UPDATE! I'M NOW OFFERING CONSULTS AND FULL STYLE ANALYSIS REPORTS! These are not "Kibbe" style analyses, rather a completely personalized evaluation of your body yin/yang balance and essence. So I still use familiar terms such as Dramatic, Natural, Classic, Romantic, Gamine and Ingenue.....but my evaluations are 100% custom; they are not designed to assign you an archetype, rather offer you a clear outline of your unique characteristics and total balance. Elyssa Do you factor in someone’s unique coloring? As a ginger I would not be benefitted by any greyscale, powdery pastel, or (cool) jewel tone recommendations.
I feel like I definitely have some ingenue. According to Kibbe I'm a theatrical romantic but I've always pulled off soft classic and soft gamine lines really well and can get overwhelmed by the amount of detail suggested for romantics.
Sometimes I feel like I have a hard time typing myself because all the celebrity examples are so beautiful! I think I can’t possibly be the same type as any of them. I’d love to see you include typing of regular people. Looking forward to the gamine vs ingenue video 🙃 especially to know the difference between soft gamine and ingenue.
i think this is a major problem with so many women. why are you comparing your beauty to anothers beauty? you are supposed to be comparing the lines of your body. how angled your nose or jaw is. are your shoulders chiseled like theirs or are they sloped like that other one? some ones beauty or prettiness level has little to nothing to do with figuring out your type. everyone thinks they are ugly. those celebrities look in the mirror and think they are ugly, i promise. you have to start seeing the lines and shapes and not the aesthetic.
I'm an extreme ingenue and I'm 46. I have shifted my style to more classic lines recently; less frilly/babydoll, more gamine, mixed patterns etc. I have also embraced my doll-like features and am emphasizing them with makeup, so no more trying to slant my eyes but make them even rounder...
i am almost 27 but people still mistaking me as 20 or 21 and when I was 25 people mistook me as 17, don't get me wrong I am flattered sometimes but it is also really frustating because i need a lot of respect in my line of work but i also still want to look put together and fashionable so i'm finding a way to dress accordingly. thank you for this video, it is really helpful. also i think i am also a romantic body type based on kibbie body types
I have this same problem, which makes me think I have an ingenue essence. There are some clothes that I try to wear for work, but it makes me look like I'm trying to look like an adult. I am an adult but some people think I'm still in high school or about to go to college.😬
@@feiwaan There's a 21 year old who seemed interested in me & I had to tell him that I'm actually 28.. he thought I was 23/24?? 🥲 Then my 32 year old boss asked me if I was over 18??😔
@@clairedelune-ri4ti 😆 oh my, I feel you. Aww heartbreak for him lol I feel sorry for him, how could he have known? and your boss, I hope he didn’t give you a lesser position at work due to his assumption. This explains a lot for me too. I just realised this could be the reason I was asked out by boys from the junior classes. I thought they were being disrespectful, and until now I just understood it could be just what they thought. Lol I’m very very new to these archetypes so I have a lot to discover.
@@clairedelune-ri4ti I think it’s both a lovely and annoying thing, cos for me, I don’t get taken serious when I talk and it’s upsetting, because they think I’m not serious or they think I’m just a “little girl” until I get dark, and moody, then I am suddenly taken serious. So I have two sides, one sweet, playful and girlish side, but I have learnt to switch to the opposite when needed. My archetype result showed Maiden, mother and mystic, I don’t know which one to focus on or how to incorporate it all and embody. Any idea how? I score highest on maiden, so does that make it the dominant one?
I have traits of ingenue because I'm 5'1 and people think I'm still a teenager when I'm in my early twenties. The only thing is is my body archetype is more romantic because I'm curvy and fleshy even at a low weight (but not underweight). Love McJimsey!
This is true, I had a cousin of mine who was around 30-35 and she is extremely dainty and feminine (4'11, I believe) at first I thought she was a soft gamine but looking at this, it fits her much better. She has a very tiny, narrow, upturned nose, wide-set eyes, she's also very slender yet soft, very dainty, short, girly looking, etc.
Thanks for sharing this great video. I've been always called "adorable" "youthful" and "charming" these adjectives I tended to see them as children qualities. Yet I've learned is a blessing. This "vibe" helps me connect with people and "allows" me to have some fun with details!
I would love a comparison video between McJimsey’s Ingenue vs Gamine! I understand it takes a lot of time and some training the eye to really be sure what your best style lines are. These videos are so helpful!
I have never heard of ingenues before, but I loved it! On the kybbe system I'm a theatrical romantic, but I can truly see myself as an ingenue too. I'm about to turn 24 but most of the time people give me 15 to 19 years old. Also you explained everything pretty well. I'm subscribing! ;)
I actually really like McJimsey's system. Perhaps the most out of all of them. I like how she uses the essence within the types and leaves some ambiguity. And how she mentions how you can be a combination of the two. Along with that, she isn't focussing as much on the bone structure, but also someone's demeanour and how they carry themselves. It's not as extreme as some of the others (like "NEVER wear *insert thing*"). She knows that not everyone looks the same and recognises that someone's essence affects their overall appearance. Personally, I seem myself as a romantic (with some ingenue) within the McJimsey system and a theatrical romantic within the Kibbe system, but McJimsey suits me better. Great video by the way! The Ingenue type really doesn't get enough attention :)
This is actually so helpful. I'm very much on the dainty side... 5"1.5 big eyes, pull off the girly very well but as I approach 30 it's been difficult to really embrace loooooking and feeling like a full grown woman. I'm excited to explore this more and use the pointers! Thanks!
I'm an ingenue at heart, in a romantic body. I feel like my face does not match my body, and I seem sexualized in lines that are elegant on others. :c I find it very confusing. I also unintentionally have a young voice, and a childlike personality. I sometimes notice that it triggers people. I've been accused of being immature for being fond of animal crossing, frills, soft textures and having a young voice. I've been asked if it's an act. It doesn't feel good to be shamed for something I can't help. I like what I like, and I am what I am. I am attracted to girlish styles, but my mother tells me I'm too curvy to wear normal shorts, etc. I like cute things, but society tells me it's vulgar when I wear it. Does anyone know of other ingenue romantics? I don't think Marilyn Monroe is the best sample, as she was professionally glamourized to lean into her romantic type, and I think it affected the catalogue we have of her authentic self-expression.
Hi Little Frog! I’ve been typed as a Romantic with strong Ingenue essence, and I’m 48 years old. I have the same issue that you do as far as my face and body (I have a 32G bra size, yikes!), and I love geek chic retro style and I’m drawn to a lot of odd, cartoony, and fun animal themed items etc which can come across as inappropriate for someone of my age. Because I’m older it’s probably easier for me to say don’t listen to what other people think/say, just be you and follow your heart and instincts. Truth be told, as a younger person I questioned my style constantly and tried to fit into a box and define myself. Such a waste of time. What has worked for me, other than just “going for it” if something speaks to me, is focusing my Ingenue into accessories. The majority of my outfit will have some Classic or Romantic lines (nothing too sexy, that just looks weird on me despite my curves) but my makeup and accessories will be more fun and girly. Hope that helps. You aren’t alone 😄
I'm thinking that Bridget Bardot and Anne Margaret probably are. Both were able to pull off both the "cuter" looks and the sexy looks and both maintained a youthful appearance as they aged. It is hard to think of more recent celeb examples though, maybe because plastic surgery at increasingly early ages skews how women age.
I have the same problem. I'm 22, 4'8", and I developed kind of early, so I struggled a lot with appearing to be both very young, and very womanly. When I dress to the womanly aspect I feel I can look like I'm wearing a costume/trying too hard, and when I dress to the youthfulness I can look like I'm playing into the "sexy baby" trope. Very frustrating.
Subculture fashion has been my passion since the beginning of adolescence. I always knew I had the ingenue essence, so when I played with goth, punk or grunge fashion, I would always mix it up with the kawaii, lolita or y2k elements that fit me so well. I'm 21 now but I don't think I'll quit dressing this way anytime soon.
The staccato way is such an aha for me! I am primary classic and now realizing secondary ingenue… was always wondering why I could do some gamine sounding stuff (sets, color blocking). Love that you featured Sarah hyland I forgot how often I used to get “you look like her”. Thank you for this video, it’s the first I’ve seen on ingenue all on its own
GK GK SAME!! I've been struggling to squeeze myself into gamine, only to learn I had to pick a gamine- which didn't work at all... But pure gamine doesn't fit, as nothing else quite fits. I've just been saying I'm like a Gamine-classic hybrid. Apparently that's ingenue. Also, I regularly get mistaken for prepubecent, so.... Ingenue, I guess.
Kellie oh Mike Kunis.....that woman definitely has some Ingenue qualities but DK typed her as TR. And I totally understand why, but that’s the folly of his system. Women with delicate bone structures and extreme petiteness are either placed in R or G types. That’s why I think Ingenue is still relevant and can be useful for the modern woman to learn about and explore.
Spiritual Explorer I used to think that because I was “cute” that I should be a gamine type, probably soft gamine. And I understand you It DEFINITELY didn’t work. Now I wear romantic with touches of soft classic.
Finally updated information on Ingénue!!🌼✨ I have all the characteristics of this type and really felt left out in the kibbe system because, although I am a soft natural in the system I don't fit in the sensual lady archetype in any way, the lines recommended are to womanly for me and I look really young for my age, which causes a conflict with the soft natural overall impression. I'm definitely no type of gamine, romantic or theatrical romantic. I've tested Ingénue recommendations in myself and it fits almost perfectly. I definitely see lots of Ingénue lines in modern fashion and it just looks right on someone who has its characteristics. No elongated lines for me anymore! Please, keep doing those videos, your opinions about these systems are really fresh and useful. Good work! 💪🏻😊
me too, TR is too theatrical to me, romantic is not edgy enough for me, SG is too tomboyish (I am very curvy), SN would work, because i am very sporty muscular also, but also does not really work bc of being in a way very youthful
This is the first I’m hearing about McJimsey’s system…I think this one might be a fit for me…with my small stature, DDD bustline, relatively defined waist, sharp shoulders and small derrière, I’m somewhere between the Ingenue and one of the Gamines. The key for me is the ‘youthfulness’ essence spark, At 70, I’m still getting carded even (for being over 55🤣)…my last time to get seriously checked for alcohol service was at 31! My voice is also totally Ingenue…sometimes phone callers assume that I’m still in school - they want to talk to my mom. Debbie Reynolds, Carrie Fischer and Audrey Hepburn have all been styling models for me. Thanks for introducing her system to us…I knew Kibbe had to be standing on someone’s shoulders🙄😻
My mom definitely has some of the characteristics..she still get's carded in her 50s lol but her clothing style is very telling of her age lol she won't let me help her which is frustrating as a amateur stylist
I am am ingenue and I follow soft and cottagecore styles, it's really interesting to see that the styles I like the most are the ones that fit my "essence" the most too!
Sitting here watching while I wear a pink and white top with a cherry design! I am a 35 year old mother of a 15 year old daughter. We often get mistaken for sisters or friends. I wear scrunchies and hair clips for toddlers but they just look normal on me. I feel best when I look a *bit* like a doll or fairy. I can only get away with hints though, rather than an entire ingenue outfit . I am 5 ft 6 and FG in kibbe but def have some ingenue essence.
Little Flor that’s the sure sign right there that you can easily pull off very yin clothing and accessories! If they look right at home on you and you feel like you shine when you look doll or fairly-like then you definitely have ingenue! Yeah your height is probably a factor in why you just need hints of ingenue in your wardrobe rather than full out!
I purchased an analysis by Rachel at Truth is Beauty and she typed me as being 50% classic, 25% ethereal, and 25% ingenue. I'm still not sure how to make this work with a style that I like (especially once I shave my head again) but it was interesting to hear your take on this archetype. Looking forward to the next one!
I have very petite and childlike facial features but I'm not short, I'm 1,63m which is average I'd say! I have big hips but small chest and very slender arms and tiny hands...some kids even have bigger hands than mine. I try to mix a fairy look with a more classic style. Whites and pinks definitely looks good on me, black comes off as too strong, I always wear very tiny jewels. I might have an ingenue face and a romantic body... Anyway thank you so much for this video, it was also super fun reading other women's perspectives ✨💞🌸
I was typed as soft natural in kibbe type, but I have a lot of ingenue. My face looks like a little girl's and I am nearly 30. I also am really soft and fleshy and borderline romantic. I look best in things with girlish details (not over the top, but softness and ruffles) and I am broad boned but petite. It's interesting but I look best in things that have a tinge of cuteness.
Same! Soft natural but really look younger than my age. look good in cute and frilly, would love my style more edgy but with SN it can be overdone quite fast
I am 47, I fall into the Romantic/Ingenue. I love wearing skirts and dresses especially polka dots or florals, cottagecore type dresses are beautiful as well, I am also plus size and curvy and I love embracing this essence.
THANK YOU FOR THIS! Gamine in Kibbe system doesn't resonate with me. Feels like I'm in a box! Although not really a fan of pastel, but the fabric and style, def I'M Ingenue with Romantic/Dramatic/Classic undercurrent! And this has been very helpful. THANK YOU!
I always thought i was a soft gamine, but alot of the clothing recommendations for this type looks overpowering on me. It looks off. Ingenue clothing recommendations makes much more sense for my body.
Hello Elyssa, I’m so glad I found your channel. I am very petite (4’11”), so I often find myself feeling a bit self conscious because I am very youthful looking (everyone tries to tell me this is a good thing, but the only way people usually describe me is “pretty” rather than beautiful). I’m still having a hard time distinguishing if I lean more toward gamine or ingenue because I do have rather large eyes and slight waist definition, but I am a bit muscular. Regardless, I find myself taking from both gamine and ingenue fashions. As much as I try to find things that compliment my body structure, I always still feel a bit like I’m playing dress up. I’m trying to embrace this all. It’s still a little hard when I have younger sisters that look more beautiful or seductive than I do. Anyways, I am just so thankful that someone is helping smaller frames women feel better about themselves. So thank you!
I kept getting romantic but it felt too "sexy" or mature for my tastes and that was the extent of most lists I saw. I more sided with gamine other than the fact I'm more curved with rounder features or maybe the dramatic romantic (though still I didn't have the sharp lines). This is the first time I'm hearing about ingenue and its EXACTLY, what I am. Softer, rounder, but still petite and youthful and smaller stature. Love it!
This was really interesting. I definitely wouldn’t consider myself ingenue, as I’m not yin enough, but people do generally think I’m much younger than I am. I have a friend that’s very ingenue though, and it frustrates her!
Keapix yeah I think ingenues can face challenges like not being taken seriously. But it does come with blessing like youthfulness! Also I think the pure ingenue has a particular type of youthfulness if that make sense. Like people perceive me as younger than what I am all the time but I’m definitely not an ingenue. This is where the whole ingenue essence perspective comes to the table. But no doubt, there are pure ingenue’s out there and they are adult women who should be recognized for their unique yin traits imo 💕
I feel like ingenue is my greatest challenge. In Kibbe I am a theatrical romantic, 100%, but my face is so ingenue that I find I’m still struggling to strike a balance between looking like I’m not playing dress up in my mothers clothes, but also dressing appropriately for different events. I can’t pull off gamine though, that always looks like I’m wearing kids clothes more so than when I actually wear kids clothes!
I am a soft Gamine Ingenue. I'm so thrilled to tweak my look from what I had already learned in another system, and I love to see the examples of looks I can do. I am 45 and still very youthful. Nobody suspects that I'm in my 40's. They usually think early to mid 30's. I even got late 20's a couple of years ago. I can sound much younger, as well, and I have a playful, bubbly, animated energy and disposition. And I was always "cute" or "adorable" until I gained enough weight to put a damper on that. This has been a ton of fun and I'm so thankful for your channel!!! Thank you!!💖🌟🎉🎊
yes finally! i'm trying to refine my style around this archetype with a splash of romantic and a bit of edge. its been a challenge to say the least. thank you for this!
Me too! I'm a TR and I love the cute femininity of ingenue but I can't resist stuff like studs and leather jackets. This video definitely helps define my style type.
simply put..you are GIFTED. Your explanations and descriptions are profoundly insightful, and your knack for "reading the social scripts" behind it all is unparalleled...
Thank you soooo much for this!! Acording to kibbe Im SN, which can be tricky at times, or at last for me hehhe. However, Ive always been called "cute" or "adorable" in my life, Ive been told I look with on ribbons, flower patterns and piggy tails, I used to felt mad about it, since I wanted to portary a more "grown woman" vibe. However, this past few months, Ive been embarcing more cutsey stuff, more relaxed lines, and more pastel tones and i LOVE THEM!! turns out being cute does not mean giving up womanhood :))
I was anxious trying to figure out my body type, I was only sure about my young and naive essence. Thank you for this video! It makes perfect sense to be able to build my wardrobe ❤
it’s so insane that this was the answer I got, I’ve been told so many times in my life that I resemble Amanda Seyfried (when I was blonde) & Christina Ricci
Interesting. I now understand why probably some of the romantic tips just don't work for me. I am supposed to be a romantic, but from my personality, I see myself more in those ingenue women. I am just too playful to be serious and elegant. I have heavy curves so its really hard to dress myself and not look awkward.
Ugh, the kibbe system gave me classic but honestly I always feel like classic style looks... Mature on me for some reason, as if I'm playing dress up. I always unconsciously go for ingenue lines, feminine and playful and not too strict, gun but simple. I weightlift so I have some curves but still look smallish and being 32 ppl always say they thoughts I was younger. Honestly, this channel helped me immensely in understanding my style! 💞
Anna K yeah I think it has to be the right kind of classic lines and there’s still has to be something that speaks to your youthfulness or you’ll feel to stiff. And I think we’re naturally gravitated towards what usually works.....it’s more the idea that we can refine and elevate our personal style with a little bit of know-how 🤗
I'm not even an ingenue (sadly), but I think the ingenue type is so pretty and it's lovely to see a more mature ingenue type, because they have this wonderful quality apart from age. I think Betty White is a great example of being adorable no matter her age.
I’m somewhere between gamine and ingenue. My height is 142 cm, weight is 38 kg, shoe size 32EU. I have soft face features, but I’m asian, so “big doll-like eyes” is definitely not me. I have little curves which puts me a bit more towards ingenue, but my shoulders are still broader than my hips, which in my opinion sends me into gamine field. Being extremely petite and very youthful looking adult woman is a challenge. I just try everything and see what looks best on me and what I personally like. I tend to choose classic style with a touch of romantic sometimes. It really depends on my mood and inner feeling and also on my goal. Only thing I have been avoiding since childhood is too childish clothing (childish cut or prints or anything). My reason is simple: I want to be perceived as adult woman and do not want to be confused with a little girl. It feels good to look younger than my actual age, but it’s a disaster when people think I am 12 year old. I am 34 and I don’t want to be treated as a child. That’s something I try to avoid. I can wear those puffy sleeves and playful mini skirts, but I do it in my own way. Puffy sleeved top I’d combine with wide leg trousers or midi skirt, with something more classic and adult-looking. Mini skirt in my wardrobe goes with turtleneck sweaters, classic coat and knee-high boots. Sometimes I can pair puffy short sleeved top with A-silhouette mini skirt, but there has to be something that says I’m not kid, let’s say, materials and fabrics (could be something like suede or leather or tweed), colors (I may choose more mature color palette), and accessories (structured, with strong clean lines, high quality shoes and handbags; silk scarves; maybe delicate gold jewellery or on the contrary very bold statement bijouterie)
Im an extreme ingenue; 5’2, 90lbs, very small and delicate bone structure, very big round eyes and everyone has always described me as the very “girly girl”
I’m very small but I can’t dress with pastels and flowers cute. Can’t do it I love my solids dark style. I feel more comfortable in classic clothes then in pink. I like looking chic not cute.
I'm an ingenue, but I'm 47 and overweight. My daughter's friends have all commented on how youthful I am, to the point that these college girls like hanging out with me (I'm not the "cool mom", I am definitely watching over them, but I'm having fun too). One of the frustrations of being an older woman with this essence is that I would look very silly in tiered, frilly skirts and puff sleeves - I'd be Bette Davis in "What Happened to Baby Jane?" So I had been hoping that by leaning Romantic I would look my age but not out of harmony with my features and personality. Thank you for the confirmation and the fashion inspo ala Christina Ricci.
Nice video, good examples!!! I am ingenue while being 40. I am 5`3 with delicate and curvy hourglass shape. I have a small head and chin, a higher forehead, very big eyes, heart-round shaped mouth and nose and no wrickles (please refere my profile picture). By the way- everyone in my family looks sooo young (10- even 20 years younger- youthful essence also while being 65+). When I was 25, I was asked, if I would be in class 9 (15 year od students), with 27, a 17 year old girl thought, that i was her age and was very surprise, that i was 10 years older than her...list goes on I shop in the children`s department very often, which suit me well- patters, proportions etc. That is also a tip to idetify ingenues- if it looks good on you, you are a true ingenue.
This makes so much sense to me, thank you!! In the Kibbe scheme i would most probably be romantic (short, rounded, wider hips) but alway steered towards fashion recommended for gamine and classic. overly frilly and girly clothing makes me feel (prob. look too) a lot younger and it‘s just not my style. and it sucks to be considered 20 when i‘m actually 30, at least in the work environment. Now i know that i‘m for sure ingenue and i actually like everything you recommend for them :)
This is me! I'm an "earthy" ingenue. It's similar to being a nature or elemental nymph without the ethereal touch (because that would obviously be an ethereal essence, and I'm way too carnal to be ethereal). There's a Pinterest board called "nature girl essence," and it pretty much suits me because the style reminds me of a barefoot Disney princess on a hike. Bohemian or folk pieces are fitting. My touches are more from the American southwest because that's where I'm from. I guess this is why the cat girl stuff is working out for me even though I'm no longer a "young adult," and just an adult. It's the ingenue... I know soft natural is a different style system, but it's kind of like that moreso than a soft gamine. I'm small and bony enough to be a flamboyant gamine (sharp/dramatic + petite + blend), but I don't have the quirky facial features for it. I'm like a skinny soft gamine (romantic/soft + petite + blend) or a tiny soft natural (romantic/soft + blunt/natural). The yin/yang essence system is easier for me though, and so I can easily see that I'm high in youthful yin as opposed to mature yin or any kind of yang. I embody the archetypal Persephone for this reason, and the Hestia touches aren't quite as blatant, but I'm sure I'll embody more of it as I age (a more mature crone archetype). This combo seems to look either "earthy or hedge witch" (blunt/yang + blend or sharp?) or outright dark Hecate (blunt/yang + dramatic/sharp) elements. I'm not sure. I just know I'm strongly an ingenue with natural elements.
That sounds like an amazing combo! Like rapunzel for example a princess running in the nature. That sounds perfectly from fairytale so I think you can def take inspirations from it!!
I think I finally found what I identify with the most! Nothing else was making complete sense. And throughout the garment and accessories recommendations, I found that my favorite pieces of clothing and jewelry were almost spot on! No wonder why they were intuitively favorites of mine!
I definitely have some inganue characteristics...l look very youthful. I have flesh and roundness--especially in my cheeks, arms, thys and butt. My over all look delicate and I have lower visual weight, however, I do have obvious curves. I'm fully grown @ only 4,11. I'm interested in developing a more Romantic style. Thank you Elyssa!
My Kibbe ID is Soft Dramatic, though my face/essence is a mixture of Natural, Classic, and Ingenue. I look younger than I am, sometimes I've been mistaken for being in my 20s in my 30s. I find working a blend of classic and ingenue style with accommodation to length/height works out very well on me. Having the Natural essence also leads me into a boho take on the Y2K aesthetic. The colors mentioned in this video are ones that work best on me too.
I didnt like Rachel’s recommendations for ingenue. I questioned being ingenue because I didnt like those baby doll clothes when I am obviously, obviously an ingenue. But ur recommendations are really great, they look like my favorite clothes in my wardrobe 👌🏼 Plus, you are VERY correct about young ingenue girls trying to emulate Classic or Romantic styles. Thats how I found out I was ingenue in the first place
Your video put me on exploring something knew. I do think I might be Ingenue. I'm 36 almost 37 years old and I do know that I appear really younger , baby face and people tell me often that I'm delicate. I had try to wear more mature style but it doesn't fit me and i looked like I was playing dress up. I tought for a while that I may be gamine (but I'm busty and Gamine is slender and not really busty). I may be Ingenue but I have some wildness, freespirited. Also maybe I'm not since I'm not that petite I'm 5'4 and I do look like I have some elongation. Well anyway i'm gonna check more into it and experiment clothing.(sorry for my bad english french is my main idiom).
It is very interesting. In the Kibby system, I'm lost between gamines and body test gave me TR... I definitely have some ingenue vibe, so I'm thrilled to see a video about the differences between gamines and ingenues.
@@elyssa_aesthetic I'm doing fantastic. Training for fitness competition, working my dream job, moved into our own house, life is good. Several people recently pointed out that I have a lot of ingenue essence which I didn't consider before. Came back to rewatch your video on the subject and see how I can incorporate that into my style as an adult. Great content as always, hope you're doing well!
Ingenue is the only essence that really applies to me but I have a hard time accepting it since they’re portrayed as very petite I am 5’2” but a us size 16/18 so I’m plus sized … I wish there was a more modern version of that book lol
I’m 39 years old and some people say I look like a pixie and others say I look like a Polly doll. I could never find my true body type. I do look good in theatrical romantic and soft Gamine… it can be frustrating to be child like when you are a grown woman.
Hey! I thought this video was so interesting, it provides a really good breakdown and I feel like I have a very well-rounded understanding of this archetype now. You also have an incredibly soothing voice. :) Thank you for the great video!
This explains why I dislike boho so much. I have a soft natural kibbe body type and the advice always circumvents back to crusty boho lol but I just want to dressy preppy, cute, casual, and chic
This is definitely me! 28 and I’m usually mistaken for a high school student. 😂 I’d love more on this! In the more modern system, I’m Theatrical Romantic. I’m rare in everything, (INFJ) so it makes sense I’d be a type so unique, it’s not even included anymore! ✨ Thanks for this info!
Same here... according to kibbe type, I'm mostly answer D and I'm a theatrical romantic. I'm 26 and people will still believe if I tell them I'm 18 or 19. Maybe it's an Asian thing ..Idk...sometimes it's annoying.
Ladies, I feel you. I was visiting a friend in Florida and she was having her sweet 16. I was around 25 years old. Her friends asked me what school I go to and I told them I graduated already. I then realized they were asking me what high school I was currently attending. 😂 We had a good laugh and they were very embarrassed. I’ve learned to get used to it!
Loooove your examples and pointing out the specifics in those examples. Personally I love combining ingenue with a bit of contrast. Maybe making it a bit more gamine? Dusty sundresses with a short black velvety 'leather' jacket and leather strappy bracelets or natural gemstone jewelery. Loooove
I use my own system/method to help women create a personalized beauty aesthetic. So being a blend of Dramatic and Ingenue is a gorgeous archetype in my system ✨
Some more celebrities with ingenue influence: Jennifer Lopez (she loooks soooo young, but also is SN or TR or CD or SD sometimes- very versatile, also has ethereal essence a bit); Marilyn Monroes (def also R); Britney Spears (also SN); Shakira (also SN)
Hi, unable to download the book please send the direct link to it. Thank you I really have been looking for it for long
Do you still doing consults?
@@i.e.presents638you can still using others tips
I feel like I definitely have some ingenue. According to Kibbe I'm a theatrical romantic but I've always pulled off soft classic and soft gamine lines really well and can get overwhelmed by the amount of detail suggested for romantics.
I recognise myself in your comment👍
same here
Same here. I'm 35 years old and I wear the same size since I was 15... And all the women in my moms family are like this!
I feel like this is me as well. Now Idk what I am.
Well hate to say this but have you considered you might actually be those types?
Sometimes I feel like I have a hard time typing myself because all the celebrity examples are so beautiful! I think I can’t possibly be the same type as any of them. I’d love to see you include typing of regular people.
Looking forward to the gamine vs ingenue video 🙃 especially to know the difference between soft gamine and ingenue.
But you're so pretty!!! I mean, if that's you in the profile photo
i think this is a major problem with so many women. why are you comparing your beauty to anothers beauty? you are supposed to be comparing the lines of your body. how angled your nose or jaw is. are your shoulders chiseled like theirs or are they sloped like that other one? some ones beauty or prettiness level has little to nothing to do with figuring out your type. everyone thinks they are ugly. those celebrities look in the mirror and think they are ugly, i promise. you have to start seeing the lines and shapes and not the aesthetic.
Nancy Abela love it!
i am almost 27 but people still mistaking me as 20 or 21 and when I was 25 people mistook me as 17, don't get me wrong I am flattered sometimes but it is also really frustating because i need a lot of respect in my line of work but i also still want to look put together and fashionable so i'm finding a way to dress accordingly.
thank you for this video, it is really helpful. also i think i am also a romantic body type based on kibbie body types
I have this same problem, which makes me think I have an ingenue essence. There are some clothes that I try to wear for work, but it makes me look like I'm trying to look like an adult. I am an adult but some people think I'm still in high school or about to go to college.😬
@@clairedelune-ri4ti this explains a lot for me too. I’m 24 and I am mistaken to be 18 or 20
@@feiwaan There's a 21 year old who seemed interested in me & I had to tell him that I'm actually 28.. he thought I was 23/24?? 🥲 Then my 32 year old boss asked me if I was over 18??😔
@@clairedelune-ri4ti 😆 oh my, I feel you. Aww heartbreak for him lol I feel sorry for him, how could he have known? and your boss, I hope he didn’t give you a lesser position at work due to his assumption.
This explains a lot for me too. I just realised this could be the reason I was asked out by boys from the junior classes. I thought they were being disrespectful, and until now I just understood it could be just what they thought. Lol I’m very very new to these archetypes so I have a lot to discover.
@@clairedelune-ri4ti
I think it’s both a lovely and annoying thing, cos for me, I don’t get taken serious when I talk and it’s upsetting, because they think I’m not serious or they think I’m just a “little girl” until I get dark, and moody, then I am suddenly taken serious.
Ingenue here, throughout my life I've been mistaken for 10 -15 yrs younger than my actual age. Not fun in my 30's,40's but absolute heaven in my70's.
I'm subscribing! ;)
My sister is an ingenue type! She's always been described as 'fairy-like'
Chelsea Knapp what a cool trait to have 🧚♀️ 💕
Could this be Ingenue ethereal?
@@lindsaybrower9550 yes I was just about to say so.
I'm only half way through and had to pop down here and say how much I'm enjoying this! I've already learned so much from just a few minutes xx
Audrey Coyne Awh, thanks Audrey! ✨
Elle we’re totally on the dame page here😉 Love McJimsey’s take on the yin/yang styling principle!
I'm not even ingenue, but I gotta be here when the queen uploads! 😜 Love your points of view! I always learn so much!
Filipa hahaha right on 🙈 and thank you!
Thanks for the tips! I'm in my upper 20's, same boat with my body, and still trying to figure things out with style. I'll try these out!
Marilyn Monroe is typed as Youthful-Romantic by John Kitchener. Please check his Youthful type video here on youtube. It helped me so much :)
Life changing. I don't look good in boxy clothes, which is currently the trend
YEEESSSS!!!! 🙌🏻 I love the idea of pastel goth on an Ingenue💖
The staccato way is such an aha for me! I am primary classic and now realizing secondary ingenue… was always wondering why I could do some gamine sounding stuff (sets, color blocking). Love that you featured Sarah hyland I forgot how often I used to get “you look like her”. Thank you for this video, it’s the first I’ve seen on ingenue all on its own
Ingenue really does perfectly explain the early-mid 2000s fashion era! Great videos 💛
I think the ingenue is so feminine and charming. This is the kind of person who you want to be around. They are refreshing.
I still am not sure about what is my kibbe body type but I’m so sure that I’m an ingenue
Same!
Erika Mead High five sis! 🖐
My mom definitely has some of the characteristics..she still get's carded in her 50s lol but her clothing style is very telling of her age lol she won't let me help her which is frustrating as a amateur stylist
toya8169 JM oh I totally get it! There’s some family members of mine that I just want to bipity-bopity-boop ✨🙈
I am am ingenue and I follow soft and cottagecore styles, it's really interesting to see that the styles I like the most are the ones that fit my "essence" the most too!
The problem is i never know were the heck to buy the clothes. For example i love the boat neck style. 😢
I’m 33 and people always think I’m a teenager or my early 20s. I definitely feel like I fit ingenue.?Can you do a video ingenue vs gamine?
Sure can 😉
I fit all physical features and I just found out I’m ingenue. Especially the dimple part, this is an amazing discover for me
Sitting here watching while I wear a pink and white top with a cherry design!
Same here! SN Kibbe and ingenue. It’s kind of hard to find the perfect fit or style, but when I find something Iike, I just know it’s right.
Same! Soft natural but really look younger than my age. look good in cute and frilly, would love my style more edgy but with SN it can be overdone quite fast
I always felt I was a classic until this. Christina Ricci's look is exactly what suits and attracts me
I am 47, I fall into the Romantic/Ingenue.
THANK YOU!
Never heard of ingenue but it does describe me! Loved learning about this type!!!
I always thought i was a soft gamine, but alot of the clothing recommendations for this type looks overpowering on me. It looks off. Ingenue clothing recommendations makes much more sense for my body.
Hello Elyssa,
I’m so glad I found your channel.
I am definitely ingenue and kibbe classic romantic. I'm looking for wedding hair and makeup ideas
Watching this again and wanted to say that it really is such a good video! Best and most relatable ingenue discussion I've seen.
Love it!
You have helped me more with 1 to 2 videos than ALL the books, articles, and videos I've consumed since age 15...(shhh! I'm 45)
I relate a lot with Ingenue type
Jessica Gomes which is why the Ingenue was due for a comeback 🙌🏻 I’m sure you’re not alone in relating to the archetype 🙃
This is Me ! Thank you for all the info I will definitely be looking at Christina Ricci for fashion inspiration
It may be frustrating at age 21, but she will love it after 30! Lol
l h exactly!
l h : A 36 year old OBVIOUS ingenue here to say, she won't. #kidsmenus4lyfe
She’s in her late 30’s!
Thank you!!💖🌟🎉🎊
yes finally! i'm trying to refine my style around this archetype with a splash of romantic and a bit of edge. its been a challenge to say the least. thank you for this!
cymones curio hahah same here
I need pics. This sounds amazing!
That first picture you used when describing ingenue at 4:13 is so cute, I'm dying!
it’s so insane that this was the answer I got, I’ve been told so many times in my life that I resemble Amanda Seyfried (when I was blonde) & Christina Ricci
Hi😢😮
Elyssa, I am an ingenue and you will not rip me away from the frills. My boyfriend told me he's tired of the puff sleeves and it broke me. LOL
And I think we’re naturally gravitated towards what usually works.....it’s more the idea that we can refine and elevate our personal style with a little bit of know-how 🤗
Thank you! I was wondering what this was 😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Typed as a soft natural… with ingenue and classic mix ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
I'm not even an ingenue (sadly), but I think the ingenue type is so pretty and it's lovely to see a more mature ingenue type, because they have this wonderful quality apart from age. I think Betty White is a great example of being adorable no matter her age.
Eu concordo,Ariana grande realmente pode ser ingenue ela parece fofa e mais como uma adolescente
Same!
I think I am and I fit the soft classic in kibbi. I’m still figuring it out
I’m very small but I can’t dress with pastels and flowers cute. Can’t do it I love my solids dark style. I feel more comfortable in classic clothes then in pink. I like looking chic not cute.
Me too
My essence is definitely ingenue not pure though… my body is more romantic but my essence is youthful playful and I have dimples🥰
When I was 25, I was asked, if I would be in class 9 (15 year od students), with 27, a 17 year old girl thought, that i was her age and was very surprise, that i was 10 years older than her...list goes on
I shop in the children`s department very often, which suit me well- patters, proportions etc.
Ummm yeah must be so hard eyeroll
I still don’t know where I fit into the kibbe system though!
This is always what I wanted to look like. Like a ballerina or fairy. I like feeling small and feminine but my bone structure kind of betrays me.
same hahahah
yeah i’m definitely ingenue. people always ask me what my age is,,,, and i’m like i’m 19 😪and they are like 🤯
I didnt like Rachel’s recommendations for ingenue.
Great video! I loved your examples. I'm 41 and people always assume I'm in my 20's.
MY GOD!!!!! you are really an expert!!!
People say I have 16 when look at my face, but my body they tell 24. I have 23 and I'm fat.
I would love more modern fashion advice for this! This is such a great video
It is very interesting. In the Kibby system, I'm lost between gamines and body test gave me TR... I definitely have some ingenue vibe, so I'm thrilled to see a video about the differences between gamines and ingenues.
I was too and then found out I’m a mix of gamine and ingenue essences
I think Sabrina Carpenter is also a good example of ingenue that has embraced some romantic into her wardrobe as an adult.
You are 1000% correct! SO gorgeous on her! Also, hope you’re doing well 💛
@@elyssa_aesthetic I'm doing fantastic.
Awwwhhh that’s amazing! So glad to hear! And happy you were able to get some inspiration! Best of luck on your fitness competition ✨
I'm a romantic but I've always felt slightly disconnected to it. Now I think I'm a romantic with ingenue essence!
Huh, maybe that explains why I’m in my mid 20s but people think I look 12-15 🤔😐
Omggg saaame. When I was younger I used to be so annoyed bc of it but I’m slowly getting over it
I am definitely an ingénue now I just have to work out my body type.
Interesting information. I like to think I am a little of this and a little if that. It is hard to fit into a mold.
Wow, this is so professionally done. I'm excited to see more videos!
Now you got me hooked on this 😅 What do you make of the Japanese teen girls who love ingenue wardrobes, but most are garmines?
Thank you for this! I struggle to pick whether I’m kibbe SC or TR because I have a lot of ingenue to me. This helps to figure it out what to wear ✨
Ingenue is the only essence that really applies to me but I have a hard time accepting it since they’re portrayed as very petite I am 5’2” but a us size 16/18 so I’m plus sized … I wish there was a more modern version of that book lol
She is not talking about essence . She is talking abut an archetype
At last i found a woman who is talking about ingenue seperately from soft gamine.!! I diagnosed as an ing in hoc. Thank you!!!!
Sis, omg! I’m also INFJ and Ingenue.😭💖
I feel you! Once at 26 a girl younger than me thought I was under 18 😅😅
Same here... according to kibbe type, I'm mostly answer D and I'm a theatrical romantic.
I’ve learned to get used to it!
heeey i am also INFJ and I am 29 people think I'm 16
Loooove your examples and pointing out the specifics in those examples. Personally I love combining ingenue with a bit of contrast. Maybe making it a bit more gamine? Dusty sundresses with a short black velvety 'leather' jacket and leather strappy bracelets or natural gemstone jewelery. Loooove
Is possible to have high contrast being ingenue, think of snow white she has saturated colors in her palette with small and rounded circular shapes.
what about when someone is ingenue but a dramatic in the Kibbe system?
I use my own system/method to help women create a personalized beauty aesthetic. So being a blend of Dramatic and Ingenue is a gorgeous archetype in my system ✨
Some more celebrities with ingenue influence:
Jennifer Lopez (she loooks soooo young, but also is SN or TR or CD or SD sometimes- very versatile, also has ethereal essence a bit);
Marilyn Monroes (def also R);
Britney Spears (also SN);
Shakira (also SN)
Still waiting for the video distinguishing gamine and ingenue
