This “Evil Celestia” isn’t as cool as Daybreaker. I know this animation is old, but I like how that the fanbase thought of an evil Celestia before Daybreaker.
Personally, I vastly prefer this Celestia over Daybreaker because simply put it uses how the sun works to frame her demise. I would have loved it if Nightmare Moon lost most of her power after Celestia was banashed back in the season 1 premiere. Since it would show that they can't be at full capability without each other. Both Luna and Celestia would want to leave the world in eternal night. Celestia because she has simply become too weak and is slowly losing her mind and her powers , and Luna because she feels unappreciated and unwanted

all the haters just need to stop. like right now. this is a fan work, meaning trying to compare it to the official shows quality is just wrong as they dont have the budget like the show writer staff does. they did the best with what they could. and this animation was VERY well done. the alternate element bearers made sense. and as for the ending part, show me one official MLP episode where the ending wasnt slightky rushed due to time constraints. the creators of this clearly worked hard and the managed to make it the same length as a normal episode as well. the reasoning behind celestias downfall actually made sense, yet unlike nightmare moon she still had a sense if herself within. she probably allowed the speech from dinky to finish because she found a way to stop her from continuing her dark actions. overall it was a very well made animation, and it made me feel for the characters as well. for all you haters. go spend over a year working FOR FREE and make your own animation. smh we are supposed to be a loving and accepting community, not a nitpick and hate on each others work one

Honestly speaking, this is great. The animation was done really well, and the concept of the whole story is actually pretty revolutionary... The on,y problem is, the many plotholes cover that fact. I was confused at first, despite the narrations and animations depicting the story. There are a lot of plotholes that need to be filled. Also, some elements were mismatched. When did the Element of Loyalty became Honesty, and vice-versa? And DETERMINATION? I was thinking of a certain game when I heard that word...

For those who are confused about the story, here's what I think happened. This does contain spoilers. Obviously. There is a prophecy that when the Elements of Harmony vanish, a silver alicorn with a golden mane will appear and guide the ponies to return the Elements to Equestria. When the charms of the Elements break, Celestia believes that there is no hope. She feels pressured and goes insane. She seals the Mane Six with a magic spell. Luna tries to prevent this, and thus is unfairly imprisoned in the moon. Celestia, in her insanity, decides to make eternal night, so that her sister can still be with her without interfering in her plans. Derpy Hooves goes to confront Princess Celestia. Celestia's hair turns purely pink, like it was when she was much younger. Ashamed, Celestia teleports to the Canterlot Library. Meanwhile, Dinky Hooves is staying home with Amythest Star. Dinky is impatient and uses a minor sleeping spell on Amythest, enough to escape to Canterlot. Derpy Hooves discovers that Time Turner, Lyra Heartstrings, Bon Bon, Vinyl Scratch, and Octavia have followed her to Canterlot. They decide to stop Princess Celestia together. Derpy arrives at the library first to discover that Dinky is already trying to confront Celestia. Derpy is happy that Dinky is safe and tries to fight Celestia. She fails miserably. Dinky, on the other hoof, puts up a good enough fight to stall Celestia so that Time Turner and friends can enter the library. As they enter, Dinky has a vision of how much Derpy and friends have helped and inspired her. Dinky reminds Celestia that the charms on the Elements of Harmony are only symbolic. She names Octavia the Element of Kindness, Vinyl the Element of Honesty, Bon Bon the Element of Laughter, Lyra the Element of Generosity, and Time Turner the Element of Loyalty. Dinky is Magic. Derpy is convinced that she has no Element, but Dinky says that Derpy is in fact the forgotten Element of Inspiration. For those of you who don't know, Inspiration was originally going to be Rarity's Element. So the seven ponies work together and bring Luna back from the moon. Celestia snaps out of her trance. Derpy Hooves, renamed Bright Eyes, becomes an alicorn. The seven ponies stand in for the Mane Six until they return to their rightful places as the Element Bearers. The End!

Wow, just, wow. After watching this I'm honestly speechless. This was by far one of the best animated films I've seen in my time, and I've seen thousands. Stunning visuals, amazing voice acting, great story, all of it comes together beautifully in this masterpiece, this, breath taking work of art. I still can't believe this is a fan animation! I remember watching this years ago. This is a really cute fan animation and I really love it a lot! Derpy Hooves is one of my favorite characters in MLP and I love the explanation for her Cutie Mark being about her clumsiness; luck and fragility definitely represent Derpy’s character, and I love this a whole lot. Sure, it has its flaws and such. It’s not perfect. But I’ve always adored the idea of the Background Mane Six going on an adventure to help save the world.
Criticism is important, that's why. Although there's some needless hate in the comments, there's also plenty that give the creator their honest thoughts, these are what can help the creator grow. Criticism helps one improve, and it's just as important, if not more, than praise.
Constructive Critisism and honest opinions is great, but then you have all the Trolls. To point out an error, or state how much you enjoy the story should be obvious.

The slow steam train has spontaneously turned into a high-speed electric train. Perfect sense. Great job with the wind effect from the high-speed train btw.

I actually liked the writing, there was some suprisingly deep idea behind the story. Also, the animation was amazing, very successfully combining 3D animation with the original MLP one. The only thing I believe could've been done better is the audio. Music stops too abruptly at some points, many important characters speak too softly (celestia) or not at all. And the sounds of fighting, falling etc. could've been recorded in better quality. The overall impression is very good though. I can only wish the creators of Double Rainboom fan episode used animation like this.
And by the way, it'd be much more impressive if the creators made their own background music instead of just stealing it from the show, but since it fits so well, I'm not complaining.
I remember watching this and I loved the animation, but there a lot of things I did not understand like were did the mane 6 go, why would celestia trap her sister Luna on the moon again but on purpose. I don’t unsearstan this seen at 5:42.
The animation and music is pretty good but the script doesn't make any sense and Celestia is too out of character for this to be plausible. As well the the forced moral tacked on the end, it's good but once again Celestia being forced to be so out of character makes it hollow. As well the audio is jumpy and the lack of it in some places is awkward, the voice acting where it was was ok, but 22 minutes of showing off animation skills that are impressive doesn't save this
Celestia is out of character because she somehow has become "corrupted" so it is out of character. "Forced moral tacked on the end"--well it is difficult to fit a story in a short episode and for what its worth it did show a lot of the info leading up to it. The story reminds me a lot like the movie "Inception" with its fast-paced story. Technical problems happens as no one is an expert. I felt that everyone did an amazing job Voice Acting, though Cougar Macdowell had some difficulty on VAing for Time Turner but I am certain he did his best. The effort the Entire Team put into this is very evident and easy to see. A year and a half in the making, and I guarantee you it was a consistent job. I understand your point of view, but it is important (especially on fan-made projects) to focus on giving information that can help them be better.

they have 22 minutes of time to tell a story, and we get a fast paced rushed story that doesn't make any sense with the plot jumping around and barely connecting with the rest of the story. and that whole throw away line about her being corrupted is cheap, its a video show don't tell. its ok but its just a fandom wish fulllfilment for the background ponies to have head cannon personalities tacked onto them and retcon the whole point of the mane six being the elements of harmony.

The thing is that the MLP Fandom is wondering if Rainbowdash and Applejack got the wrong elements. Rainbow should have honesty, because she often blurts out whatever is on her mind, even when AJ stays quiet instead of telling the truth. AJ is always loyal to her friends and family. RD shows more honesty than loyalty, and AJ shows more loyalty than honesty. Rainbow was quick to abandon Ponyville's team for the wonderbolts, in "Rainbow Falls".
Why does Doctor Hooves speak so fast? It's annoying. Also, lots of the animation is janky like when the perspective changes. Lots of this feels blank too with the lack of sound.

Overall, pretty decent. The animation was good, except for the jumps between 2/3D. The storyline, just needed a bit more exposition, I know it takes forever to make these animations, but a movie- length one would have been even better. There are a lot of unanswered questions here (what happened to the Mane 6? Why did Derpy go into that room? Why did Celestia do her thing there? Who are the new Elements?) this was far from terrible, but it needed a plot more well thought out. I've written my share of scripts, and the pacing is very hard at first, but that is why I edit it over the course of a few months, after making a list of everything I need to say, then I write a draft and ask a third party about what they still don't get. I hope to see more from your crew here, you have a lot of potential, you guys just need some practice. If you want coherent pointers, feel free to message me on here, I'll try to give you more feedback you can use. Keep it up, and good luck.
Oh, and for you people who hated this, express your opinions, but in ways that give these people tips on how to improve, so their next thing is even better. Saying "I hated this you suck you got elements wrong and I didn't understand jack" isn't helpful unless you tell them how to fix it.

Game critics don't make video games... Should they be dismissed too? You don't need a degree in life in order to criticize a work. I find the animation bad, and no, I don't animate. There were too many quiet and awkward moments. The animation would go to 30 fps to 15 fps. No, trying to make it more cinematic is not an excuse. The sound design could use A LOT of work. The animation is ok, but too unstable. The quality of animation keeps going up and down every frame. I could write more, but I would just bore anyone at this point.

One of the fan theories said that RD and AJ had personalities fitting more for the other elements, and it turned out that the colours of the elements matched more this way with Time Turner and Vinyl Scratch.

all the haters just need to stop. like right now. this is a fan work, meaning trying to compare it to the official shows quality is just wrong as they dont have the budget like the show writer staff does. they did the best with what they could. and this animation was VERY well done.
the alternate element bearers made sense. and as for the ending part, show me one official MLP episode where the ending wasnt slightky rushed due to time constraints. the creators of this clearly worked hard and the managed to make it the same length as a normal episode as well. the reasoning behind celestias downfall actually made sense, yet unlike nightmare moon she still had a sense if herself within. she probably allowed the speech from dinky to finish because she found a way to stop her from continuing her dark actions.
overall it was a very well made animation, and it made me feel for the characters as well.
for all you haters. go spend over a year working FOR FREE and make your own animation. smh

you understand nobody cares about the animation right? It's the voice acting needs a bit of work. The overall Plot is a mess and it's so confusing and hard to follow.
Honestly speaking, this is great. The animation was done really well, and the concept of the whole story is actually pretty revolutionary... The on,y problem is, the many plotholes cover that fact.
I was confused at first, despite the narrations and animations depicting the story. There are a lot of plotholes that need to be filled.
Also, some elements were mismatched. When did the Element of Loyalty became Honesty, and vice-versa?
And DETERMINATION? I was thinking of a certain game when I heard that word...
a plothole is when a story contradicts itself, not when it leaves something unexplained.

For those who are confused about the story, here's what I think happened. This does contain spoilers. Obviously.
There is a prophecy that when the Elements of Harmony vanish, a silver alicorn with a golden mane will appear and guide the ponies to return the Elements to Equestria.
When the charms of the Elements break, Celestia believes that there is no hope. She feels pressured and goes insane. She seals the Mane Six with a magic spell. Luna tries to prevent this, and thus is unfairly imprisoned in the moon. Celestia, in her insanity, decides to make eternal night, so that her sister can still be with her without interfering in her plans.
Derpy Hooves goes to confront Princess Celestia. Celestia's hair turns purely pink, like it was when she was much younger. Ashamed, Celestia teleports to the Canterlot Library.
Meanwhile, Dinky Hooves is staying home with Amythest Star. Dinky is impatient and uses a minor sleeping spell on Amythest, enough to escape to Canterlot.
Derpy Hooves discovers that Time Turner, Lyra Heartstrings, Bon Bon, Vinyl Scratch, and Octavia have followed her to Canterlot. They decide to stop Princess Celestia together.
Derpy arrives at the library first to discover that Dinky is already trying to confront Celestia. Derpy is happy that Dinky is safe and tries to fight Celestia. She fails miserably. Dinky, on the other hoof, puts up a good enough fight to stall Celestia so that Time Turner and friends can enter the library. As they enter, Dinky has a vision of how much Derpy and friends have helped and inspired her. Dinky reminds Celestia that the charms on the Elements of Harmony are only symbolic. It's what's on the inside that counts.
She names Octavia the Element of Kindness, Vinyl the Element of Honesty, Bon Bon the Element of Laughter, Lyra the Element of Generosity, and Time Turner the Element of Loyalty. Dinky is Magic. Derpy is convinced that she has no Element, but Dinky says that Derpy is in fact the forgotten Element of Inspiration. For those of you who don't know, Inspiration was originally going to be Rarity's Element.
So the seven ponies work together and bring Luna back from the moon. Celestia snaps out of her trance. Derpy Hooves, renamed Bright Eyes, becomes an alicorn. The seven ponies stand in for the Mane Six until they return to their rightful places as the Element Bearers.

Wow, just, wow. After watching this I'm honestly speechless. This was by far one of the best animated films I've seen in my time, and I've seen thousands. Stunning visuals, amazing voice acting, great story, all of it comes together beautifully in this masterpiece, this, breath taking work of art. I still can't believe this is a fan animation! Hasbro should let this animator animate one of its movies! Love this channel's work, absolutely amazing. 20/10, tbh.

This is a really cute fan animation and I really love it a lot! Derpy Hooves is one of my favorite characters in MLP and I love the explanation for her Cutie Mark being about her clumsiness; luck and fragility definitely represent Derpy’s character, and I love this a whole lot.
Sure, it has its flaws and such. It’s not perfect. But I’ve always adored the idea of the Background Mane Six going on an adventure to help save the world.

Pointing out flaws is good for the creator. It tells them how they can improve.
I actually liked the writing, there was some suprisingly deep idea behind the story. Also, the animation was amazing, very successfully combining 3D animation with the original MLP one. The only thing I believe could've been done better is the audio.
Music stops too abruptly at some points, many important characters speak too softly (celestia) or not at all. And the sounds of fighting, falling etc. could've been recorded in better quality. The overall impression is very good though. I can only wish the creators of Double Rainboom fan episode used animation like this.
And by the way, it'd be much more impressive if the creators made their own background music instead of just stealing it from the show, but since it fits so well, I'm not complaining.

This animation is great
The animation and music is pretty good but the script doesn't make any sense and Celestia is too out of character for this to be plausible. As well the the forced moral tacked on the end, it's good but once again Celestia being forced to be so out of character makes it hollow. As well the audio is jumpy and the lack of it in some places is awkward, the voice acting where it was was ok, but 22 minutes of showing off animation skills that are impressive doesn't save this
Celestia is out of character because she somehow has become "corrupted" so it is out of character. "Forced moral tacked on the end"--well it is difficult to fit a story in a short episode and for what its worth it did show a lot of the info leading up to it. The story reminds me a lot like the movie "Inception" with its fast-paced story. Technical problems happens as no one is an expert. I felt that everyone did an amazing job Voice Acting, though Cougar Macdowell had some difficulty on VAing for Time Turner but I am certain he did his best. The effort the Entire Team put into this is very evident and easy to see. A year and a half in the making, and I guarantee you it was a consistent job. I understand your point of view, but it is important (especially on fan-made projects) to focus on giving information that can help them be better.

they have 22 minutes of time to tell a story, and we get a fast paced rushed story that doesn't make any sense with the plot jumping around and barely connecting with the rest of the story. and that whole throw away line about her being corrupted is cheap, its a video show don't tell. its ok but its just a fandom wish fulllfilment for the background ponies to have head cannon personalities tacked onto them and retcon the whole point of the mane six being the elements of harmony.

The thing is that the MLP Fandom is wondering if Rainbowdash and Applejack got the wrong elements. Rainbow should have honesty, because she often blurts out whatever is on her mind, even when AJ stays quiet instead of telling the truth. AJ is always loyal to her friends and family. RD shows more honesty than loyalty, and AJ shows more loyalty than honesty. Rainbow was quick to abandon Ponyville's team for the wonderbolts, in "Rainbow Falls".

Overall, pretty decent. The animation was good, except for the jumps between 2/3D. The storyline, just needed a bit more exposition, I know it takes forever to make these animations, but a movie- length one would have been even better. There are a lot of unanswered questions here (what happened to the Mane 6? Why did Derpy go into that room? Why did Celestia do her thing there? Who are the new Elements?) this was far from terrible, but it needed a plot more well thought out. I've written my share of scripts, and the pacing is very hard at first, but that is why I edit it over the course of a few months, after making a list of everything I need to say, then I write a draft and ask a third party about what they still don't get. I hope to see more from your crew here, you have a lot of potential, you guys just need some practice. If you want coherent pointers, feel free to message me on here, I'll try to give you more feedback you can use. Keep it up, and good luck.
Oh, and for you people who hated this, express your opinions, but in ways that give these people tips on how to improve, so their next thing is even better. Saying "I hated this you suck you got elements wrong and I didn't understand jack" isn't helpful unless you tell them how to fix it.

ShortLink I do not like My little Pony, and Honesty is about being honest, but in a kind way. The person could have just said: Great animation, but could use some improvements/a lot in the writing. She didn't have to say: But, AWFUL writing. That is no honestly, this is just plain rude. From what knowledge I have of the show, the honesty element is about being TRUTHFUL and KIND. Plus well if you can't exept my opinion fo what she has to say, HOW ABOUT YOU HAVE A CHANGE IN ATTITUDE. That's pretty much what you said to me. I just think she could be KINDER in how she explains it.

I find the animation bad, and no, I don't animate. There were too many quiet and awkward moments. The animation would go to 30 fps to 15 fps.
No, trying to make it more cinematic is not an excuse.
The sound design could use A LOT of work.
The animation is ok, but too unstable. The quality of animation keeps going up and down every frame.
I could write more, but I would just bore anyone at this point.

Reading all these hate comments are so annoying. Minty Root already said she would have taken this video down long ago but her subscribers wanted her to keep it up. When your rushed you make mistakes, this is probably what happened to Minty and that's why she got the elements mixed. If she had a year or more this would have been better...I'm not hating on this video. I'm simply just saying my OPINION. It seems like people are getting more and more stupid. I never knew it was wrong to have an opinion. And I'm not hating the people who commented their opinion. All I'm saying is, there is (I know this is so cliche and what adults say) if you have nothin nice to say, don't say nothing at all. I love this video. One of the fan theories said that RD and AJ had personalities fitting more for the other elements, and it turned out that the colours of the elements matched more this way with Time Turner and Vinyl Scratch.

Hit hard -- I have glasses because of my amblyopia and sometimes elders think it's weird that I started wearing glasses when I was young; that I use electronics too much which wasn't a lie but it made me feel ashamed of myself and regretful.
