Carlsmith Beach Park - Hilo’s Pride and Joy

A unique beach park unlike any other in Hawaii! Enjoy pristine white sand waters that is both cold and warm at the same time. The beach is blocked off by a high reef that causes a lagoon like swimming area mixed with both salt and fresh water. It’s a perfect spot to bring the family or just hangout with friends. It’s also a favorite hangout spot for sea turtles.

Sweet video, I love it. But it is not legal to fly a drone within 5 miles of an airport and Carlsmith Beach is pretty close to the Hilo airport, less than 5 miles.

Hi Teresa, thanks for the reply! No fly zones are commonly misunderstood, so happy to clarify. Red restricted 🚫 zones are prohibited. Directly beyond that is “Authorization Zones” which this and a good chunk of Hilo is. You require FAA clearance to fly in authorization zone, which I received and what Carlsmith is. If you’ve ever flown most major drones, the built in app won’t let you take off unless you upload clearance. Thanks for the concern though! Safety is always important. For more information on Carlsmith fly zone, visit DJI geozones 🤙

It's in Hilo, Hawaii. It's on the same roads from where the lighthouse is. I am not going there at the moment, but if I feel the nerve to cool off as it were, I might.
