Hey man I'm so glad you checked out my video! Yeah, sometimes I wish there was a happy ending to Berserk. In reality, the story's core theme of struggling is a happening with chapter releases. It's next level dramatic irony.
I don’t know, I don’t think much will change if Guts didn’t leave because for Griffith to his own castle he has to marry Charlotte and the king would start to despise Griffith and torturing him again but I don’t how Guts would play into that if he didn’t leave maybe Guts would’ve stopped the king before he captures Griffith but who knows.
i don’t think that it would,Guts is a man with a real will to live, and he was tired of being an instrument in grifith’s hands,he wanted to go his own path, and imagine Griffith, the man who had control and power over every single member in his crew, until Guts,he made Casca fell in love with him,he proved that he is stronger mentally, physically, and now he want’s to leave,to truly understand why this wouldn’t work you need to understand the psychology of Griffith and Guts
I never really considered the tragedy of Griffith's fall, the characters all acted without evil intentions until Griffith was broken. The eclipse is all the more cruel for the fact that it theoretically didn't need to happen. The law of causality really twisted some relatively decent people into monsters. It's perfect considering the overarching story is about Guts' struggle against fate.
12:33 I really smiled here. This sounds so delightfully reasonable, like asking your boss for a leave of absence. But if there was no conflict and no drama, we wouldn't read Berserk.
Dude, if Griffith just said "why are you doing this?" It'd probably happen differently. Griffith was straight up lying to Charlotte when he was giving his speech.
Not exactly lying to her. More like lying to himself. It was his philosophy that he wright for himself, like a lot of young people, do when they think that they "crack a life code", he wanted that to be true because that let him distance himself from his people, to not gen emotionally hurt if he loses them, to not get attached. But in I case of Guts, he got attached anyway, proving his talk wrong, but he was not ready to acknowledge it yet.
Not only griffith lost the duel but if you read the mnga you ll see that guts did to him what he consider himself impossible to do against guts to stop the sword on his shoulder without hurting him he was planning to injure him but not hurting him was considered impossible he only feared he might killed him if he hit his head instead. Guts basicly proven himself his way superior in combat much more than Griffith was imagining
"And how it would likely never conclude" Jesus fucking Christ, that's haunting considering how Miura died almost a year after this video was posted. Either way, amazing video man. I decided to check out more of your content after coming across a Samurai Jack video that popped up when I was binging clips.
The inability of social communication and lack of understanding really sucks. I've always wished that Guts and Griffith at least talk things out together.
I love the alternative reality you’re telling but what about Ganishka? I feel like Griffith would fall to the emperor eventually which would bring about the eclipse either way. It’s all about Causality lol
Beautiful video, man, such an incredible tragedy for everyone involved Griffith's final moments after the rescue/before the Eclipse are so haunting to me
The only explanation I can find for Griffith's extreme reaction is that in his weird mind he and Guts were dating (without Guts knowing) and were going through the worst breakup in history.
If Guts were to mention taking a year off with a Blacksmith at the base of one of the mountains, then I can see Rickert hearing about this, and getting with Erica early there. If Guts loses an arm during a duel or one of the competitions, or just plain recklessness, then I can see him getting that kickass setup he gets in the Black Swordsman Arc anyways. Griffith: KING BRO LEVEL. Guts: GETS HIS FRIENDS AND HIS MECHANICAL ARSENAL. Casca: GIVING GUTS A BABY. Battle Scars... Mostly Mended. *But there's still Kushan to deal with...*
Awesome video! You brought up some amazing points, and your prediction of what that conversation between Guts and Griffith would have been like felt so spot on to be honest. On one hand, I think to myself “if only that had gone that way”, but on the other hand, I’m like “If it had, we wouldn’t have the epicness that is the rest of the manga, and the Black Swordsman arc would be meaningless as well”. This deserves more views if you ask me.
That damn staircase scene 😭 if only Guts hadn't of gotten emotionally damaged by that. The man can take a beating from 100 warriors, but his heart needed only one man to take it down
guts never left, the bands become a kingdom and griffith reaches his dream, a big event came and creates conflicts, guts died and griffith became desperate, enemy saw it and use it as an advantage, the band loses, and griffith suffers...
@12:32 I was thinking the same thing lol he could’ve asked Griffith for a vacay, wait a few months, and then disappear to avoid conflict with Griffith. Then everyone lives happily ever after.
I think Kushan may cause Griffith to use the red behelit in order to beat him because he can't stand losing his kingdom. Guts and everyone will be marked and sacrifice for him to have a fair fight against that apostle
The eclipse was going to happen anyways, it was written in causality, but I don’t think it would’ve been as brutal and betraying as it was. Anyways this is a really good video :D
The Manga is much better and is still being produced by his assistants and best friend who miura told the outline of the ending to before he passed. It's worth it to see this journey to the end
Thankfully, there are going to finish the series. The last arc of Berserk will be released in November 2022. The author’s best is concluding the series for him.
8:30 men this is f'ing easy: Just one question Griffith should pose: Why you want to leave Guts? Especially Griffith as the socially intelligent leader should pose at least the question. Cause he as the great brains who wants to understand should clearly first ask before striking. I always found that this is unrealistic after all the dialog which happened between the figures over three years! But Miura f it I want drama so let's act the figures like total morons especially Griffith out of character.
Nice vid, very thorough with the retelling of the events that took place and I completely agree on the communication part between Guts and Griffith. Gut's should've just told Griffith he heard him talking to the princess about his idea of a 'friend'. However, maybe this is just my POV, but I'm pretty certain Griffith wasn't trying to r*** Casca in the carriage, he was trying to comfort her the way he used to when she was upset but couldn't move well enough to come across as the 'strong, comforting, trustworthy' leader, he didn't have the ability to rest his hand as heavily and soothingly too, which is his normal way of comforting her. This was likely coz he heard Casca telling Gut's her worries about his weakened state, and wanted to do something for her, but ultimately just ended up flopping on her and trying to talk to her as usual, forgetting he had no tongue. His weakened state, made him more vulnerable to his own emotions. He couldn't fool anyone anymore about his feelings not even himself, and he knew Casca had seen him in a similar vulnerable state before when he clawed his arms up in the river reflecting, so he trusted her to understand, but Casca's composure was almost always dependant on seeing Griffith maintain his composure, in that carriage scene he lost it as he forgot his own inabilities and allowed emotions to move him thinking he'd do as he'd done before. Griffith doesn't seem to fully understand how he really effects the people around him. This would've broke Casca; seeing Griffith all wrecked yet still trying to comfort her, only to struggle which was why Gut's found her crying beside the carriage. If he wanted to have s*x with Casca or r*** her he could've done it any time when he was in his prime, but didn't, because his morals went against it and he knows how it'd look since he was the one who saved her from a rap**t. He had no problem having his way with the princess, because she was a ticket to him (yet also had an interest in him even tho it was different) and an outlet for all his pent-up, unprocessed emotions towards Guts. I find the bedroom time he had with the princess, was more like a type of self-harm/devastation since he's shown self-sacrifice behaviours and even spoken of sacrificing himself (what he said in the river scene with Casca) in the series. Gut's was the one who agitated all of his pent up emotions, because he saw Gut's running and thriving by his emotions with his 'live in the moment and experience life in the moment' approach to life. But Griffith never really got to fully express himself or let loose (obsessed with his dream), so when he became Femto all that he regarded as 'wrong' would've turned into an opportunity for power, including seeing Casca as an object to dominate before Guts to show-off power. Femto transformation was like some demonic force entering his body and operating his mind/feelings like a remote control, conveniently so Griffith could have his dream.
for me, it looks like Griff was so desperate, he knew that he can't achieve his dream anymore bcos of his state, he already lost Guts, so he forced himself to Casca in order to secure his future, bcos he knew that Casca will take care of him, but since he saw that Casca was already close to Guts, he did that. That was a desperate move for me.
Man.. griffith never considered guts as an equal , never , he only felt comfortable because he finally being superior to someone that actually really strong , thats why he want him in the first place , thats why he dont want him to leave , thats why he slept with the princess after guts left , cmon people 🤦♂️
do you still remember what Casca said to Guts in the cave? there's a reason why she said all of it, we all know that Casca loved Griff, and she can totally see how much Griff valued Guts, not only as soldier but more than that.
There's also many more evidences that can proved that Griff cared for Guts as a person, not only as a soldier or tool. Guts even made Griff forgets his dream.
How can you say that when the evidence shown clearly makes a case that Guts was more important to Griffith for a time than his dream? I think you're getting confused by a single line of dialogue that within context was nothing but Griffith manipulating Charlotte.
@@JOJOrequiemyearsago do you also know for someone that has been always supressing his feeling can suddenly feel something deep and strong to something that make the person really comfortable , didnt he rape casca in front of him to make it clear they werent equal
I feel like the "Tell Me Why" opening means Griffith trying to understand Gut's decision. Like imagine that song playing while Griffith was having sex with the Princess.
I mean I like how you entered the depth of the characters you did a great job, but regardless sooner or later if guts leaves or not Griffiths fate is held by the God hand so they'll just manipulate fate to break him into femto ofcourse still with Griffiths free will intact
I think Griffith would become a member of the godhand even if Guts never left, or even if Guts never joined The Idea Of Evil made all of the little things happen so Griffith would become Femto, It could do it again
The point where you realize this dude completely misunderstands Griffith & Guts' relationship is when he says that Griffith killing Guts would've ended in him living happily for the rest of his life.
