    The Pony Express of the westward expansion had a "Orphans Preferred" policy in their recruitment. Orphans creating purpose through their adventure makes sense because orphans have little to leave behind. Fern was untethered when Heiter passed and Stark when he slew the solar dragon. And of course, Frieren can't collect novel grimoires while sitting idly by.

    There's a problem with Fern's parents death.
    You assumed that they died because demones make the world unstable but I beg to differ.
    They died in the southern lands some 70 years after the demon king's defeat.
    After whitch the southern lands have been largly unaffected by demons.
    Its actualy only after demons stoped being a threat that humans started warring among themselfs.

    I could be misremembering but out side of the major cities we also don't see very many old people in frierens world so the population it's self seems to have a shorter life span as at least a few of the old people we do meet are dwarves or in heiters case a powerful cleric blessed with the goddesses magic.
    So we have a world with a lot of young Orphans and not very many old people, assuming I'm remembering the number of old folks we meet in the story correctly. Could even be a part of the story about the world maturing along side our cast in this era of peace

  • @sundragon7703
    @sundragon7703 15 днів тому +2

    It is much simpler. Having family in Frieren's world has similarities to our communal societies. People with family have obligations to the family and indirect obligations to the community the family belongs to. In the US, it is not uncommon for small rural towns to have a "hive mind". Generally, the kids go to the same school. Everybody attends the same set of churches. Everybody shops at the same market. Most of the working age members are members of the same occupation like agriculture, mining, logging or support those who work in those occupations. In conclusion, everyone with family can have a place of employment, belief systems are consistent, and they have a place in the community. Orphans have less social expectations to contribute to that society. (It's like spending Thanksgiving dinner with a family that is not your own. Feels awkward.)

    • @PedroPalaciosJr
      @PedroPalaciosJr 15 днів тому +1

      When Frieren wanted Eisen to join her in her travels, he said he was too old to swing an axe. Since dwarves lifespan is around 300 years, I estimated that Eisen was about 200 years old. We saw Eisen praying at his parents graves, but that doesn't mean they died when he was young. For all we know, they died of old age. Also, I don't think that Flamme was an orphan. Serie took her in because she was a talented mage. Not because she was an orphan. Serie is not the kind of person that would take in orphans. Serie said that Flamme as a child had all these fanciful ideas of what she was gonna do. Not exactly acting like a grieving child who had just lost her parents. I think her parents saw an opportunity for their child and they took it. Their talented daughter mentored by an elf mage, what could be better.

    i dont feel sad for stark because his parents died i feel sad beause of the way they treated him

    I think there is a social dynamic here. Who are able to take orphans? Priests and mages, maybe kings and rulers. So, an orphan taken in by a great mage would naturally become a mage. An orphan taken in by a priest would naturally become a priest. One taken in by a warrior like Isen...

  • @mdraj5655

    This series is usually cozy because we are watching this series from the POV of our main trio and the original hero party (Flashbacks).
    Frieren a legendary elf considered to the last great mage who defeated the demon king while earning the title of slayer from demons themselves.
    Fern a apprentice mage so talented that she did something in the moment which serie's best student couldn't do for decades + she can cast REALLY fast.
    Stark the warrior who scared eisen one of the greatest warrior if not the greatest. when he was a just kid. Stark is so strong he can solo a dragon in his first real fight ever
    Original hero party was broken too that being said they still had a lot of trouble fighting demons specially the greater ones.
    I assume a average person in this world isn't so fortunate like our main trio

    The defeat of the 'Demon King' and near extinction of the demons was only about a single generation back, as such there are plenty of people around still who were alive or born right at the tail end of that time. Some demons probably went on rampages after the death of their 'king', either out of shatter ego(after all the very strongest among them was killed by quartet of people whos races Demons considered 'prey') or simply to kill as many as they could before they too were hunted down and slain.

    Also I'll drop this tidbit, even with variation, pretty much the average life expectancy in medieval times was from 30 to 40. You didn't get to live to old age back then. Himmel and Hitter living so old are abnormalities that can be attributed to healing magic and their high standard of living after their adventure. Life in those days was was literally back breaking/killing work. Add in the demon army and the problem gets compounded.

    i loved this anime and its certainly one of the best one to come out in its season, but the amount of characters that basically had the same origin story just makes it so...bland... its an overused trope that directly affected the story negatively imho, and comparing it to Dungeon Meshi's character origin story which tbf also came out around the same time, Frieren's just pales in comparison. the world building's magic system is definitely Freiren's strongest point in comparison, but we all know that Dungeon Meshi's strong point lies in the dungeon ecology, world building-wise

    When the Demon King came into his power he initially began a genocidal war of extermination against all Elves which would explain why there are so few Elves left in this world. He then moves on to Humans such as Stark's warrior village. But he meets his end at the hands of Himmel. And that is not even counting human-human wars. So yeah there is going to be a lot of orphans. If this sounds implausible then consider the very real 30 Years war (1618-1648) which exterminated upwards of 50 % of the German Population estimated at 4 to 8 Million dead.
