days before I'm found.
