Hi Avi! I completely agree, the live experience is unbeatable. Fans of any singer can listen to any song from their homes at any time and still choose to go see live concerts because it has a very special energy, its just not the same. I do feel like opera/ classical music could reach a lot more people than what it currently does if it were marketed/advertised in a different way ( dont really have an answer for this, just a thought). Anyways, its really nice to have discovered a similar minded channel ( I am a conductor specializing in opera) so keep up the good work!
I just checked out your channel it's fantastic! And yes I have many ideas on opera and marketing and it's definitely got to change!
and yes live music will never disappear! People listen to Adele and Beyonce all the time and still go to see them in concert! Opera is no different!

So glad you're mentioning this! I live in Northern Ireland and the general consensus here amongst my colleagues is it's a slap in the face. We're only getting 33 million. Out of 1.57 BILLION pounds, we're only getting a crumb which will be eaten up within months! I think smaller cities need MORE help than for example, the ROH which have incredibly generous donors and patrons. We really don't have a great support network that London already has! It's very helpful, and deeply appreciated, but I feel the money could have been split better, there's more culture to be found in the UK than just England!
YES!!! I totally agree! And I'm glad I posted this video, I'm not gonna lie, I was mad the decided to announce that they were going to give the money to the arts last night after I have filmed and partially edited the video.. haha!!
But yes the UK is way bigger then just London! and if arts aren't supported everywhere then it won't matter that the big houses have funding because no one will know what they are their for anyway...

@@VivsGreen Nooo, your video was perfect for the Gumption Club audience I would say. ;) And yes! Last semester I went on an Erasmus exchange to Hamburg, and if you're new to the university you can basically go to 80% of opera shows for free, one semester long. I had only seen a handful of operas before but managed to see like 8 that one semester in Hamburg! It was sooooo much fun wow

Kol hakavod. One way those of us with subscriptions to the arts can help, is to allow the money that was already paid for performances that did not happen :-( to stay with the different theaters/opera houses/companies instead of requesting our money back.
I can't wait for the curtain to go up!!!
PS. Other performances that brought real life situations before an audiences eyes and taught us something include Rent and Angels in America.
Yes 100%!! it's not like you can see that money in your account now anyway type thing.
And yes! Rent and Angels in America totally changed the conversation!
