Amazing video Sam! It's so great that you share your love for the ocean. Surfing is such an amazing water activity and it's lovely to see you enjoy it, keep going with these great videos. If it doesn't bother you, I'd like to give you a suggestion, a tip for the next videos: Basically, you could try inserting some comic and funny stuff... to give everyone a pinch of humor that, in the world of surf, can never be missing. Now, I don't think much of it, but the first thing I could think of in your sport might be peeing in the water. Once, my uncle, who is a scuba diver, peed in his wetsuit during a long diving session and that moment was absolutely funny, he even wrote "I’m peeing" on a waterproof notebook during the session. He has always been telling me that there are 2 types of divers and swimmers: those who pee in the water and those who lie. I know it may sound strange as a request but, in my opinion, these are moments of happiness and carefree that always make everyone smile, that's why it'd be hilarious if you included lots of moments like this, if you want of course. I hope you like the idea and I hope you have a wonderful day!
I went to Lakey 4 years ago. Surfed periscopes for two days, epic. Then the biggest swell for twenty five years turns up. Got skunked. Great adventure. What time of the year was this footage taken if ya don't mind me asking?.
I used to surf Lakey Peak with no one out. No surf camps. Nothing. Latter on got Sadam and Sammy a surfboard . Also surfed the Mentawaiis with not a surf camp in sight living on a fishing boat
Great memories of a trip back in July ‘95. Zero crowds and a bomb swell for days. Lucky to have packed a 7’2” for the largest of days. Some drops were epic and I surfed the right to myself while my mates were all goofy and drank the left. Solid 6-8ft and capped off the month long surf trip from Bali to Komodo. You’re right about Sumbawa being different, I found it nice and mellow, except for the crazy mountain men when we stopped for fuel on top of the volcano 😂🤣 Stay safe dude and keep ripping
Imagine growing up there and surfing everyday as a kid with a sick board. I had to sneak out of the house with my beat up board and hand me down wetsuit full of holes.
Would definitely be a different life tho, not a lot of money going around in the area… but you r right it’s a surfing haven! And Rajo is an insane surfer
Yes I've been there. Mountains of trash, plastic garbage everywhere. Mountains of empty water bottles, until they burn them in smoking plastic garbage pits. How's the forest doing? Oh - never mind. They deforested the entire place. You mentioned the crowds - Travel 1000's of miles to face... yet more crowds? Meet any Brazilians? They were the worst. Even more obnoxious than the drunk Aussies and even drunker Kiwis. The destruction of the local environment and culture, all for the sake of waves, is a tragedy.@@SamWitness

Knee high waves, and a completely dead reef. What a tragedy and sh*tshow. Poor locals.
Have you been there before?? Not like that at all. Tragedy and shitshow?
