    Aw, man... I settled in with my fresh cup of joe, ready for a nice shoe repair video and it's only a 5 minute PSA. But, agreed on Phillippians 4:8. We're still waiting to be introduced to that GOOD dog cruising the shop in the background of some of the videos. I'm guessing that Heath belongs to that GOOD dog.

      😁 Trying to get back to mixing things up a bit like we used to do when we first started the channel (repair videos, tutorials, etc). Glad you saw the Bible verse. Yep, she’s Heath’s dog and a regular at the shop now. Well introduce her soon. Have a great weekend!

      You did a pair of German Fallscharmjager boots. NOW do a real pair of COCCORANS......The hill is rubber with an angle on the front of the hill.....This is to prevent a chance of hanging in the door....lt can happen....
      The army does not believe in saddlel soap or neatsfoot oil.....All they want it to shine....Some soldats in use Glow Coat kitchen wax to shine the cap toe.

    Very insightful! Question about resoling wedge sole boots: is it possible to leave the existing midsole and only replace the outsole? I got a nice leather midsole put on the last resole and would lke not to replace it again. In theory, it seems possible, like peeling old top lifts off a pair of shoes, sanding off the residue, and gluing new soles on.

    Excellent counsel. I've been wondering if I can add a stack to my beloved A.E. Daltons both to raise them a bit and to waylay the wear on the heel. Also, I was given a pair of Grenson Freds that have non-metallic taps on the heel and toes. Will these do the same thing? Thanks for another great video!

      Probably never will. I've tried multiple times and they just don't respond. Love how their videos are of them recrafting all different construction shoes, but if you go through their website it says they only recraft Goodyear welted shoes.

      @@phil6012 *That's too bad they don't reply back 🙁 They could be very busy. Or I wonder if there was a reason for them to not respond. Seems like their emails get buried a lot, and people's emails get lost under other people's emails. I know Steve at Bedos Leatherworks has said that on his channel before. Sorry to hear.*

      Thanks everyone for the heads-up. I think also, the resole has to make for good viewing and mine is probably just an everyday job. I sure miss that J & M quit resoling their own shoes. 😔

    My RW 875 soles are starting to look the video caption. Can a cobbler just peel the wedge off the rubber midsole and glue a new one on or do I have to go further than that (new cork, welt, etc.)

    I once bought a very cool vintage pair of cowboy boots on eBay. When they arrived, it turned out that the rubber heel pads had both been completely removed and the person had kept on wearing them on just the leather heel block. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Turns out, just pulling off the heel pads and carrying on is NOT a great solution to worn-out heel pads! The re-heeling was cheap. Would’ve been cheaper without a couple of layers of the heel block needing to be replaced too, though!

    Is it normal to have a Goodyear welt to have a minor separation from the mid-sole? It's about 10mm on both boots that have separated.....
    Thx for your reply!

    • @TrentonHeath
      @TrentonHeath  6 місяців тому

      I’m assuming the stitches are still holding in that area but it’s showing signs of minor separation? If so, it’s just wear the glue is coming undone. No biggie really until the stitches also come undone there.

      No need for a full resole if it is not a real trash-shoe like a nike etc with these tall foam soles.Just sand the are and apply a piece of rubber.

    • @EssenceofPureFlavor
      @EssenceofPureFlavor 6 місяців тому

      Not thrifty if it means the shoe can't be resoled or it costs more to resole.

    • @RatdogDRB
      @RatdogDRB 6 місяців тому +1

      The difference between "thrifty" and "cheap" is that a thrifty cowboy gets it repaired BEFORE the cost of repair increases due to this damage. The cheap cowboy just doesn't know, or doesn't want to come out of that river called Da Nile and spend a little, but learns the hard way when he has to spend a LOT.

    Interesting video But lets say a shoe or work booth cost $ 150 to $ 200 .00 dollars are they worth resolving

    • @brianathern9154
      @brianathern9154 6 місяців тому

      This will depend on how attached you are to them. I have a pair of 16 or so year old Redwing boots that I had resoled from the hard surface to more of the uneven rough surface sole that's softer and easier on the feet. Cost was $110 for that on a pair of boots that cost about the same then but new replacement boots in similar Redwing are going for almost 200 now. And with a new insert they're like wearing newer boots. Does this help?

    • @TrentonHeath
      @TrentonHeath  6 місяців тому +1

      It depends upon what you’re having done and who the shoe cobbler is. New heel pads…yeah. ($50 max by most places). Some shoe cobblers will resole for $100.
