- In this video we unbox the Traxxas Fiesta ST to see what this 10th scale rig has to offer. Being a fairly low cost RC, it's not surprising the little car has some speed issues, but understanding that issue, this little car is a blast to play with. I got one for Christmas. I knew it was going to need the 3S power up done to make it truly fun to run. I have also added the optional center diff and GTR shocks. It is a blast to run now. I am planning on taking it to the track for the fun of it.
Great Review. I agree that in stock configuration this is not for someone that is used to brushless cars.

You remind me of a platoon sergeant I had....exact same mannerisms.
Just got one myself... it's just as you say, painfully slow, and needs mods just to handle any power. However I did go into this one knowing what to expect and had intended for it to be my early winter project. I've seen what these are capable of with some careful modifications however, and they can be amazing. Part of my problem is that I used to race nitro buggies before I had to drop out of the hobby for a few years, and for R/C cars of this size anything below 55 - 60 mph just doesn't excite me. So that's going to be my target with this car.
As far as value? This is where I disagree with you... Considering the crap radio, crap slipper clutch, crap tires (they are OK for a stock, unmodified car), and an ESC that can't even handle a 3S battery, for $270 this car is expensive for what you get. As it is, there are a lot of parts that are going to end up in the spares box including the Rx/Tx. Traxxas should have at least offered a 3S capable ESC and a mild brushless motor setup... that or just offer a VXL version of the car. Alternatively if Traxxas offered a rolling chassis with the body shell for under $200, where I have to add the electronics myself, I would be perfectly happy with that as well.

Greatest review that I have probably heard from that car. DO you mean if you upgrade center driver shaft you can push it better on 4S.
We haven’t tried that yet. We did install a new shaft but haven’t pushed it that far yet. Thanks for asking 😎👍

A couple of parts from Traxxas, you can turn a Slash 4x4 into a Rally :) Traxxas really dropped the ball on this one. Such a shame.
I was a bit surprised when I saw it was basically a Slash. Still, that means there are many upgrades already built for it, which is pretty cool. The thing does drive good, and with the upgrades I put into it, it's fast too. Still, you would think they would have put a bit more thought into it. Thanks for the comment. AJ

Kind of a bummer about the car , honestly. I'm one of those guys that pray to the RC Gods that Rally will hit it big here in the states😊 Just because they are so much fun to drive. On a well set up car, the handling is just insane! Great review, however, very balanced in my opinion, and very thorough.

It looks nice, but I am maybe gone buy a used HPI WR8 FLUX 1/8, it is about the same size but with stock 2S/3S electronics.
Do you know anything about that car? It is discontinued, but some parts are still avaiable.

That's a great paint job. Do you know how manufactures do that painting - so every body is identical?
Yes. The factory paints the bodies. As far as I know they are all the same.

I would suppose so. I’ve never seen how that’s done.
@TiberiusCat these body are screen printed, not painted. That's the reason traxxas bodies don't have clear windows most of the time.
I think for the price and base platform I would rather get the slash with higher ground clearance and a fiesta shell and mod accordingly for more jumping capabilities
Why? You'd end up back at the Rally? This IS a Slash LCG 4WD chassis with shorter arms etc. You'd literally have to buy the same parts to get back to the base and spend more in the process. I bought this knowing if I didn't like it... I could convert it into a Slash easy enough.
I bought the car, added VXL system, swapped out the slipper for a center diff, replaced the plastic drive shaft with the aluminum center shaft. Doubled the preload on the shock springs to gain a bit of ground clearance, and raised the body mounts (you CAN'T do this with the new clipless mounts) up to get a bit more wheel clearance...
End result?
I'm having a blast. The front of the body doesn't rub in the corners, and doesn't hit the ground nearly as often jumping or big bumps etc... It's every bit as fun as my Slash VXL 2WD truck off road. I bought this because I did NOT want another Slash... we have three 2WD drive Slashes already... this is my fist 2WD.
Really too bad I love the rally car. Would be an instant buy for me if it was designed to be 3s out of the box.

Cool car just wished Traxxas would offer this as a VXL version also with some real camber links. That why I started with a Slash Ultimate then coverted it to Rally Body and suspension. Thanks for sharing great video
