  • Street Soldiers Web Extra: Lisa Evers talked to Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda about his new solo album called "Post Traumatic," the death of bandmate Chester Bennington, and the future of Linkin Park.
Shinoda told Lisa that his goal with the new songs was to peel away every layer of superficiality in the national mental health conversation. He spoke candidly about his friend Chester, who took his life in July 2017. Shinoda talked about the loss and the sadness but also the good memories and the therapeutic nature of songwriting.
NOTE: Anyone who needs help can call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-8255. You will be transferred to the crisis center nearest you. The calls are free and confidential. Para soporte de crisis en Español, llame 888-628-9454.

Clearly people are divided on this subject and hold different opinions. The real thing to look at here is how many artists musicians are out there speaking on this subject everyday and named their album after a mental illness? Not very many. Mike Shinoda I love you. Straight to the point honesty. Awesome interview.

Stop doing hardcore drugs! If you are already depressed, drugs/alcohol will make it 10x worse! Work out work out work out! Even if you don't wanna be around people just work out alone! Build yourself from inside and outside and fight!

@Brother Dude it did save him though. If chester never worked out and let himself psysically fall apart he might have died by suicide years earlier. He fought his depression but all it takers is one moment to take someone one step closer to the edge. Depending how close to the edge they already are that could be the step that sends them spiralling down to death.

That was a very good interview. Thank you Mike Shinoda for his wonderful insight and answers about Mental Health.
It scares me some as I do not have adequate support or care for my Mental Health. My cat is really all that keeps me going and at times still contemplate. My illness has destroyed me in a lot of ways. I am not as sweet, kind, or as giving as I once was. I lost the Danelle I was and liked. I feel scared also because people who have supportive friends and family died by suicide but I don’t have any support, what other then my cat should I stay for.
Unfortunately It will always be an option for me. Id trade places with Chester if I could.
I really didn’t want to say all this. But for now Im just ok and taking care of my cat who is my Baby, my best friend, and only company I get. Her name is Sophie May. Sophilisious-Sophinator

Thanks for the highlight. Tell your boss to take some sensitivity training or find some new line of work. Bosses who abuse their employees are at every level of the working class in America and they need exposed fired and even jailed in some cases. Girl you can do better and don't ever let some bad person try to wear you thin or talk down to you. Every human being on this earth is equal regardless of wealth or status and deserve the proper respect at work. I can pay them a visit and teach them sensitivity training. ....the hard way? Lol. Im always here and support you. We are the army of fans that love shinoda and each other.

He did seek help he saw therapists he quit drugs long ago and sometimes still got drunk what he needed was people around him like him who understood him he didn’t seem to have much of that being that mike and talinda never suffered depression his friend Chris Cornell did but then again he hung himself accidentally over antidepressants and alcohol Chester died thinking no one left to understand me.. fans are just fan of the music they don’t know me that is what I think but in the end it doesn’t even matter

it seems like a good cover story. even for his wife, let alone the record company. both stood to make $$$$$$. i read that all their albums went to the top 40 and had an increase 500% of sales. when its the guy next door its mental illness but when a shit ton of money is involved it maybe murder.
