b3108 The rendition you are listening to now was released 28 May 2002 on the Album: Explorations. The Original was released in the summer of 1978 on Lonnie's album: Exotic Mysteries. He also released another rendition of this song in 1998 on his album Transformation. Lonnie Liston Smith is the originator of this song Quiet Moments.
I think you will find all three versions equally enjoyable. I did not think one could improve upon perfection until I listened to all three. Each one has it's own "Smooth Jazz" personality, special characteristics punctuated with Lonnie's unique signature. It is much like someone asking you which of your children you love most. You love them all equally; each according to their own gifts. Having been a fan of Lonnie Liston Smith since the early 70's, I love them all.
I once gave my students this quote to help inspire them to always strive to do & be their best: "GOOD, BETTER, BEST, Never let it rest; until GOOD becomes BETTER, & BETTER, BEST". This has to be Lonnie Liston Smith's true "Trifecta"
