Rest in peace, legendary tenor, grandmaster Loforese. Thank you for teaching me how to breathe, my breathing has been really improved a lot by watching this video.
@@bourbakis Man, It's not really teaching, I just learned from his video motion and combined it with what my teacher taught me. It is super hard to explain how to breathe. First, you need to know the diaphragm, which is the muscle that controls breathing. Then you need to train your diaphragm, normal people are untrained, so their diaphragm will bounce back super fast when they release air. And produce sound without support. A trained diaphragm can control its bounce back speed-a very slow speed can produce steady and consistent airflow, and produce supported sound. Also in this video, he acts very clearly about his release session between each breath. To train the diaphragm, staccato will be the best method. Also need to have a clear mindset, and placement to pull the muscle down. Also to mention, he can sing high notes at this age, because he has really good breath control. Without support, I can't stand on A, a lot of masters lost their high note ability when they are older than 65 since their muscles are too weak.
@@hanchengyao3095 Much appreciated your long reply. I've worked on it for many yrs, mostly for improving martial arts practice, & also for the sake of advancing psychological development. Although am not much a runner, I've learned a great deal abt breathing by studying Kipchoge's running techniques. Mr. Loforese's singing is a new discovery for me, he is another great revelation. That's why your previous comment immediately had piqued my interest. I'll continue studying his inner movements. Thx again!
Not a miracle, just freakin' great technique! THAT'S HOW THE OLD TIMERS DID IT! Nowdays all we hear is that fake "mask singing" and almost everyone sounds constricted, nasal with small screeching like voices!

Perfect example of how to sing at any age--watch closely as he breathes and supports the tone from his lower abdominal muscles--NOT the diaphram! What a misnomer it is that we "sing from the diaphram". Adelina Patti once strode into Jean DeReszkes Paris studio where he constantly preached this and exclamied "What is all this talk about diaphram--i never heard of it in my career!" She who sang before the public for over 50 years and when once told that she made more money than the President of the United States replied--"Well let HIM sing!!"
Actually you use both in the support. There’s engagement of both inhale and exhale muscles as well as the passive recoil forces of the lungs as well. The diaphragm is more in tension in the onset of the phrase but throughout, the abdominals begin to exert more force. The coordinated balance of all these forces lets one be more efficient. One can make the same sounds but with significantly more effort if the coordination isn’t as good. We can see he is singing very efficiently
Never stop singing. Saruman put out a bunch of heavy metal albums in his early 90's. Johnny Mathis, 87, just did a concert. He sounded great. Keep singing. Never stop. Who knows, you might open an NFL or MLB game with the National Anthem at age 85. You never know.
The technique known as "Bel Canto" determines whether or not the vocal instrument will stand the test of time - I have only dedicated a decade in training in this technique, alas, I know I have chosen wisely and this extraordinary tenor is just another source of inspiration for those of us that are training to do the same!!!
