What if I can’t get it to twist. It is a couple years old and filthy. Any suggestions?

Clean it around the edge. Make sure you're twisting it the correct direction. The first time it was a little hard to twist off. After that it comes off easy.

Thank you for teaching me how to open the fan shroud. By any chance do you know how to replace the fan? How to remove the fan itself?

      No I don't. It's probably not removable

I have the same exact fan for the most part but mine isn't recharge, I have to keep it plugged into a USB port for power. Sometimes when I first start it, it struggles to get going. Almost like it needs to be oiled. Any suggestions on that? If I were to just drip oil in that small gap behind the blades, do you think it would damage the electronic components inside? I just need to get the thing oiled.

No I'd just get a new one. The opolar I have is rechargeable. It last awhile in low and medium. Doesn't take that long to charge either. I've tried a few different ones and I like the Opolar the best. It's lasted about 3 years so far.

It may have debris in there keeping it from working properly you can try to fix it tho. If you don't mind messing it up from the oil.

@@Olly.sunshine I'm afraid to put oil in there but sometimes it won't even hardly get started. I've had it for four or five years so it's getting older. However, I'm traveling from country to country right now and it's all I have to keep me cool at night in some spots. I guess if it quits working I can probably find something similar to it at a local store somewhere but if I can keep this thing working, I would rather. If it has debris in it, there's no way I can get it out since the fan cannot be removed. I guess I'm just looking for ideas.
