  • No music. No words. Just the raw footage of the greatest cars on Earth. This week, the Porsche 901 (No. 57).
Our fifth video in this series features a car that would change the course of Porsche's history: the Porsche 901. The 901 was to be the successor to the 356 but there was a problem. When it was presented at the 1964 Paris Auto Salon Peugeot objected to the name, claiming they had ownership over 3-digit names where there's a zero in the middle. Considering that practically all of their cars were named in that format (starting after WWII, at least) you can see why they were upset.
So after producing 82 901s, Porsche changed the 0 to a 1 and the 911 was born. Our video features 901 No. 57, which went through a 3-year restoration after being discovered in a barn in Germany in 2014. Enjoy the sights and sounds that bore the 911 we know today.
