Windows and Xbox Game Pass run perfect on the Ally. The ROG Ally ships with Windows 11 Home integrated with Armoury Crate, a software utility developed by Asus. Armoury Crate lets the user quickly configure thermal design power with several pre-adjusted presets, as well as change the refresh rate, screen resolution, limit frame rate and adjust clock rates. Armoury Crate also acts as a game launcher, automatically compiling the user's game library from third-party launchers like Xbox Game Pass, GOG and Epic. 2 games I'm most curious about are dungeons of hinterberg and still wakes the deep !
if i can get 48 to 60 fps i m more than happy, vrr works between this and battery life it's also great, it can go up to 120 vrr but it will dig in through that battery
I really like how Asus Rog Ally's evolved new version Asus Rog Ally X looks cool with the black color and a rainbow rings under the joysticks looks beautiful, games looks surprisilly good only on a Full HD without having an OLED screen! I want to ask how this is an upgrade am I right there is a Full HD screen on the Original Asus Rog Ally too? Maybe i'm wrong with that and X really is a HUGE Upgrade for Asus Rog Ally, but it's too expensive price 950€ is the only, but the BIGGEST problem for me to buy Asus Rog Ally X I'll think I need to staying my plan to buy Steam Deck Oled the King of the Handhelds as you said in this video what was so good The Ultimate Linux Handheld Experience the whole video is the Ultimate Experience thank you Eta Prime! 🖤🌈
Hey ETA could you please connect a onexgpu please using ockulink
Keep making the great content ❤❤
Thanks
While it is being charged and is connected to another storage drive

I already put a 4 tb in my Rog ally x… works great windows obviously.. but coming from steam deck I miss certain features.. maybe I’ll run emudeck in this instead of windows?
Do you notice the max brightness being lower in Bazzite vs. Windows? I have my Ally setup with a dual boot situation but it seems like the max brightness on Bazzite is lower (to my eyes) than Windows?
@@brianporter9979 jub
This thing would fly off the shelves if it had OLED, even without VRR.
Yes 100 %. My dream handheld would be the rog ally with the screen from the steamdeck oled.
I'm really curious if with Linux you can prioritize power to the GPU instead of the CPU. Once we start seeing that I think we'll get better performance in Linux.
@@JC7119 to me that sounds like what you can already do on the steam deck OS
Can't wait to see if the orange pi neo will run
Great video! Have you tested Apex legends? That's what I mostly play and was interested to how it performs both docked and undocked ( FPS and max playable resolution ).
I thought easy anticheat doesn't work on Linux.
Please! Make a gaming performance comparison between Bazzite os and Windows in a PC gaming rig. Pretty please!
If only we could dual-boot windows and Steam OS on the Ally X.
Dude I think I saw you at the Durham Rescue Mission not too long ago.
I'm thinking about whether I should buy a Steam Deck Oled or the Asus ROG Ally X. How well can you play strategy games with the Ally X?
Do you need the trackpads? Then buy the Deck. If you don’t then get the Ally X
@@crestofhonor2349 trackpads only for strategie games ?
The Deck offers the most bang for your buck, if you ask me. If money is not an issue, go for the Ally X.
Ally X wins on all front honestly ONLY if you're going to install bazzite
In Germany the X costs €899 and the OLED costs €679, I don't want to buy used hardware.
What about playing strategy on the X because of the controls?
Decky loader works with plugins?
@@gambaownsus by loading bazzite on it, you can install decky loader on the first boot setup
Yes except the fan tool and power tools. but Bazzite has built in controls for both of those.
Can you install Bazzite if you already have the X set up or do I have to do a fresh wipe on my X then install bazzite and my games?
Can you have a shared "DATA" Driver where you can install games and this drive can be used bu Bazzite and Windows in dual boot setups?
Asus Rog ally x is incredible
It is. I got mine on Monday haven't been able to put it down
It is I want to buy it, but the price 950€ is my BIGGEST problem with it... 😅
no
But is expensive Price 699$ good
People keep coping. The ROG Ally X is amazing as hell. It’s powerful and it has actual good battery life. People keep complaining about it having no OLED display or Z2 processor and the RMA’s but here’s the thing- people have to be careful with their devices. People love to cope for the stupidest stuff.
Linux is the only way to go with these. These companies need to be shipping these with Linux and funding these projects.
Is bazzite Linux or steam based? Will destiny and fc 24 work with it? Newer call of duties? Can it be dual booted with stock windows it comes with and bazzite seperately?
@@Yamatoshinjimoto linux bro.
Now just put an AMD 300 chip in this and it's good to go for a few years!
Finally pulled the trigger on a handheld gaming system after spending months deliberating, at first because i wanted to get a Steam Deck, then the OLED versión came out and as i was about to get that one, the original Ally dropped and put those foolish ambitions to rest.
Afterwards, while being torn between those two i heard the Ally was being upgrade so i had to wait some more lol. Bought the damn thing yesterday and now i am looking foward to it.
I see everyone isbswapping the SSD for a bigger one (obviously). Is it easy? And i mean with the BIOS updates and stuff
I would definitely do this just because I’m sick of having to touch my screen and get fingerprints on it on my windows handhelds
You have armory create on the ally. You don't need the touchscreen there to start a game. You can also start the big picture mode with steam on windows.
Could you kindly test Satisfactory and Dyson Sphere Program ? Thinking about getting this as mobile PC with gaming function
Forza Motorsport, please...
There is one important thing missing - a battery charging limiter.
Rewatch 3:38
Does VRR work on Bazite?
Yeah, its work, at least for me :)
Yes
Good day which OS runs emulators better bazzite or windows, would love to know you opinion because it would mean alot before I spill my drive to install bazzite.
This is the way.
I have 2 questions
1.When will the Rog Ally 2 come out?
2.Should i get the rog ally x or Ayaneo Flip DS (Price doesent matter to me)
Bro why would any of us know when the ally 2 comes out? Lmao. Get the ally x between the two.
@@GrimAbstract im just asking
There's ally oled tomorrow x is oled now , rog said remove the warranty because we made model models
Has anyone found a way to enable the gamepad when in desktop mode? The only gamepad control that works is the right stick which controls the on screen mouse.
Can you please make more content of this combo plss
Would it possible to install Emudeck for steam OS and retro games that way?
It will install, though I'm not sure how well it behaves outside of the Deck hardware.
@@theviniso Works perfectly fine, emudeck is an option in the bazzite portal when you first launch the system and will work just like on the steamdeck.
@HikariKnight actually ally fans lying 🤥 they said even steam updates will works normally on different devices who this can happen and the the drivers differents
@@HikariKnightHello hikari, Do you still hang out in CTT chat?
@@tanmaypanadi1414 when he does not stream late at night and i am not busy i tend to pop in. but i have been on vacation for 3 weeks with little internet access, i did pop in the other day though.
All these handhelds should be running Steam.
I don't understand why Valve hasn't cut deals with these other manufacturers. It would only help SteamOS grow faster (and Linux).
You can put steam to run in big picture mode on start up.
@allbboss I agree my main pc I switched to Linux after that ai stuff. I just thought he ment steam
@@coldsun1187 so is there Steam only on Steam Deck/Steam Deck Oled and Lenovo Legion Go?
Why? People use other launchers besides Steam
Hey I was actually wondering if you could test a dual boot on the ally x with about a 100gb partition for windows a 100gb partition for Bazzite then the rest of the disk as a game library that can share files between both os’s I was curious if this is possible? Or if there are any differences in the game files that might cause issues between Linux/windows?
Is AFMD and other AMD features possible? Especially cpu boost
I'm on the fence with bazzite, although I am very hopeful it will mature really nicely rather quickly. By the time the Ally 2 comes out hopefully this OS has been polished.
What GPU and CPU could you compare with Asus Rog Ally X ? I have i7 9700K & RTX 2080 Super. Is Ally X better ?
these are APU not comparable to dedicated gpu. these run under 30watts of power so close to Ultra low power laptop chips. max it's going to be comparable to GTx 1060 pascal generation dedicated cards
So why the newest games not playable on gtx 1600 work on Asus Rog ally ?
How do you think future games although for 2 next years will work on Rog Ally X ? I think about games of 2024 like God of War Ragnarok and Assassins creed Shadows and also future games like new tomb raider, the Witcher, mafia, prince of Persia, Far cry etc... ?
Maybe battery draw on bazzite is higher because it reports SoC + display usage and windows is just reporting SoC usage?
Can you test out bazzite os on those rx6400xt builds, I'm considering buying one of those to put in to my hp eletedesk gen 1
@ETA PRIME I am just guessing, maybe DOLBY ATMOS drivers are not yet supported
What about Bazzite on the older Ally, regular version (not extreme)?
@keithwick6170 uh, the led started working around joystick with the ally x update. Really good , benefits both devices
ETA, is Bazzite better than Chimera? It's been a long while since you last used Chimera...
I don't think it matters. both are Linux under the hood.
What about Bios updates? Would operating Bazzite hinder the performance without them?
how about using EMUDECK on bazzite??
Can we configure Touch Menus on the touch screen via Steam Control options? Thanks!!!
Thanks for the video. Been using Bazzite for a few months and having a few issues that you might be able to explain. I am getting the update icon but don't think it has been working. I have yet to see the xbox elite option. I was using Decky for TDP and didn't realize that you could do it with the double tap on armory crate now. I am on the ROG Ally Extreme original...is there a way to force update bazzite so I stop getting the message to update and seeing the same info most times? Thanks.
How would you update the BIOS on the Ally once this is installed as it's normally handled through Armoury Crate?
Oof. Make this with an OLED panel and hx370/890 and wifi 7 and thunderbolt egpu capable and run steamOS and I'll buy one o.o
that means the sleep/pause mode will work ? :O
Yes without having to use hibernation
Is it perfect too for the rog ally z1 extreme?
Considering that ghost spectre runs better on my aly then regular stock windows did, and considering that manjaro runs even better I'd have to give it a solid go
All the steam deck need is that z1 chip
Gut feeling tells me Valve is skipping the z1, and the steamdeck 2 will use a strix halo APU releasing next year
@@danielrdotcom They did say they are waiting for a bigger step up in APU power and efficiency before releasing the next Deck so you're probably right.
Can you test out genshin impact ,Zenless zone zero and pal world on the ally x?
Question tho. Do you NEED windows at all for hardware updates?
@gamezerge1229 Yes for bios updates mainly, I have a dual boot, and it works great
You can update the BIOS without Windows, but it's a little more advanced so if you're not comfortable with that definitely dual boot
Is this combo ready enough to safely retire my deck OLED yet?
@ETA PRIME
Is anyone else having as much trouble as I am? I’ve followed every step I’ve seen, including disabling secure and fast boot, yet I’m still met with error codes when installing BOS.
I can't get to main menu in Still Wakes the Deep on my rog ally running Bazzite? It just black screens and locks up. Have you tried playing Still Wakes the Deep?
