Very few. I was watching LOST and I could tell the real Australian actors from the American/Canadian actors who were playing an Aussie role. It was way overdone.
That was very good. I'm from Adelaide as well, and I never actually thought about the difference in accent until you pointed it out. You hit the nail right on the head. The whole video is actually very accurate on breaking down the core of an Aussie accent. Well done. Enjoyed it very much. Cheers Rob
I’m from NY and every time I do an Aussie accent I guess I do the Adelaide accent? I love saying words ending in the “oh” sound, there’s so much character. And her explaining that you guys put the R sound on the beginning of the second word when In between vowel sounds kinda blew my mind. It’s something intuitive to the native speaker but I wouldn’t have picked that up. “The cah Ris over there” makes it a lot easier to imitate the accent honestly. Idk why the fuck I’m here, I do an Aussie accent maybe 2-3 times a year haha.
I'm Australian too im from Melbourne and my accent is similar to yours. I did live in the south of England for a yr awhile ago and i started speaking with an English accent but once i was home after afew months my aussieness came back 😊 omg you're so right we do do the r in front of is lol
As an Australian, I never realised that thing about adding the unnecessary 'r' in sentences. I don't really say "Fiona'ris coming" though. I do however say "the car ris moving"
I used to be quite smitten by Rhapsody (Ruth Fallon) as well as Harmony when I watched this when I was younger, both girls back then were indeed very cute and very beautiful especially when they used to jump up and down excitedly and also giggle a lot too! :D
You're adorable. Wonderful tutorial. I'm from Alice Springs, NT and our accent differs largely from Adelaide. I was raised by grandparents, so my accent is more on the Ocker side. You should do an Ocker Aussie accent tutorial! That'd be legend! Haha
I know this video is 6 years old, but I have a natural Boston accent and I struggle with the Australian accent at the beginning of words and not going too nasal or increasing my pitch. It took me 18 months to say "No," like my fellow Victorians which is like you've described Sydney but with a hint upspeak. It's so weird how Aussies can fit so many vowel sounds into a two letter word.
Omg... as an Aussie myself(Qlder), I really didn’t notice these little details, like ‘’the ca-ris-moving’’ or even ‘’gud’’ And then I repeated the words you said out loud and.... mind blown 🤯 LOL 😆 Cheers for this video! I don’t know why I’m surprised at our accent but I am ha!

Hey I never really thought of the R sound in between vowels before... but that's because as Aussies we would rather turn shorten it from "The car is coming" to "Thecar'scomin"
Actually when you just say "first, heard, word", I immediately recognise you as an Aussi. Australian accent looks very similar to British, but few small words can betray the accent sometimes and make it easier to discren.
I’m an American living in the U.S. and I have an Adelaide-born friend who still resides there. Her accent is SO THICK, there are times I literally cannot understand what she’s saying. 😂
After I said "car," you said, "just like that!". I'm proud of myself.
Awww hahahahaha I’m proud of you
The Aussie accent is one of the hardest for foreigners to speak as most actors sound British and only a a few can actually do it right.
oh yes, it is quite a hard one. I'm Australian and even I can hear the complexity in it
