I distinctly remember hanging out in my best friends house during the early 90's when he put this in the stereo and I heard that kick drum, it was the first time I had ever noticed a kick drum on a record, tight, loud, deep, and clicky. It was that sound, on this record, along with the "whomp whomp whomp" of the layered guitars that made me decide I wanted to play in a heavy metal band instead of rock....here I am 20 years later, still listening to Justice and still playing metal! Thank You Metallica, and all involved in the production of this record, for showing me the mighty sound of true metal, and changing my life forever!

i dont understand why people dont like it. ive been a fan of this album since i was in middle school. it was, has been, and still is my favorite album. if it wasnt for this i wouldnt even be listening to metal at all.

Just noticed something cool about To live is to die... The progression of the song is very similiar to The Prophecy by Iron maiden.

After long absence,I'm listening to this album these days. Perhaps, this CD may have not sold so well, but I love this one.
From the instrumental, to the lyrics and their messages, and to the emotion. Everyting perfect. People can say they like master of puppets or black album but the true magic is here, and ...And Justice for All is the queen of all songs...I don't care.

Whoever says he only likes the "80's Metallica" but only mentions the first 3 albums is a huge hypocrite. This is their PEAK in composition and aggression. Bad production is also not a valid reason to completely discredit this album

damn,i was 3 years old when this was released.
Overall I think this is a great album. From a structure, song writing point of view, one of their best, but I do feel that the 'Bass' guitar is lost, the 'snare' drum tone is weak and the production could have been better.
Having said that and as first stated it's still a great album!

If anyone likes this album, I have to suggest Five Serpent's Teeth by Evile. They are a really good band today, and I just hope that they get the recognition they deserve.

The last good (Great) album before they fell off the cliff and tried to “stay with the sound of the day”. Don’t get me wrong, they’ve had some decent songs beyond AJFA, but I feel they strayed from the classic Metallica sound after this album. RTL, MOP and AJFA were their best…IMO.

...Bullshit that Frayed Of Sanity is the best song here, total bullshit, this album have 6 Metallica old style songs and the rest are listenable but too much experimental, those Metallica old style 6 songs are Blackened, Shortest Straw, Harvester of Sorrow, Eye of the Beholder, One and FRAYED OF SANITY, the rest are too experimental for a Metallica album, but still listenable but skip-able, very underrated but still Metallica at his peek, besides Newsted's first album.
