  • Just received this feeder today for my mare. Quality seems very strong. I do think someone can makeshift their own if they're crafty with the right materials. I do think these are overpriced for what they are. The grazer pan is much taller than it needs to be because it takes up half of the feeder on its own. Overall my mare figured it out right away and I like the quality. Hoping this will make the soaking process easier than what I used to do (soaked nets of hay in plastic bins. Most of all hoping that this will help reduce the amount of wasted hay.

    Hey there- The pan is actually designed to be above the lip of the barrel after the introductory period.. That is what the tabs are for- it allows the pan to be above the lip of the barrel yet still stay locked in. Also - do not leave the plug in when it is given to the horse- they can step on it and break out that drain area. Made in the USA :)

      Soaking reduces the sugar in the hay if your horse is prone to flounder.
      Also removes dust and rehydration of the grass hay.
