I have a '24 Xtek Wilderness. The Scangauge idea is good. There are many displays to choose from. I have had one in the past. As an option, if you already have a cooler installed, just add a temp sensor inline to your cooler. Just another option. Take care.

Nice choice on the 24 CW! This is a 24 FW that I just got. Yeah, if there wasn't already a factory CVT temp sensor, I'd definitely add one. Pretty much the most important thing to monitor while your hitting the trails.

What’s a typical operating temperature on the forester for just city/freeway driving, no harsh conditions?

Normal CVT temp is about 175 to 185 F. 220 F is my hard stop point.

I’d like to put an axillary transmission cooler in my 19 Forester Touring.
I know that it’s standard on the Wilderness model.
Just by dropping the transmission fluid temperature by 20 degrees is a major difference in the longevity of both your transmission fluid and engine oil temperatures.

You're right, It makes a huge difference! I made a video about how to add one. I bet you could take the video and the necessary parts to a mechanic and have him install it.

@@MatthewHeiskell our local mechanic works exclusively on Subaru’s.
He won’t even change the oil on my Ford pickup

I never use acetone on plastic. Use rubbing alcohol.

You’re 100% right, I just wanted to make sure I removed the layer of mold release, even if that meant removing some of the plastic. 😄

How did you type in "TXD" with the buttons on the Scan Gauge? I don't see where that was shown. Thanks.

I stop and let it cool if it hits 230F. Here is more info on the topic: bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/cvt-transmission-temperature.299404/
