    It may take longer, but I think I saw someone twist or braid their roots to keep them stretched. And another girl just used small perm rods at the end to get a different type of looked, it surprisingly turned out good though!

      I've done rods on the ends when I had this issue with Curlformers, but I was afraid it would look too bizarre with a non-Curlformer, haha. I'ma keep playing with them.

    There are sellers on Aliexpress and Ebay that have lengths up to 65 cm/25.6 in. Search some form of "water ripple curlers" or "water wave curlers"

Just pick a day when you don't have anywhere to be, so you don't have to worry about going out looking crazy with them in your hair. That way, you don't have to sleep on the curl/waveformers. Maybe you could've done larger sections & plaited from roots down about 2 inches & then added the waveformers. That way you'd have stretched roots & ends. Braid outs already give a wavy texture. Just a thought.

    Maybe it's because you fluffed out, but I was expecting more definition from the waveformers. I guess it depends on the products you use. It's still cute, it just wouldn't last for the week.

    • @nappyheadedjojoba
      @nappyheadedjojoba  5 років тому +21

      I didn't fluff the length, just the roots, so the lack of definition is 1.) characteristic of my hair, 2.) partially due to humidity and 3.) partially due to the fact that I don't use gel(s). As I said in the video, I don't care about the style, per se -- just the stretch, so I don't mind.

    • @gensai93
      @gensai93 5 років тому +2

      I have tried both and I found that the waveformers give more of a softer hold, they're more flexible and not as stiff as curlformers, so the style doesn't last as long. I like that they provide more stretch, but it's probably better to use a product that has more hold to it, like a gel or something. I have 4C hair and it came out really fluffy.

    Fantastic review. I LOVE your thoroughness. I know you removed by squeezing the top but I was wondering if you tried removing by squeezing BOTH the top and bottom of the waveformer. I'm wondering if folding the end under and Bobby pinning or a perm rod on the end would work. It may add a lot of time to the install therefore making it not worth it. I appreciate that you went all out and took one for the team by sleeping in them. Thank you for the sacrifice and and all the hard work you put into this video.

      Thanks you! I have tried the double pinch, haha, but I can't seem to get a good handle to remove the Curlformer/Waveformer, when doing so. I just fumble them in my fingers and can't get traction. I considered rodding the ends (it's what I do with Curlformers, which you can see in my older Curlformers videos); but, since these are waves and not curls, I figured that would look insane, and I decided against it. Bobby pinning the ends might not be a bad idea, though!

      Just installed them. Like yours, they were way too short!! I finger coiled the ends. We'll see how turns out! Lol! Shout out to whomever provided the link for the longer ones. I already ordered 5 packs of the longest length. Thanks again!

    The style is CUTE! I bought curl formers ... 11 ir 12 years ago? I'm not sure how long they've been around, but I bought them when my hair was relaxed, and I went back to natural in 2008 or 2009. Anyway, I only used them once because I didn't like the Shirley Temple curl. So I'm glad to see these waveformers, and I'm going to try them. In April. 😄
    Thanks for the review!

    When your hair gets too long for them, you can put a roller on the ends!

    Have you tried using ribbons for a good heat less stretch? Thats what i do (I do it in a way thats similar to threading leaving no gaps) my hair is also 4c.

    They had 30 cm and 50cm from the buyer on AliExpress...but my hair is shorter than yours. I didn't notice anything longer than 50cm, but I also wasn't looking for longer. I didn't notice some that were shorter, though.

      No, but I do remember when those were having a moment on YT, a few years back. Similarly, I remember those not being long enough (and really expensive, if I recall correctly), so I never bothered.

    Thorough breakdown... Now I am confused because I want to get curlformers *just* to stretch my hair enough where I dont need a blowdry. Hmmmm... Which one to get.

    • @nappyheadedjojoba
      @nappyheadedjojoba  5 років тому

      Since both will stretch your hair, I'd recommend getting whichever ones you think you might *also* enjoy wearing as an style unto itself. If both products had come out at the same time, I'd probably only get the Waveformers, since I actually think the waves look cute, whereas I *never* wear the curls from Curlformers.

    • @nappyheadedjojoba
      @nappyheadedjojoba  5 років тому

      Thanks! Yes, I think if I actually cared about the style lasting and used something with a good hold (I don't do gel), it stillllll wouldn't last me more than a day or two. I think these'll be great for stretching, and perhaps if I want a soft, stretched look for an event or some such. Nothing where I needed my hair to last.
