I just found your channel because I was researching how to grow trees from seed as I have just purchased 100 seeds from 5 different types of seeds. Your channel had me you showed all your trees, but when you mentioned Bonsai, I got very excited because that is exactly why I bought all these seeds. Do you stratify birch seeds? You never mentioned doing that. I will go look and see if you have any more updates on the birch you started bonsai on.
I’ve got oak saplings growing in pots in the back garden, all house grown to start with and only just taken out but I’ve noticed alll the leaves have started turning purple on all of them, you had this experience at all?
Your birches are looking really nice! I’m guessing that you never fertilized them, they need barely any nutrients after all. My silver birch is now 40cm tall, doesn’t have side branches yet (I‘m hoping that any will develop until autumn) and is just using unbelievable amounts of water! It is sitting in a 50cm tall and 35cm wide clay pot and I still have to water daily!
Thanks mate, I very rarely fertilise and if I do it’s just some blood & bone or chicken manure. They do drink lots of water. Good luck with your birches. 🌱🌱😊🌱🌱
Hi Kit! Yes! I would love to learn how to bonsai a tree.😃 Your trees are looking so good.👍 Even at a month old the birch looks cute...pretty trees. And it's amazing how slow the roots are growing in those small pots. Kit, I do have a question about fruit trees in pots...how do you fertilize your trees and bushes? Totally enjoyed the video!😃
Hi Valorie, thank you. I’ll make sure to video it. I used my chicken manure compost as a mulch at the beginning of the year & every now and then I put a small scoop of fish blood & bone.
Definitely would be interested in another follow-up on bonsai-ing these birch
What a beautiful greenhouse you have there.
I guess everything there is done by you.
Very beautiful!
Thanks, yes it is and the kids help sometimes.

How do you germinate them? i've been trying and i fail everytime. Any suggestions - how, when, where, what sand etc.
Do you grow for fuel wood?
No not yet, just for fun and I’m getting into bonsai.
Have you ever grown white ash from seed successfully?
Hi, no sorry I haven’t.
