Dude Eragon was and is still my favorite book to this day!! Def recommend to those who haven’t read it yet. It’s a fairly big book but worth it 100%. More to read and great plot.
Sound advice for you, in case Chris Gore hasn't sent you a message yet. Make Peter Jackson's production team mantra your team's mantra and don't let Disney or Fox get heavy handed with this project. Fans of film have seen way too many failures occur as a result of Fox specifically getting too heavy handed in productions: "We made a promise to ourselves at the beginning of the process that we weren’t going to put any of our own politics, our own messages or our own themes into these movies. In a way we’re trying to make these films for him, the author, not for ourselves.” Do not compromise the vision with excuses like this one: “It felt only natural to us that an adaptation of the author’s work would reflect what the world actually looks like.”
Unfortunately, with Disney being the company to actually produce this, it is inevitable that some of Disney's politics will creep into this. I'm hoping that the individuals directly involved will be able to stay true to the source material as much as possible, but there are definitely things that wont make the cut, things like: - Roran and Katrina's wedding vows being very patriarchal, as one would expect in a medieval-Europe-inspired land (he vows to protect her, while she vows to serve him and give him babies) - Both Roran and Eragon being surprised that there is such a thing as "black people" (iirc Roran even asks if Nasuada is painted to look that way) - Durza giving a captured Arya to the soldiers to... "do with as they would" (even though she prevents them from doing so) And I'm sure much more. Honestly if those are the only things they take out, I'm not gonna be sad (even though I disapprove of removing stuff from a work on principle), but my expectation is that we will end up seeing a lot of stuff shifted around and added in to make it more progressive -
@@lucasallen5415 Well it could either go 2 directions. The GoT direction or the Woke direction neither would be good for the story that is trying to be told.

Reading the books, I believed that a tv series is the best way to adapt them. You and Disney+ have my full support and confidence. It will be great to return to Alagaësia.
Been a huge fan of eragon since I was 8 when I first listened to the audiobook in 2005 in my families camper trailer, I jumped out of my seat when I saw that it will be a show! It is my childhood and always been my favorite series of books. You made me fall in love with fantasy, adventure and magic. I simply cannot wait for this new adventure!!!!!!!
That’s the most amazing/heartbreaking news ever. I’ve wanted this for years since the movie bombed and I’m so so so happy that it’s happening and you’re writing it, but being a writer for that show is a dream of mine that’s clearly done for now. Either way I can’t wait.
I literally cried when I saw the box office bomb that was Eragon. I was absolutely starved for more fantasy content since I finished Half-Blood Prince and wouldn’t see Deathly Hallows for another 2 years when I first discovered your series. I remember being at the Library of my children’s group home onsite school when I found Eragon. It was silent reading period and I curiously picked it up because I loved the artwork of Saphira’s head. Not even a few pages into Arya’s capture by the Shade Durza was I hooked by your story. I immediately ran to Mrs. Anderson, the school’s librarian, to check the book out. I remember checking out Eragon over 20 times because I loved ur book so much. I even immediately asked for it for Christmas that year along with Eldest. You can easily imagine my pain and suffering when Eragon bombed at the box office after falling madly in love with the series. I even found myself replacing Eragon’s name with my own name on rereads cause I wished I could escape into the world of Alagaësia and be its hero instead of an unwanted orphan child in the foster care system.
Phenomenal to learn you're taking such an active role in the new show! :) Your books were really influential to me as a young writer. Wishing all the best for this series!!

My dad read The Hobbit and LotR to us growing up, but The Inheritance Cycle were the first big books I had ever read by myself. The movie was disappointing (it was not a bad movie, it was made really well) as someone who read the books, but the cast was amazing and I loved the FX. Jeremy Irons was kind of the greatest casting ever, and I am really curious to see the new cast. You have been such an inspiration to me growing up, and Eragon’s will always be my favourite iteration of magic. Again, this is amazing news, congratulations! Please keep us updated. Funny timing. Rereading the books now at the end of book 2. I remember reading them about 12 years ago and my teachers taking the book from me lol. These got me into fantasy novels
Even tho i often hear people are dissapointed on the movie for its writing being rushed and not enough going on to represent the book making it a empty feeling movie i still loved it as it has some great actors and acting. Mostly loved Durza cuz i adore the actor and because the role fit perfectly.

This actually made me cry. I’ve been waiting my entire life for this. As a kid the mo it’s made me pick up the books and as an adult I’ve read them many times over. I’ve been begging for a production of the books with this kind of budget and CGI. I loved To Sleep in a Sea of Stars. I’m so happy right now my heart is literally pounding
So excited by this news! The Inheritance books are my favorite books to read, I've read them dozens of times. I cannot wait to see this on the screen. It's definitely easing my worries that you're going to have so much involvement in the show, which means we will get a faithful adaptation.
I am a huge fan of your work. Your version of dragon rider law is by far the best ive ever read to date. ive been a fan since book 1 and im looking forward to what's to come.
Eragon was my introduction to the fantasy genre and novel, turning me into an excited reader. I already was very excited when hearing about the first movie which wasn't as close to the books as I had hoped. As such I am extremely exited to see a more true to the books series. Expecially looking forward to seeing the different cultures and species expressed in the detail they deserve.
I wasn't sure if he was a producer, and I'm so glad he is. I suspect Disney picked up the rights to compete with other fantasy shows, but I hope they give the creative team some breathing room to make something unique and amazing. I would hate for Eragon to turn out lackluster because Disney wanted something watered-down and marketable.
Currently revisiting the series for the first time in years via audiobooks, and I'm falling in love with Alagaësia all over again. Glad to find out about the series, I'm hoping it will be my new favorite TV show of all time.
It'd be an honour to be part of the writing team! I've worked with Malte on the Inheritance project, to work on this officially would be a dream come true :)
You have no idea how excited I am for this series. I am in love with the books and to see the lore brought to screen, and that it will be as accurate to the books as possible, is the best possible news to hear. So stoked for it!!

I'm literally crying. I'm so excited to delve into the world of Alagaesia again!
AAAHHHH so hype! Congratulations Christopher!!
The Inheritance Cycle is one of my favourite world building book series. It's up there with The Discworld for me.
Wow, that's great!
Do we know if it will be animated or live?
Either way I'm excited
The books were a huge part of my childhood. You helped a kid out in the Midwest feel at home when he didn’t feel so in his own home.
I LOVE❤ your books! Finally on the last book of the Eragon series!
just started the first book and love it!
great news and congratulations Christopher!
Been waiting for this for 15 years
Currently revisiting the series for the first time in years via audiobooks, and I'm falling in love with Alagaësia all over again. Glad to find out about the series, I'm hoping it will be my new favorite TV show of all time.
It'd be an honour to be part of the writing team! I've worked with Malte on the Inheritance project, to work on this officially would be a dream come true :)
I cant express how much I love this book. I am Inspired by your work!
The Dragons smile down upon this moment.
Wild. I remember binge reading all 4 books during my winter break as a freshman in high-school.

This is great news!!!! The movie did your books so dirty. The inheritance cycle is one of my favorite stories.
You have no idea how excited I am for this series. I am in love with the books and to see the lore brought to screen, and that it will be as accurate to the books as possible, is the best possible news to hear. So stoked for it!!
