@@DM-qp7do I remember when these trucks were brand new, I was fresh out of high school. I've always wanted to own one but it's just not practical for me right now . In the meantime I enjoy watching other people work on there projects to give me ideas for the future. Recently I came across this guy who took a 2000 Silverado and change the entire front clip to a 2010 . The truck had 2010 fenders, bumper headlights and Hood. I talked to him for a little bit and ask him what gave him the idea and why didn't he just purchase a 2010 Silverado instead of doing all the work. He told me he needed to stay busy during the covid shut down. His entire investment was about $1,500 for the parts truck. And 1400 for the paint job. I've seen people do conversions but this was the first time I saw one like this one I wish I would have taken pictures
@@isap9535 I'm not a fan of the 2010 look but I've seen a few people do a 2016 front end and it looks good. I got lucky and came across my 07 Classic at COPART ( salvage auction) not sure if you know but 2007 was a split year for body styles, the "Classic" is the older style also known as "cat eye" trucks. I LOVE that year because its before AFM and its also flex fule so I can run on E85. Right now these trucks are going for a lot of money for how old they are but if you watch the sales and social media carefully you can get one for a good price.
I have a base model 04’ cat eye and am going to do the HD grill, I’m understanding I have to get the HD hood to make it look right but I’d have to change out the bumper as well? Or is your trucks a base model too, it looks clean.
So this is a 2005 4.8 1500 and you just bought the HD Hood and Grill no other accessories needed they just bolt in like normal ? I want to do this so is this correct
Yes, that’s all I did. I bought the hood from a same year truck, but it was a 2500 HD cat eye and it was as simple as bolting it on. All I had to do is buy the HD grill and the side inserts which are in the link in the description.
Ese mi Loco you're gonna be fighting those After Market front light housings for as long as you own that Classic unless you put Factory ones! And New ones are Super Expensive, not cheap like the $75 eBay ones. EBay ones are impossible to align the beam, parking/dl housing will pop out if you can get them to clip in to begin with Annnd they will Always turn into aquariums. You've been Warned! *Tip if you got the time and patients: Pick up some used Factory ones, sand and polish And put LaminX on the Factory housings! Pre cut LaminX is the way to go and it ain't cheap either 50/60 bux. LaminX takes about 5 days to adhere real good and clear up it's true, it'll say that in the directions. Don't work the sh!t out of it, it will clear up. Also, most videos show sanding and polishing On the vehicle, best to do it on the bench or kitchen table. Also only put Turbo type mufflers if you put exhaust, anything else will make your bombita sound like a motorboat................
I’m currently putting an HD hood as we speak and mine has a gap on the side lines. One video says I need to get a 2006 hinge and than I see this video and you literally used all your old hinge and bracket. Do you have an advice on how to align it? I have a 2004 silverado.
The way I figure it out how to align my hood was to unscrew the bolts that hold the hood by the brackets close your hood down and move it around and see that the lines are straight and then slowly lift your hood up without it moving and screw bolt on each side so that way it doesn’t move but you’re gonna have to keep trying because it is time consuming to get it right or close to being right,You’re going to repeating that until your lines match up Hopefully this helps you out and I want to say thanks for watching my videos
The narrow end that goes towards the grill should have a little hook/ notch type of deal that slides in first and then it should pop right in and also I put 3M double-sided tape at the end of the wider side of the part to make sure it doesn’t pop out,I’m pretty sure I show that on the video if you wanna go back and look at that it should be on there
@@chrisc7639 Same bumper except the HD bumper has a bigger/taller top plastic piece and the inner brackets are different. The grille and hood are direct swap.
Bro, Can you please reply with answer, Thank you. 1) will that 05' hd hood work on my GMC Sierra (2500 HD ) ? I realize the 02' silverado HD hood will work without many changes except the obvious cut for lights BUT what about the 05 HD hood on a 02' Sierra 2500hd. Hoods (05 & 02 chevy HD) look very much alike from what I can see. Please help. Tnx
I don't understand why you didn't just bolt your new hood to the hood hinges the old hood was on. Been lot easier and you wouldn't have to worry about the new ones being messed up and having to take the hood off again
ebay is where I got the grill www.ebay.com/itm/174296814571 and I got the hd hood in the facebook market and also you will need the grill sides inserts www.ebay.com/itm/272988161056
It wasn’t easy that’s for sure it was a lot of opening and closing the hood and tightening the bolts. There is three bolts attached underneath the hood on Each side and I would loosen them all lower the hood tried to hold that position then open hood and tighten bolts one at a time and when you’re done lower the hood back down and look at your lines and if The lines are still off repeat the process again, I hope this helps you out
That looks so much better i need to do this to my 05 cat eye
Take the 3 bolts out of each side on the hood, not the hinge bolts. And the bowties are the same, swap them out in the grille.

Yeah that’s the way I bought it from Copart I will be doing a video here soon of me taking it apart and getting it aligned straight
I was wondering Can this grill fit on A 2001 bubble eye single cap Chevy
It would only fit 2003-2007 cateye chevy Silverado if you’re converting it to HD
Just a grill itself would not fit you might have to buy a whole front end
Why not just take the 3 bolts out of each side of the hood and leave the hinge in place???
The hinges is the ones I needed to swap out because the ones that came with the hd hood were bent

It's actually just 05 HD. 06-07 have the and grill hood on non HDs.
Is the firewall to hood weatherstripping different. My 06 has a HD hood and water is constantly getting underwood in that area
No it lines up the same unless your weatherstrip is worn out Or needs to be replaced
Where did you get the little pieces on the side of the grille from? I’ve seen a lot of hoods I want but none come with those pieces
The link is in the description and I did get it from Amazon
I have a 04 single cab for the hd conversion i just need hood and grill? I seen videos where they have to do the bumper and fenders as well.
I don’t know about the fenders but I know the bumper you can swap out for an HD I just haven’t had luck find one
