- This may be the easiest upgrade you can do to a fishing reel and it is perfect for those who surf fish.I can't believe I haven't thought of doing this before to my fishing reels but from here on out I will do it to every fishing reel I get. The best way to upgrade a Penn Battle 2!
This link is for the *3000 and 4000 SIZE ONLY* make sure you choose the correct size for your reel!
fishermanshead...
That was cool!! Thanks for that tip👍👍 I've got a DX 4000 I'm gonna try that handle on my wife's Fierce 4000 just for fun then I'll see if I can talk the her into upgrading.
Thanks Scott! I wish you the best of luck in convincing the wife!
I had to drill my Fierce.
Do you know if the Battle III 5000 handle would fit on the battle II 5000? 🍻
What about for the Wrath 5000? It just pushes in and then gets tightened on with the cap on the other side.
Yep! Love this! Did this for my two Pursuit III's. SO much better.
Thanks Peter! Amazing how much better a handle upgrade can make a reel!
@@G2COASTAL So true. For me the handle turned a 4000 from an big inshore reel to a small surf reel.
Love the channel! We think about fishing gear/tackle really similarly. Appreciate your perspective. Thanks and keep it up!!
@@PeterLebhar I appreciate the support more than you know, means a lot!
Excellent upgrade!
Thanks man!
Hey from Destin. Great tip. Wonder if it will fit my Penn Spinfisher VI Long Cast? HHhmmmmm.......... I bet it would. Great vids as always!
Thank you! Only one way to find out!
Did you get this idea from me lol I did that with all my reels last year ....the dx handles have removable bushings so they are very smooth
Hahaha No but I wish I would have known that and I would have had these handles a long time ago! I was talking to a guy about the Gomexus power knobs and the lightbulb went off in my head that I could just swap the entire handle assembly and not have to drill anything.
@@G2COASTAL lol I guess I was ahead of the curve....I did that on my old pursuits and fierce III back when the Dx first came out
@@Thebankfisher tell me about this stuff when you do it!!!!! Hahaha
Quick question, is it same with Penn Sargus 2 3000?
I want to change the handle
No clue unfortunately, I have no experience with the Sargus.
Interesting....I really wanted a slammer but wasn't too keen on the golden handle, maybe this would be my solution. Are the handles you bought real PENN handles or aftermarket handles?
They are Penn handles. Penn doesn’t sell parts from their website but Fishermansheadquarters.com sells official Penn parts.
I love my Slammer handle with the metal knob.
Sweet!
Thanks!
link for 4000?
Its in the description box. The part will say 3000 but its the same as the 4000. Exact same reel handle assembly goes on the 3000 and 4000 so Penn only uses one number for both size reels.
@@G2COASTAL bagged and tagged. we'll see you out there!
@@jackmayson8663 awesome!
Thanks for information…. Not really interested in the drilling process…
Same, I just didn’t want to drill and take the chance of ruining a perfectly good handle. So glad I went this route instead.
Never cared for those flat handles.
I don’t mind them for throwing lures in close but I used a power knob a couple months ago and absolutely fell in love with them for those long casts in the surf.
@@G2COASTAL I have a Slammer 3 6500. Love the metal round knob. It also comes with the synthetic round knob. My 3000 Battle 3 DX has round knob. Have 2 Spinfisher VI and a Battle 2 with flat knob. The flat knobs just aren’t comfortable in my hand.
@@chuck750ss8 the Slammer handle is top notch! I picked up a Slammer III 4500 to throw lures with and I can’t wait for the water to warm up just a bit more to bring some Spanish!
@@G2COASTAL you fishing for Spanish off the beach?
@@chuck750ss8 absolutely! Rip something fast and shiny through the surf here in Alabama and there is a good chance you’ll find the Spanish if they are around. I tend to start catching them in April here in Alabama once the water gets over 70 degrees.
