I find the comments in these types of videos interesting. I'm guessing that the vast majority of the commenters have never flown in IMC, shot an instrument approach or in some cases ever flown an airplane. With more than 5,000 hours in a variety of aircraft I can tell you that the pilot has excellent skills and excellent cockpit resource management. His calls, as a single pilot, are as good, if not better than a lot ATPs I've flown with. He should be commended for his professionalism. Don't assume that everything you see in the camera is correct, without a full view of what the pilot sees, you are only seeing what the camera in its limited view can show you under ideal lighting conditions. Great work.
Many of pilots are now speaking out about the bashers and the hackers. I personally have no time or interest for these folks who think they are the authority and need to make themselves feel better by hacking at others. These folks need to "put up or shut up". In your "About" area you say you are 17 and instrument rated. If this is a fact then based on the videos you have posted and the professionalism exhibited, you are far - FAR beyond the capabilities of many pilots who are one, if not several times your age. Keep it up and keep learning! We enjoy watching your videos and often savor the feeling of the minimal condition approaches while enjoying the safety of our cozy arm chairs.
Everything from start to the very end was an example top-class performance, just as it was when you shot the icy ILS approach into Akron. I say this because, personally it's pilots like you who blend the crucial knowledge with a thin judgement based on your abilities and turn the virtuality of a state-of-the-art technology into a physical reality. And as much as people have a point in saying that there's a huge difference between a 5000-hour pilot and a couple-hundred one, I don't think there is such between two people who know what they are doing and what their birds are capable of. Just listen to what they have to say, and do what you're comfortable with doing. I, for one, enjoy it immensely. Thanks man. Hope you have many more vids to come in which you prove more critics wrong.
Nice job, like your videos. You are very thorough even to the point of preparing passengers for missed approach or flying to very minimums. Keep them coming, fly safe.
Another great video......Thanks. Don't understand why anyone would have anything negative to say at all. You are obviously a good instrument pilot. The approaches were legal in both your last videos. You were relaxed but very aware and procedures were spot on. I feel I am a good instrument pilot but know my limitations so I have yet to shoot an approach solo in hard IFR to minimums especially with other weather concerns present such as snow, ice etc. Thanks again for the GREAT video.
Having flown numerous CAT3 approaches in the A320 in Europe, I'm stunned at the capability of GA aircraft these days. The two most disconcerting things INMO was praying that the red Autopilot light would remain extinguished & navigating to the apron when you can only see one green light on the taxiway & relying on ground radar to get one safely to the stand. Great job!
The same people that are bashing you are the same people that say glass cockpits are for wimps. Flying today is all about blending pilot skills with technology. Love these videos keep them coming
Excellent planning and preparation for missed approach. Silky smooth flying weather even if visibility was very poor. Excellent use of complex nav and com equipment.
Excellent flight. I see no reason for people to complain, though of course they will. This is exactly the type of flight that a properly equipped FIKI and IFR aircraft is made for. Some people are scared of their own shadow and prefer their only 'IFR' to be under a hood on a clear spring day.
Hey kid. Yer a good pilot. Period. Admire your situational awareness and the obvious mastery you have of your aircraft. If I had the technology Id be doing the same thing, short of falling into the "get there-itis" syndrome. Enjoying the vids.
Good precision approach. Very smooth and controlled. Still above IFR minimums. No problems. I really like the glass panel and its capabilities to keep a pilot's situational awareness focused and know where the plane is on the approach. I am an old analog instrument pilot. I have to fight the maps, charts, approach plates to get the briefing for situational knowledge.
Good work...Haven’t seen all your videos yet as I just found your channel. Would be interested to see the changeover steps with your avionics setup from Loc to FMS during a missed APP.
Great landing to minimums. I have only done ILS to minimums in a simulator so far, but at least I will be prepared for it when I do find the day I have clouds all the way down.
People who are calling this dangerous are being silly. You were well within your authority do this and the conditions were safe. The GoPro does make things look a lot worse than they were
congrats and another nice film. continue to fly safe and aware, and forget the second guessers chiming in with their nonsense. follow the rules, apply your skills, and leave yourself an out. keep up the good work.
Cirrus Driver I'm looking forward to starting my IFR Flight Training to finish up and I've been Flying along side you in a lot of Approaches To minumins and I'm looking forward to seeing how to learn my Skills
Amazing job...I fly a Cherokee and my personal minimums are 500’ AGL ceiling. Were you using an AP? I’m having dual G5’s and Garmin GFC 500 AP installed in September...Have flown to many times in IMC single pilot and have decided that I need an AP. Very impressive.
The synthetic vision makes the workload that much better. I'm doing some of my IFR training in a G1000 airplane with it and it almost feels like cheating.
Sounded like your static eliminators were missing, or were not "grounded" to the airframe. The Cirris is composite, right? If so, there should be a cable that runs from the static eliminators to a metal portion of the plane, i.e. the engine. The clouds (moisture) causes static, unless the eliminators are correctly installed. Just a thought. N-6395T
THAT, is a typical everyday Standard IFR approach in the winter... Flying into the Freight Hubs five nights a week they May even Call it 200' &1/2 for two weeks straight when it's fogged in all day every day. They can't be having their home town Freight Company folding up on them during that time, what with 80 big Jets coming in there Nightly...!! sO, yeah that was a Good job... At least it wasn't 600RVR..... lol. 👨✈️
Great flying. Being an IFR student in a Cirrus I appreciated this very much. Great job to the pilot. Only question or thought is maybe moving the Alt Select to the missed approach altitude Once the GS became alive? Super impressed nice work
Excellent job with minimal drama. Thanks for posting. Question about flying the approach at 110 kts. I recently transitioned into SR22 and the CSIP has me flying 90 kts. with 50% flaps from FAF down.
Gregory Beckner I've always been taught to fly it at 100kias, 110kias was a little fast but I'd rather be fast than slow, also the wind was pretty gusty during the approach. I think the 90 vs 100 depends on what generation cirrus it is. I do flaps 50% when glide slope/glide path is alive, seems to make the approach more stable.
I watched a bunch of these today. What a great plane to be flying. My comment is that I miss the engine noise. If there was a way to mix that in at a low level we could hear your throttle control. It was there for a few of them, (and yes, pretty loud) then it was gone. Anyway - great videos. Looks like big fun. Are you flying for fun or as a business?
I notice that every time you turn the AP off, you also lose FD guidance. Is there a way to maintain FD guidance in this airplane while disconnecting the AP?
If you are proficient, there’s nothing wrong with performing these approaches and landings. I have landed at minimums more than enough times, it’s about awareness, discipline and practice. I have met pilots that can’t even keep wings level and fly a consistent heading in the soup.
Very nicely done. One question though, do you like flying with the map in static mode. I personally always prefer it in track mode so what I see out the front, matches the map. Particularly like that at unfamiliar bigger airports.
It's a pity you don't have the rest of the background noise in your plane it may be me watching and listening to other pilots it's the deadly silence between broadcasts but hey you are a good pilot how many years have you been flying ? Or hours in the cirus cheers
So, why is the synthetic vision about 1-2 seconds ahead of the plane? It that designed like that or is it just the delay of the satellite positioning capabilities?
Hi, great video and impressive flying skills. I have a Cirrus and am just wondering how do you get that shot of the instruments and the view outside the cockpit. Where do you specifically mount your GoPro to get that view? It is excellent.
Brian Thibault route: HENER FIM V386 PMD DAG PGS V208 TBC V210 FULLY. I did not have an alternate filed since it was forecast to be VFR and MVFR all day. I did know that Cortez and Durango were nearby if I needed them.

Excellent job as PIC, calm, cool and collected! You set the bar high!
Frekin bravo dude! Cool, calm, and collected. And greased the friggin landing. Always kept the missed approach in mind. Well executed.
Wow. Having that synthetic vision, appears to make flying in those types of conditions much safer.
ya amazing tech these days to help pilots . i'm sure its reassuring
You gotta USE your IFR if you want to be good at it. Nice job.

Bravo! Having shot approaches to minimums and often failed to see the runway this was fascinating. Thanks.
Nice job, like your videos. You are very thorough even to the point of preparing passengers for missed approach or flying to very minimums. Keep them coming, fly safe.
Great approach to minimums and the landing, especially considering single pilot operation.
That is so awesome! I've done one approach to minimums, and it changed my life (for the better, lol).
Another great video......Thanks. Don't understand why anyone would have anything negative to say at all. You are obviously a good instrument pilot. The approaches were legal in both your last videos. Outstanding (and legal) I was really hooked in and straining to see the lights!
You are a robot! Thx for posting this! I just started my IFR training and now I'm inspired.

I certainly hope you are getting you're CFI so you can pass on your experience and knowledge. Excellent flying sir!!
Did my flight training just north in Durango. Flew to "farmpit" all the time. Nice job.
Nicely done! Nothing like having confidence in yourself and your equipment. Thumbs up!
Excellent planning and preparation for missed approach. Silky smooth flying weather even if visibility was very poor. Excellent use of complex nav and com equipment.

Nicely done. But gotta good laugh @ 9:13 - "You did great".... "Ya" - (lol). I'd say blue skies but you don't need them.
Another great video. THANKS again for taking us along !
Absolute quality sir. Loving these vids.
Wow was right. Holly hell nice job man. I am just a student pilot with no IMC training. Exciting stuff. Thanks so much for sharing.
Hey kid. Yer a good pilot. Period. Admire your situational awareness and the obvious mastery you have of your aircraft. If I had the technology Id be doing the same thing, short of falling into the "get there-itis" syndrome. Enjoying the vids.
Perfect! Beautiful job! You just gained a subscriber. Thank you for posting!
Great flight once again many thanks for sharing and impeccable piloting skills cheers

I've got an SR22TN but I'd like FIKI for this kind of stuff. Well briefed and locked and loaded for the missed/go-around. Nice job.
Great job, very well organized and professional...similar to your KCAK landing at minimums, very impressive aircraft and pilot.
I loved the vid.. I didn't see anything wrong. Besides you are PIC and its clear to me you were in command of your plane... thumbs up
Great job. Good video. Cirrus is awesome aircraft
Loved you cool calm collected persona ,I for one enjoyed your video Thanks )
The best conditions for currency and proficiency. Well done sir!
Good work...Haven’t seen all your videos yet as I just found your channel. Would be interested to see the changeover steps with your avionics setup from Loc to FMS during a missed APP.

On the edge of my seat! Nice job!

thanks.. nice to see some "edge of the seat" video
Beautifully done.
im sure the synthetic vis helps. I would probably just go PPD to the airport and then pull the chute over the runway lol
Great job and an awesome video!
Well done that man great flight cheers
at the end of the vid, my blood pressure is much higher, great job capitan !
congrats and another nice film. continue to fly safe and aware, and forget the second guessers chiming in with their nonsense. follow the rules, apply your skills, and leave yourself an out. keep up the good work.
Pretty chill passenger
Your passenger is awesome and paid you a huge compliment. Take her to dinner…. She trusted you with her life…
Wow....done that on my x-plane 10...but it would be real nerve racking in real life. Good job!
Great job. Now I want a Cirrus.
Good work ! , Its generally the people that wish they were doing what you are actually doing that come out with the "You did it wrong comments" Cheers
Cool vid. I wanna fly like that some day!
Nicely done
Great job flying
Cirrus Driver I'm looking forward to starting my IFR Flight Training to finish up and I've been Flying along side you in a lot of Approaches To minumins and I'm looking forward to seeing how to learn my Skills
Nicely done!!
Wow that was an awesome example down to mins
Ocj
Excellent job!
That's what I call impressing your girlfriend! great job excellent comms skills. Always enjoy your videos!
Great Video, you really kept a cool head.
You did great!! Wow!👏👏
Very nice landing.

well done. always some pucker factor when approaching to minimums but i saw nothing out of standard. haters always gonna hate. props

Holy smokes...that's having faith your instruments!!..... I would have to change my underwear it were me!

Cirrus Driver Better 110 if icing suspect, especially rear horizontal ice. Awesome stuff!
Good point on the ice. I don't voluntarily go near ice in my non FIKI plane so did not consider. Maybe if I had his Garmin/FIKI bird....😉
Nice job!
Good job on your instruments.
How do I get into your line of work to afford a great aircraft such as a cirrus?
Awsome job man! Great videos! Keep them coming! Ever fly into kdlz?
eli gray haven't thanks, been there yet. Not too long of a flight from CGF.
Cirrus Driver yeah not far at all. Just stumbled across your videos. I fly out of kdlz, hit me up if your in the area sometime.
Outstanding!!
Nice one - why are pitot heaters not automatic in this climate? What difference would it make either way?
Great job
Well done!
Awesome great job...
If you was a CFII I'll come to where you are to be my IFR instructor

Don't you have evs thermal imaging camera on this plane? Sr22
Great video. How many hours do you have in the cirrus now?
Awesome!
At least the sky was blue on the Garmin.
like butter.
So, why is the synthetic vision about 1-2 seconds ahead of the plane? It that designed like that or is it just the delay of the satellite positioning capabilities?
cblair0608 I'm not so sure. Also if you are perfectly lined up on the center line, it shows you are a few feet off of it.
Hi, great video and impressive flying skills. I have a Cirrus and am just wondering how do you get that shot of the instruments and the view outside the cockpit. Where do you specifically mount your GoPro to get that view? It is excellent.
