@@scotchette I mentioned that. That is why Cindy can look at the system and see it for what it is when she was too young and too close to the job. As a mother, one would think that she would have her stop modeling. Yes, the money is good, but you cannot have it both ways. I don't watch talk shows anymore. So women who sold and exposed their bodies for money and fame are now upset that people talked about their bodies? OK, but if women are serious about this, they really need to stop sexualizing themselves. Why is it OK for Cardi B to talk about her WAP? The media is way more gross today compared to the 1980's. Since the internet, its become normalized for young women to do Onlyfans, and other online sex work. Today many women in the media look plastic with all the plastic surgery, breast implants, lip injections, butt implants, liposuction, botox. I think women were much better off in the 1980's

Is it possible that cindy is using this old clip of that 'compliment' to remind ppl of her appeal from her younger days b/c she's feeling a bit left out now that her daughter has taken over her glory road? Sometimes ppl use reverse psych games on us to make it look like they're upset when really it's a kind of false modesty trip and they cover up their braggy info by making it look like they're offended? It could be this too.
Ego-driven ppl in an ego-driven industry use this kind of thing to stir up 'movements'(like w/ the 5th wave feminists who are often hiding behind the 'good cause' of this while they passively-aggressively play a diff ploy & use their 'cause' as a nice cover to hide behind)..these issues really aren't about movements at all but are about showing off things they want to show us as new project or remind us of their value/ relevance again (in Cindy's case, I think it's both) b/c they feel they need more attention?
I suspect that could be it or maybe part of it - Cindy's coy little publicity stunt while her star fades as she ages & her daughter dominates the fashion scene now. Celebs do it all the time. I've been to H-wood enough to see their games and also have been in marketing and sales my whole life so I see it from various angles and most ppl forget that pub stunts are very big - esp when someone needs a new fix of a fame hit b/c let's not forget that fame is the biggest drug of all!

I would agree. Plus, Oprah, way back sold everything to get to where she is. She had a smutty show that was purely opportunistic. This is who Oprah is - not the veneer that everyone worships of her. So the shock is weird. I mean, Cindy is also an unnaturally, attactive individual who does have exceptional proportions. She was on the show as the new model - of course Oprah was going to exploit her. No surprise to anyone unless you fell victim to Oprah's halo that has weirdly been issued to her over the past 15 years (or however long it's been).

Apparently, her money quiets a lot in that country. Ever since her scam, Maui charity was exposed for the tax scheme and land grab that it is several reporters have been exposing her past shenanigans. She used OW to hitch a ride to fame at age 20 and now she uses her again as a stepping stone to secure more relevance in a diff way at 57. Talk about your sycophant-opportunist!
I know O is a sell-out too and I am not a fan of her either, but when someone is innocent or not wrong, I will defend them b/c I am defending the truth that is the side they happen to be on at the time. We should be principled about things, not biased b/c of our fave celebs or what-not. In this case, O was just being complimentary and Cindy later goes hunting for any little thing she can find for her documentary to play a victim game since her sex appeal has faded - at least on the mainstream level now that her young daughter has taken over her old scene.
Her new attention seeking method comes by way of virtue signaling and playing the victim card b/c she has no other talents or legit things to fall back on for relevance. She may be smart in academia from her scholarship to be a chem engineer BUT her EQ is apparently very low as she is basically an emotional paraplegic as she barely wheel-chairs herself into this half-ass logical fallacy of a farce. This victim game is the new currency in order to be relevant today. It sells as much, if not more than sex! So sad and pathetic are these high school hipsters! Aren’t all three categories the issue? If the person is a minor then you blame the parents, but otherwise even a model can say no. I think the real reason Cindy Crawford is mad at Oprah is because she thought Oprah would rescue her or stop the industry, but actually Cindy Crawford had more power than Oprah. Look at how some of these other women handle the interviews where they simply turn the joke back on the person asking like, “seriously when did we start asking about underwear?” The truth is if you don’t want people asking then you say no to that costume that leaves a little to the imagination.

In today's society and culture, those questions are inappropriate. The Super models also worked with the fashion photographers, of that era before 1995, who delivered pure art works, which deserves their own fashion photography museums with permanent exhibitions. Nowadays the artistic context is gone, it all died out in the midst of 1990. What we see today is dull untalented nepo based fashion models and boring fashion photography where of course the plastic surgery industry is playing a huge part as whoever can be called a supermodel with some surgery- botox-filler help. rip real supermodels😢

I always thought so - her statement was “if I can do it, so can you”. Yeah, but she had a chef, an exercise guru, assistants, etc and she STILL yo-yoed.

Back in the 80’s women were treated really badly.. I was a model, and men slapped me on the butt, said inappropriate things, acted like we were objects. It’s a bit better today, but there’s still people (mostly older men) who haven’t evolved out of that old mind set. It’s really embarrassing not for me, but for the ones that still behave badly. I read an article recently that wrote about how women in general are evolving at a faster rate then men. I see it all the time.

It was even worse the decade before the supermodel era. I worked in advertising in New York & London where the men were a disgrace - especially the Creatives. Every single day there would a man drooling, touching or making vile remarks which we just had to put up with or were even supposed to be flattered by. Most were married with a girlfriend and wanted even more. We thought it was normal. I got fed up with it & went back into music where, amazingly, it didn't happen. I'm pleased the way things have turned round but hope it doesn't go the other way where men feel esmasculated. Good for Cindy for verbalising her opinion.

Things were VERY DIFFERENT back in the 80’s post the women’s feminist movement of the 60’s & 70s.
I’ve been watching a LOT of English and & tiny bit of American detective dramas made in the 80s & I find myself sympathising with the men often because THEIR roles & rules had to change too & it was a confusing time for them.
I had my first second and third children, one a year, back in the late 70s and early 80s.
I CHOSE to be a stay at home mum which was pretty lonely because my new friends in my new city & state had chosen careers over kids at that time.
Socially people would ask “what do you do?”.
    I’m a mum I’d answer proudly.
“Yes. But what do you DO?” They’d ask again.
I was accused of wasting my intellect. The feminist movement was meant to be about MORE CHOICE for women + equal pay for equal work.
MOST of the JUDGEMENT came from other WOMEN.
