This quest's addition is a very nice breather from all the high-production quests and content jagex has been focusing on. Not everything has to be the new endgame meta, ya know?
This quest is ported from rs3 and is a requirement for the most difficult quest were going to get

Interestingly I think demonic gorillas are somewhat based on tormented demons (the original monster that dropped dragon claws and dragon platebody) so if they do actually add While Guthix Sleeps, I wonder if they’ll add tormented demons and what will they drop?

I have been using the staff at barrows personally.
Feels good getting all the runes to put into my trident for more demanding content. Not feeling like im wasting charges, scales and runes on trivial stuff like that!
Its SO cheap to use and i have an insane amount of chaos runes to use up
Iban blast is self sufficient as well, with tome of fire, but having to recharge it at the underground pass every few hours sucks pretty hard.
@@marshallc6215 yeah and uses death runes which can be scarce for early ironmen.
The low cost and insane amount of charges is super nice :)
Warped Sceptre doesn't require deaths, only chaos. So honestly it's got a lot of good uses for long AFK content even after 87 slayer

I been killing zulrah, its a decent gap between trident and just not doing it and its nice at barrows aswell saves u doing that awful run to charge ur ibans so has some uses trident is still better obviously

@@miciso666and that's exactly where they wanted it to sit. In raw dps, it's between Iban and trident, but by utility, it using chaos rather than deaths puts it well above trident imo
Tangled toad legs can be exchanged at longramble and they sell at the GE for about 33k. For your IM it won't matter but on a main it's a bit of extra cash
they make less than 100k an hour i dknt think a main would ever attempt this
Came back on 11/21/23 to make sure the Rune Pickaxe was on the drop table. Currently 400 kills in Leagues without a rune pickaxe but 8 kites, 7 warhammers.

So glad jagex added these monsters and the scepter. They’re probably not very interesting for end game accs but for my iron it’s perfect. Great drops plus if you don’t have 87 slayer like me you get a decent mid game staff
Plus charging the staff is dirt cheap, so not only is it a great weapon for accounts that are just about to dip their toes into the mid-game, it'll also let you stack up death runes for more important content. IMO, it's basically ideal for accounts that are looking to start grinding Barrows, since it's way easier to charge than Iban's and does more damage than it as well.
Speaking about hard clued, last week i got a 3°rd age ranged platelegs in my 24°th hard clue!

new scepter is great for iron men at barrows. beats ibans staff but not as good as trident.
Being less than half the cost per cast than trident while being about 90% as efficient is crazy for mid-midlate content is great. People crying this is an iron only update on reddit are clueless.

If its one thing I learned from new monsters from runescape. All items have a purpose. Saling is upon us. Shell might be needed for ship strength or some other weird mechanic. Just look at rs3 new skill necromancer, item ashes went from like less than 100gp to over 10k because it's used in a mechanic to progress the skill
That was a weird few days of RS3. People were dropping the glowing fungus in the haunted mine to create ashes, then use signs of the porter (which are generally used to bank gathered materials like logs and fish) to bank their ashes, because it was basically the fastest way to gather ashes. Then they updated the diary item to bank ashes infinitely, making that method free to do.
IMO a better location is a room just above a ladder towards the end just before the labs, easy safespot and still cannonable
I just finished getting the scepter on my iron, afk ranging but i would just tele out and throw all the shells into deaths coffer while the price checker has them over 10k
Looking forward to grinding this staff out on the group ironmeme to see how it does at barrows. Don’t really need it as I have a trident available to me but it’ll be worth a look.
Just got it on my group iron and its bettter then trident when it comes to cost per cast making it more efficient at Barrows imo

The low defence and high HP makes them decent afk Guthans xp. Just make sure you are on the crush option.
I've been using the staff over my trident at zulrah. The drop in dps is negligible imo

As for the staff: It's 100% going to crash to high alch price as trident is almost a straight upgrade once you have one and the ability to use it.

Not just 87 slayer it’s not like you can get 87 slayer and go farm a trident. Didn’t get mine til almost 90 slayer.
The staff seems like one of the best additions for Ironmen they could have done!

the new staff is a great tool for experienced players to do raids a bit earlier. you can butterfly akkha or do olm mage run the same as a trident with it without the 87 slayer requirement

Trident is better but warped is a cheaper version of it, can also be used in wildy to reduce the loss. Def worth having

I got 3 in 150 kc. It's a nice staff for low levels doing barrows and don't want to go ibans. It's nice for almost all of RFD bosses up until sote bosses. Really just a filler item so irons don't have to grind out slayer for kraken for a trident
