Contrary to popular belief, Religious and Racial TOLERANCE in America BEGAN in Plymouth Colony.
The Mayflower Compact assured peaceful coexistence of the religious separatists and the secular settlers who composed the "Pilgrims."
Not all settlers to America were good or respectful of natives, but the Pilgrims were.
They believed Leviticus 19:33,34, and so made laws that natives must be treated the same as whites. They even executed whites for killing a native.
The great fear of the Pilgrims was that other groups would come to America who would mistreat the natives, and that this evil would be attributed to them. Sadly, that is exactly what happened.

Yes!! National Day of Mourning. I share your stories and honor you and every ancestor. This year's Day of Mourning I spent it in prayer for our ancestors and filled my mind learning the true history. We need more stories being told especially on film. People are waking up so we must share the truth so we can go back and reconnect to the land and live in unity as we were meant to be. Love to you all.

More Native American movies should be played, especially on " thanksgiving", to remind those that this is not a happy time, it is a time for mourning & rememberence of those who were here FIRST & who died for this country FIRST.

I used to celebrate Thanksgiving. I thought it was a day where the Pilgrims and Native Americans harmoniously ate dinner together. Then one fall day in 2017 or 2018 I read what actually happened, and I've stopped celebrating ever since. I'm glad I did more research. I'm not celebrating a day that's built on a lie. I work on Thanksgiving and I'm happy. When I get off, I plan to spend the day relaxing and reading about the various Native American tribes. In fact, I have a book in my bedroom titled "The Native Americans: The Indigenous People of North America." During the 1800s Native American children were forced to attend "assimilaion" boarding schools as an attempt to strip them of their culture. To this day, Native Americans experience health disparities, lack of employment, and abductions that go unsolved for months or even years. Thanksgiving is nothing to celebrate.

Growing up in whats now know as Massachusetts had an indigenous effect on me, from wanting to know the meaning of place names(i.e. Mattapan-good place to set up camp, which is now just "the hood", Shawamut-which used to be the name of a bank using the upper torso and/or the stylized bust of Sachem Obbatinewat, from the word Mashauwomuk which meant good place for boating) to taking an interest in the waterways and their pollution and disrespect. Peoples personal evolution all differ, and for some the spirit of the land and the folks who once were prominent on the land speak to them. You can call it an old soul, but i am uncomfortable here in this hypocritical so-called modern society. These synthetic clothes we wear ,,we should all be wearing nothing more than leaves. .
I WAS BORN IN MASSACHUSETT,THE PLACE OF BIG HILLS!
WE CANNOT TALK ABOUT THE SO-CALLED FUTURE OF THE U.S. WITHOUT MENTIONING THE PLIGHT OF THE NATIVE PEOPLES THAT WERE AND STILL ARE HERE. WE'VE LOST ALOT OF THE OLD WAYS THAT WERE IN TUNE TO THE PLANET AND NATURE. RESPECT THE ELDERS! ITS NOT ABOUT RACE AND COLOR AT THIS POINT, ITS ABOUT WHATS COMING OUT A PERSONS MOUTH, THEIR ACTS AND INTENTIONS.

If the foe king zees can revive the names of Judea and Samaria in a land they never owned why not use the names of places used by the real owners of the continent west of the Atlantic.
