      First of all Lyric's shouldn't be on an ebike with that amount of travel. However as most ebike users are in their 50s and don't always know the ins and outs of suspension set up this system cant be faulted.

    AXS battery for Reverb, AXS battery for derailleur, AXS battery for shock, AXS battery for fork, battery in cranks, coin batteries in shifter/levers, massive battery in bike. It's getting a bit much. There needs to be a wiring standard and a way to run this stuff from the main battery so we never have to worry about charging peripherals.

    • @embn
      @embn 2 роки тому +2

      That's a great point to make! Although AXS is game-changing, it would be more convenient if it ran off one battery. Perhaps on e-bikes, this is an easy fix. It's still new technology, so it'll be interesting to see where the development of the AXS products goes. 👍

      @@embn I'm actually wondering if the XTR Di2 when it finally comes out will be able to plug into the EP8/battery for power given that Shimano's road 12-speed still relies on an internal battery. I wonder if this is planned on the assumption that ebikes will be the future so designing their electronic shifting to be wired to an internal battery may be the long game.

    I currently ride the new Giant Trance E Advanced with the Fox live valve system. It is a nice gimmick, but the minuscule benefits do not justify the cost. On the Fox system you only have closed and opened. It would be more interesting if the system would fully regulate the compression over the whole spectrum of available dampening instead of open/(pedal)/closed. I would definitely not choose a bike only for its electronic suspension or buy it aftermarket.

    Cool tech...looks like it ACTUALLY works w/out too much hassle. If given to me sure.😁 And great for max efficiency on an analog bike if you got the cash...but for the E-mtb? Way less needed. The less complex my E-rig, the better. It can already be a challenge when my E-beast is throwing up error codes...so one less digital feature that avoids bugs? Plus, I'll have more 💸 for the stouts and IPA post-ride IMHO🍻

    I never ride a rear shock in anything other than open mode, especially on an ebike. Pedal efficiency isn’t an issue at all. Flight attendant might work but it’s absolutely unnecessary and just like fox live valve, it will have a short life….

      Agreed! I chose the EXT Arma over their Storia for my Turbo Levo because I never used the levers on the original shock or fork. My regular ride includes a total of about 670 m (2200 feet) of climbing according to my Garmin, including a stretch of rutted 25%. I never noticed enough difference with the original shock and fork locked to bother with it. Maybe if you're a racer who is concerned with shaving off seconds?

    Seeing this from a heavy bike perspective.. ebike.. it has its pre-set sag and calibrations and it actively suspences. If your looking for a care free ride this is a great shock. This is like the best "leave it be" self adjusting suspension you can get other then a high end car.

    Noticed these systems now available cheap"er" now on 2022 bikes... comparable to the prices of non-tricked out models... trouble is.. if this kit fails how much would it be to repair/replace? and could you ditch the front or rear shock for analogue if there is a failure and will the rest of the system function?

    Had to smile at this... so basically an electronic implementation of the Scott twinloc system (which by the way i loved when i had my scott non ebikes. So comparison is extra cable and lever on the bars and using your thumb to select locked, traction and open which less face it you dont swap between that often and rarely need to do it that quickly vs battery, electronic box, tech and auto changes the same suspension from locked, pedal and open and the price difference is???? No thanks 😉

      I have an older ransom. I never lock it out.
      I have been building dh bikes for 25 years. I have a system that locks one if the two rear shocks when you peddle. It works awesome. I hide it and have forever. It has 10.75 travel. I really dont want to get into all that. Ive already made my way with 200 patents in magnet industrial couplings. Im done. But i just set up cnc shop to produce dh ebikes. No need for my lockout system in that. I bought that Scott because it was somewhat similar to my designs. I just dont want to get into racing at all. Im 50 now. Ebikes are the way to go. Its a blast. My bikes have 10" travel. Billet beauties. Been doing it for 25+ years. Once i saw pole was doing it i decided to go for it. Im keeping it low key. If i make a few frames a week im happy .
      Cheers!

    My buddy just spent $10K on the Giant Trance with Fox LiveValve. First off, Fox used the 36 fork, rather than the 38, on a 56 pound ebike. Secondly, the fork does not work as advertised. The suspension is the most wallowy, bobbing system I've ever seen. Every techy climb is now an exercise in using a pogo stick. His conversion to e-forks & shocks has definitely confirmed that I'm not on board with the tech just yet. I'm certain that auto shifting and auto suspension will be prime time one day, just not this day.
    He bought into the hype because he could never get his suspension set up correctly. Or, truth be told, he never bothered to take a day, and set it up properly.
    Currently I run a Fox 38. It took me a little while to dial it in. But now everything I ride feels like butter. And everything is predictable.

    I have the same bike but don’t have that experience at all. Mine grips and climbs like a cat up 20%+ grades. I’d say its setup related. EMBN rode the same bike and raved about it (another data point). I do think you shouldn’t get a bike because of it. The bike is like an ATV that just eats up bumps (I’ve had friends ride my bike). I did however, not pay retail and got mine for a steal.
