Timing was definitely key to Tyla's Grammy. Also promotion! I live in America and I first realized how great Tyla's song is watching her on an extremely popular tv show The Jimmy Fallon show. The song sounded great with the awesome Afrobeat Ampiano, hope I'm saying it right beat.Tyla's vocal tone, the music, her dancing was amazing. Also, she is Gorgeous and confident! I saw an uncanny resemblance to my daughter. I found her on UA-cam, Instagram and Tiktoc singing Water. We fell in love with Water and Tyla here in America. I must say the African continent does not need the USA to validate the cradle of creativity. The future belongs to you , not only in music but other economic endeavors as well, and rightfully so. I have begun to seek out more info on Afrobeats and African Artist after watching Tyla. Burna Boy, Tems, Davido are incredible. Don't you realize when you are contacted by American artist to collaborate they want what you have. I honestly don't like Chris Brown, J Beiber even Beyonce's collaboration of Water. They were trying to get some of that shine of Tylas. I truly hope she has good people around her to protect her from some of these vultures in America. I love you all and wish the Motherland all of the greatest success in every way. With Love Your Sister ( Nigeria, Mali, Cameroon,Congo, Ghanan descendent. according to my African Ancestry DNA test.❤❤❤

You people saying Tyla does not deserve it are missing the point. Firstly, from the category which is a newly added one, Best African Performance... una dey read at all? Going by that, water is deserving for the fact that it had it's own dance challenge and it was a hit. The category is not just about the song, it is everything including the dance. She deserves it to the moon and back. Period. I'm Nigerian and I support her wholeheartedly.

Leave them. When the followers are not serious, how can the leaders be serious? when they are not getting any pressure from the followers who are suffering but smiling. Followers going through multi-dimensional poverty, food prices skyrocketing on a daily, and security of lives and property is non-existent but you know what lets talk about the awards ceremony of a country that doesn't give a damn about us so we can look fancy and current. Just so you know the unseriousness of this country called Nigeria, they have their own music awards called the Headies, you know what the organizers did, they stopped hosting it in Nigeria and moved it to America. How slavish can one be that you lose all self respect because you want to be accepted by white people.

U remember that SA song Jerusalem just look why the world got dancing more than for Burnaboy or Davido on a global stage. Burnaboy and Davido songs are great but it did not catch the world's eye only in Africa. The South Africans are good in catching that global eye. Believe this next Grammy it's going to be super competitive for having to choose the winner. It could not be A Nigerian neither A South African or maybe any off the two or any from any country from Africa based on a global selected number one. u can be hungry and draw Africa's crowd but did u draw the global eye.
