OMG, "A" for effort! I just replaced a flipper coil on my 78 Bally Blackjack, and now it buzzes slightly, the old one didn't. I'm ignoring it, because I'm just glad my flipper works again!!
Trying to figure out why my upper diverter coil on my William's Rollergames buzzes. I thought the plunger may have been hyperextended, but now, not so sure.
Its all about minimizing flipper noise. You never tried to file down the second hand coil stops 1/16 at a time . I also would have used the spring washer as a template to make the automotive washers and finally i would have used a strong cable tie to clamp both front and rear stops together. Do all that, then check with the glass on and chances are you will barely hear any flipper noise.
Your reply is highly technical and relevant and I don't mean to detract from that. It's just that I don't think for a new ~$10k pinball machine, you should have through any of the above. Stern should've QA'ed the hell out of this and fixed it for us all and for ever.
