Great share. I hate the main landing gear on the SL. Not a fan of the tail design either, but I appreciate the significance of the SL.

That is a really rare aircraft - can't think when I last saw a Sabreliner flying - it has been many years. I also hard a hard time recognizing Anoka County airport with all the new hangars east of runway 18/36 and north of 9/27, plus the extension of runway 18/36. Had to look at it on Google Maps to try to get my bearings. Used to fly out of ANE over 30 years ago

Thanks for the video, it brings back memories. I used to fly a Sabre 60 years ago, it had the straight turbojet engines, and slats on the wings.

You notice the reg is 65SL..65{the model} and SL for Sabre Liner...The plane was built like a tank. Bob Hoover use to do a aerobatic routine in a Sabre liner and if I remember right it was a stock aircraft with no modifacations to the airplane.

I believe the one that we had at our A&P school, was a 1955 model.
I always heard that the wing is very similar, to the F-86 Sabre.
Do you know what year this one is? I suppose I could look it up.

      Oh wow it’s an ‘81.
Practically brand-new compared to the one I worked on.
I was not aware that they were in production that long.

The most awesome jet ever. You cut away too soon though. The best part is listening to the jet roaring at full throttle.

Yeah I unfortunately expected to get up faster and climb over the FBO but it rolled long.

    This is awesome!
We had a Sabre liner at the A&P school I went to in Memphis.
It was the first aircraft that I removed and installed a jet engine on.
It really takes some skill, some knowhow, and some studying to maintain an old bird like that! I wonder how the parts situation is on it.

These were the airplanes my dreams were made of as a child in the 1970s. Here in Kiel/Germany there was the first demand airline in Germany at that time. Their name was “Holstenflug” and I think they had 2 of these planes in their fleet - unforgettable times!
