This goes so well with Two Time, Two Birds on a Wire, and Love, Love, Love when you consider the themes. They all convey a different stage of realization, and a different stage of breaking down. I also noticed they all utilize arrows, roses, and rainbows as symbolism for the different sides of the mind, relationship, and mental state. Rainbows represent accepting yourself, and seeing what it really is that is making you hurt, while letting that go. Arrows represent the things around you, and your mind that inhibits some of that healthy thinking. It's all so beautiful.
Oh once again we are here, I could spend hours talking about all of your art and saga, every little thing that it builds up.. every conection to past animations. I found myself coming back to watch all your videos since the begging over and over again trying to understand all of it. Amazing work like always, so human. I love how you are not afraid to be so open about yourself and yet be so secretive, anyone can interpet this their own way and you are not here to correct anyone. Well, that is what art is, isn't? Make other people *feel*.

The animation you did for the two dance sequences are PHENOMENAL they have so much movement and life inside them, and the smooth flow of it all takes some serious skill. I think the way the character is forced into either feminine or masculine boxes, illustrated by the clothing, was an amazing touch. I dunno if that's what it's about specifically, but it resonated with me as a non-binary person, because often times the only option you're given is to pick one of two confining poisons
Love who you want to love. Be who you want to be and have the body you want. Don't let anyone drag you down. And if Someone tries to tell someone they can't be who they are. I will knock their teeth in.
MANNNN Leaving the user to guess what the symbolism means is both cruel and yet so beautifully perfect The other animations that have the same themes slap so hard And no shocker this one goes harder than diamonds One day i hope to fully understand what they all mean. Of course i have my own theories. That is part of art. One day.
I am not really sure why, but watching this made me feel goosebumps all over me. Everything about this whole PMV was just so mesmerizing. Absolutely well done!
The last few weeks ive been coming back to this repeatedly. Many scenes stick out of course. However, the Ballroom scenes have stayed quite consistently.
AUGHH SHANNON THIS IS AMAZING. I AM IN LOVE WITH THE SYMBOLISM. ANDD THE DANCING ANIMATIONS. WOW!!! Love how the two dances also had different kinds of energy? The suit one is my fav 100%%% insane stuff man
I MISSED THESE ANIMATIONS SO MUCH❤️ I remember watching your older videos, and slowly I start putting piece by piece the story. You inspire me so much and I’m so happy you are back, Shannon ❤
One of my favorite parts about your animatics is that it almost feels like every frame is made with a different style to convey an emotion ✨ idk if it’s on purpose or not but it’s so unique and makes the messages hit so much harder then they already do 😭
YAYYYY I love seeing your amv/pmv’s!!! The symbolism is so creative and beautiful, I’m so proud of your art! You’re such an inspiration, thanks Shannite!
This is stunning!! I love the song choice, and my favorite sequences are the ones where you’re dancing “as a girl” and “as a boy.” As someone who is gender-non conforming, I can really relate to the symbolism and emotions felt throughout the animation. You have an amazing talent and creativity with ur approach to topics like this. Thank you for putting so much hard work into this!! 💕💕
Ouuugh this is beautiful Shannon. The dancing part looks amazingly done, the movement feels right. The symbolism is strong as well, and it has meaning for every picture. Really well done
This is a very intriguing pmv to watch! You have outdone yourself with this one; the symbolism, the animation, the sheer awesomeness of your style. Shannon, you really are one of the best animators in the community. Keep going!
I recently found your videos after reading WoF and getting into the fan animations, and I have been rewatching them a whole bunch. I feel so lucky to be around for a new one to drop
okay but everyone in the comments are talking about how great the symbolizm is but my dumb brain is trying to figure out what any this means and all I can come up with is "Sad rainbow dragon go dance" so can someone explain the story behind this? Im kinda curious
I can’t edit for some reason so I’ll just make another comment this is was amazing! The amount of emotion and the smooth flowy feeling of the hole thing is incredible! I love your style so much!
(This is very long, beware!) I'm not sure what the symbols mean but I felt like I wanted to share my interpretation! Be aware that I don't know this character very well besides the fact they've been in a toxic relationship so this is pure speculation based on what I'm seeing. The first few scenes that are depicted show this character (yes, I don't even know their name or pronouns, sorry) trapped which is probably a metaphor for them feeling trapped. They reach out for a light but see, they aren't actually showed grabbing it and in the next frame they're crying on a bed which depicts sadness and perhaps a feeling of helplessness considering they've been shown trapped too. In the next scene they're standing in front of a dress and a suit. These clothes are commonly associated with two genders: Dresses for women and suits for men. The way the OC is standing there in the middle of them leads to believe that they're unsure of what to pick for one reason or another. This could hint at gender dysphoria. Next up is a frame where the character is tied in red strings, unable to move and their wings are damaged, deeming them unable to fly. Wings are often a symbol of freedom while broken wings are a symbol of lack of freedom. Again they are shown trapped and there are arrows in their head and neck. I'm unsure about this but usually arrows are used to shoot at something so maybe this is a metaphor for shooting someone down? As in stopping them from getting or doing something they want to do as well as the pain associated with being the victim of this treatment. They are then shown trying to break free from a black barrier. I also think they are crying a little and their expression shows that they're angry and trying really hard. Meanwhile they're reaching out for rainbow colored light. I personally think the rainbow represents both sexuality or LQBTQ+ in general and happiness as happiness is usually only truly achievable if you can be yourself. Now, in the next scene they are shown behind bars, mad. They're also crying rainbow tears. This leads me to believe their attempt to break free failed and they were put into a cell, trapped once more. This is where it gets interesting! They start wearing the dress and dancing in a way that is commonly accociated with traits a woman should have (I don't agree with this, it's just gender roles I'm referring to) according to society: Graceful, elegant and gentle. Now, in the next scene they are shown distressed which makes me think that perhaps this character is AFAB and doesn't feel comfortable in the role of a woman. They are then shown shot by many arrows in the heart which can symbolize heartbreak and pain. I also believe that they're dead in that scene which enhances the tragedy. It also seems like the character feels defeated. They are then shown opening a door that leaks darkness that slowly but surely surrounds them wholly. As they do that they don't look very happy or eager to do so but they do it anyway which makes me consider that they may feel forced to do so and embrace something they don't even want. This, considering everything I've spoken about so far is being a woman. However, next they're seen on a balcony of sorts- Again, reaching out to the rainbow in the sky which could symbolise that despite everything, they still have a slimmer of hope and know they can't force themselves into something they don't feel is right. It shows longing. Next up, someone covers their eyelids and other parts of their face with rainbow color. I'm assuming this is the white dragon but for this interpretation, that doesn't matter to much. Whoever they are, they have rainbow paint on their hands which probably painted on the character's face. They look relieved and seem to be enjoy this. Now, this is the first time in the video they are actually shown touching the rainbow colors which leads me to think this other character introduced them to something LGBTQ+ related or is the first one to accept them for how they actually identify themselves. This may also explain the next scene where the OC is shown finally grabbing that light inside them which lights up more and more so the darkness around the character vanishes. Perhaps the experience with the other character from before gave them enough hope to start fighting again and ignited that spark and the hope within them. Again, a interesting part! Now they are shown wearing the suit and dancing stronger and with more energy than before. My thoughts on this are that they identify as male and are now trying to live that out which the dancing and the wearing of the suit symbolises. They are then shown sitting in a corner. This expresses loneliness and shame which is often how people feel when they come out while the people around them are not accepting them. This interpretation of mine is further emphasized I find by the next scene where the OC stands protectively in front of a pile of rainbow flowers. They are faced by silhouettes of angry people (or dragons, I suppose) that seem threatening. This is also probably the reason they have a nervous expression on their face. They want to protect what they worked hard for to get and don't want people to ruin that (again). Now this is the part where I have little to no clue. They are holding a rose and looking sad. Roses usually symbolise love. It glows so I think it's supposed to mean something positive too. Perhaps they found love? Again, not to sure about that. EDIT: They are shown struggling after after that. This combined with what comes after makes me think they have to let go of something or someone they love to be free. To wrap things up because this is getting way to long (sorry), they are shown breaking free of that black barrier, into the sky with the rainbow light shining down. This parallels the scene where they tried before but failed. This time though they succeeded and can finally be who they want to be. Also, the flying is probably symbolic for freedom! I wonder if anyone will read this... Nevertheless, this video has been on my mind for like a week now so I had to share my thoughts on it. Like I said, this could be very wrong but it's how I interpreted this! :] This is art at it's finest if you ask me, you did exceptionally well with this and you can pride yourself in being able to create such works!
