Hearing Majel Barrett again legit made me cry a little bit. That whole scene on the bridge of Enterprise-D was probably one of my favorite in the entire franchise. It was like seeing an old childhood friend for the first time in over 20 years.

It was so amazing to see the crew back where they belonged again. My wife and I met as a direct result of TNG's influence on our lives, so quite literally, without it we would not be here - 24 years (20 married) and 2 kids later. Emotional was not the word! Just fantastic this season and I'm so sad we only have 1 more to go. Not bad mouthing seasons 1 and 2 - but man, I could have done with three seasons of THIS!

I assume the clip of Majel Barret is from the THERE ARE FOUR LIGHTS episode at the end when Jellico gives Picard his ship back. But I did not actually go back and check.
Could also be from All Good Things when we see Picard first take command of the Enterprise but I don't think we see him use the computer to do it.

Hit me the same Matthew. My dad got me into Star Trek with the Kirk films, but TNG was our weekend "Bonding" ritual. We'd watch the episodes every week and went from TNG to DS9 to Voyager and then Enterprise together (with the films in between). He passed almost twenty years ago but I know if he'd been watching Picard with me right now he'd have had the biggest damned smile on seeing the D again.

This Episode had me crying. My parents introduced me to Star Trek, Both loved the original but me and my father had a strong bond over TNG. Mother liked it but it was me and my dad that watched it a lot as I grew up. When my father passed away me and my mother often talked about Star Trek reminiscing about my late father. We watched all the movies and my mother took me to every Star Trek movie after my father passed away. In 2022 on Feb 3rd my mother passed away having myself being the last fan of Star Trek left in my family. This episode brought back so many good memories of me and my parents and I know deep in my heart they would have loved it as much as I did. Thank you so much mom and dad for introducing me to my favorite series and I hope you two are exploring that final frontier together. When my time also comes I hope I can join you and we can explore the galaxy together. I love you and miss you both every day.

17:40 Hey Sean, I think what you are missing is that the changelings infiltrated the upper echelons of Starfleet and in those positions of power, they would be able to silence or cover up any objections to the fleet gathering and software upgrade concerns of other senior officers. Ro Laren mentioned that she was blocked and Geordi mentioned he was stymied when he voiced his concerns. Starfleet wasn't being stupid, they were being controlled.

  • @emr263

It seems to be a running trend in Starfleet during this time period, which actually I think speaks volumes about starfleet and it's humanity and the world today. Humans always think they know better or can fix the error that led to a bad result. The battle in prodigy could of sparked an idea like " of all the ships talk we might be more effective explorers and if necessary a battle group" we can make sure the negatives won't happen.
Or look at it another way, in s2 use of Borg tech allowed for easy take over of the fleet. Use of that tech could be influenced by voyages time in the delta quadrant. The tech in isolation of 1 ship worked great but was a risk in the fleet. It's very human to do something with out thinking if we should.

    • @arch1017
      @arch1017 Рік тому +4

      Oh, 100%.

One of the best moments in this episode is where Data attempts to comfort Picard and after noticing how hurt he is Data just simply puts his hand on his shoulder. It's such a remarkably simple gesture but tells so much about the characters, especially Data. Old TNG Data would have just kept talking and attempting to comfort Picard by brute forcing a conversation or employing techniques in his database of comforting actions. Instead this Data has finally reached a level of emotional maturity and human understanding that he knows that sometimes the greatest thing you can do to help a friend in crisis, when no words can help, is to simply let them know you're there and an act as small as putting your hand on their shoulder can be enough. Something the old Data would never have understood or been able to do. Great stuff.

I don’t think it directly said he still had Borg implants that couldn’t be removed but it would make sense, Seven had loads that couldn’t be safely removed. Even a Changling-enhanced Borg now out in the open (as Bev said they were working together “from the very beginning”) seemed like a let down. The only logical outcome would be for Jurati & Good Borg to support Enterprise in the final battle.

-I kind of love the fact that LaForge never updated the 1701-D’s database after the crash on Veridian III. It seems very LaForge to rebuild her to fully operational specifications for the hell of it, but also keep her frozen at that point in time.
-While the 1701-D’s saucer is going to mostly be upgraded in service 1st generation Galaxy-class, if the Syracuse was one of the Dominion War Galaxies, or even just a later generation model, it probably has an updated warp core and heavier weaponry on the stardrive section. We may get a bit of a souped-up 1701-D.
-The confirmation that Worf got his fourth pip as Captain of the 1701-E was a nice touch.
+Considering that the 1701-E was repairable after using the front edge of her saucer to slash a hole in another ship makes me wonder just what in Sto’Vo’Kor Worf did to the 1701-E.
+On that note, I wonder what Riker did to the Luna-class Titan that left her with a lot of salvageable systems but an unrepairable hull/frame. One too many gluonic disruptions?

For instance Worf is wearing yellow division colours and not red, as he changed to yellow in the second season and never at least in the prime line changed to red. They also focused on the painting in the first episode a little too hard. The reference in ten forward and even Picards old TNG comm badge. I really thought they naught CGI it, but no. I checked the last episode of Enterprise where they did CGI the Enterprise D and it had both of its saucer impulse engines glowing. Same with the CGI models of the other Galaxy Class ships. On the show they only lit up when the ship separated and they only filmed that three times all with the six foot model. Now say the six foot model, as that was what they used in Generations and the same reason they destroyed the D as it is hard to find with for the big screen. The markings on the saucer are almost identical to those after it crashed.

Consider that Picard's body was kept by S31 as Soong had worked out that his brain had been altered. When do you think that they realised this? It is possible that when First Contact took place, S31 were already aware of what seemed to be Picard being able to hear the collective due to his DNA being altered (transporters and bio scans keep records showing the changes) and they had half an idea he could still hear/be controlled by them and this is why the E got sidelined in the battle of Sector 001.
If so this adds a whole other dimension to things if S31 knew all along and were keeping tabs on him and once they found out about his child, there was a desire to get their hands on him, the Changelings simply infiltrated this ongoing plot that S31 had for their own ends, creating the very situation that S31 were trying to avoid.

It was so good to hear Alice Krige back as the Borg Queen, she never fails to strike that uneasy feeling as she takes command of a scene. That said I'm really going to miss Annie Wersching's Queen. She was sinister, captivating, she stole every scene she was in and did it with (lack of a better word) Perfection. It would have been fantastic to see her continue in the role, RIP Annie you are missed. This episode was incredible, from start to finish I was on the edge of my seat. The mass assimilation was unnerving to watch, there were so many moments that struck right in the heart with a few comedic moments to lighten things just enough as not to shatter you completely. I'm excited for the final episode and I hope it ends this incredible season with a bang.

Was waiting for this episode. I cried like a baby when they revealed the Enterprise-D. And every time I see them stepping out onto the TNG bridge, I cry. It feels like a homecoming for all of us that grew up watching TNG from Sept. 1987 to May 1994. The fact that they paid so much attention to the details, getting everything just about right. Only nitpick, the lights weren't as bright as they appeared on TNG. I'm sure there's a reason, but either way, the lights under the consoles still looked too dark. No matter what, though, that bridge, and hearing Majel Barrett Roddenberry's voice again....I cried.
This episode was amazing. Despite the suspected plot hole with the Borg for the moment, this episode was the true love letter to the fans. Terry Matalas is who we needed helming this series. He is the only person I've seen that has shown his true affection for Star Trek in all of its classic glory. I hope that he'll be the one helming anything new from here on out.

As a software developer I was just blown away and ELATED at the transporter code hack. They explained it well enough that any normal person can understand it, but it was also presented in a way that was SO damn plausible from a programming standpoint. Most software as we know it today is written with certain patterns in order to make the code reusable and - as a result - more efficient. For the devs reading this, I'm of course talking about OOP.
The idea that the Borg managed to compromise the base class DLL of transporter code and insert a trojan horse malware is just... *chef's kiss* SO GOOD. And the transporter of all things, the perfect marriage of biology and technology working as one is just SO SOMETHING A BORG WOULD DO!
It's so sinister, and such a scary concept but it works so well.
