I think David needed to be much clearer that he is referring to a very particular subset of black culture - gang culture - and understand more around the socio-economic conditions that gives rise to this culture. There is no such thing really as 'black culture' as a whole - there are many subsets of black culture which express in different ways. Reggae for example glorifies peace, love and harmony, whilst gangster rap culture glorifies violence and misogyny.
Unfortunately, DS doesn't (or didn't) grasp that it was a subset of blacks, which is the basis of all racism - to paint a whole race or culture as bad for the actions of a few. Very disappointing to see him miss that glaring point. Some people are just looking for reasons to hate, it feels so good.

People are too stupid to understand the nuance of what Starkey was saying. He worded it badly but he wasn't actually being racist -- he was blaming culture. Culture is not defined by race, you can raise a baby however you want to raise it. If a black baby for example was raised in a posh part of England he would behave like the people around him. Whether liberals want to admit it or not, unfortunately there is a "destructive nihilistic gangster culture" that is prevalent within poor black urban communities (something which the media in fact embellishes and glamourises with the degenerate rap music they happily push upon the masses). You need to address this "culture" or you will never make progress.
The nuance here is that Starkey was specifically calling out this culture which has infected traditional Britain. He wasn't saying that if you're born black you're automatically a degenerate. Again, he worded it badly, but he was calling out this essence of "black culture" (which it is, you can deny it all you want but it is), he was not referring to biology.
It's sad that the two men are the only ones capable of speak calmly and think rationally. The women just attack and try to shout over the guy. I don't agree with his viewpoint, but he has a lot of patience to deal with those two.
I watched this on the BBC site and all I could do was chuckle half the time.

Racism was here long before race riots.
Immigration is what's causing our largely peaceful society to deteriorate. People care about and trust their neighbours less in more "diverse" societies, which makes it easier for people to act the way we saw last week. Ethnically homogenous societies are the happiest and most peaceful, and we should aspire to maintain them.
