My husband and I have been full-timing in this model (2023) with our two dogs for 18 months. The dishwasher and washer and dryer (we had installed for delivery) were not optional for us and we use them all the time. Our "old boy" dog spends most of his time sleeping on the deck, we love having the space off the ground, and a better view and more sun than on the ground campside. My husband works full-time and uses the midbunk for his office (moved that couch out to the deck, we bought a cover for it that works great in the rain, and has his desk where the couch was. Upper bunk stays folded up). I can fit 8 coats and two dog leashes in the front closet, we use the loft bunk for storage and stack a lot of shoe boxes on those loft stairs. There are drawers under the bed. We bought a new mattress and living room tv, the originals were terrible. Love love love both the fireplaces, we use them for heat and rarely have to run our furnace (we winter in southern Utah and summer in southern Alberta). It makes me crazy there is only ONE drawer in the kitchen. We had a narrow end table the length of the island that fits perfectly on the sink side for an extra couple shelves amd two more drawers. There's no reason they couldn't put in another bank of narrow drawers there!
Pantry adjustable shelves ARE needed. Rear deck option with sliding glass door is awesome. Nice floor plan with mid-bunk and loft . Three A/C units rocks! King bed and washer/dryer prep are cool! Nice master closet. Great overall unit.
Dishwasher is a must for me in a home or rv. I prefer keeping my sink clear and keeping dirty dishes in the dishwasher until its full. Then I run it. It saves a ton of water compared to hand washing, and my time is better spent doing anything else :P
🙂 this is a BEAUTIFUL rig. We don't like dishwashers in a 5th wheel or RV. Big waste of space. We have a portable dishwasher, me. 😂 My wife cooks, I do dishes. This way they are always done and put away.
Thank you JD for the review, been asking for years. We have a 2021 that is really a 2020. We added a second solar panel and a second battery and a generator. Replaced the water heater to an on demand (day 1 ). The dishwasher is very quiet and uses 3 gallons and it is loved. You are correct on the non adjustable pantry shelves however the storage in the bonus room covers everything. The Cat room ( loft) is outstanding for stuff. Ours has 2 ACs and both have heat pumps. Ours came with a worthless 1200 watt inverter and was changed to a 3000 Zantrex for the coffee maker to work. The converter was also changed to a lithium charger. The rims on ours are 16 not 17.5 however we had the Morryde Independent suspension and disk brakes installed and the Lippert pin box changed to the Morryde at a GD rally (accidental). The solar controller was changed to a MPPT from a PWM so more panels could be added and better charging for 2 100a batteries. And yes, I use E-trailer for parts and stuff. We do love the 382MBQ. Missing on ours is the ceiling fan and the kitchen slide was redesigned for the larger space next to the oven. The bed does not have storage underneath but other 382s have drawers under them. The bed tilts and must be raised to close the slide out. The hamper on the new models in our opinion is worthless however ours has a cabinet there. Issues- only if requested.
We have the ‘21 Durango Gold G383RLT. We use the dishwasher daily when at the campground, although we’re not full timers. Glad we have it. I agree, the pantry shelves should be adjustable. K-Z makes a nice fiver. Thanks for the review!
@@c.a.3342Hi. Any mass produced rv will have quality issues due to the speed of construction and the fact that they’re still largely hand assembled. If you insist on a higher level of quality, you’ll need to research the lower volume manufacturers. I read a lot of positive reviews on Brinkley, for instance, and of course Airstream, but you’ll pay a premium for perceived higher quality. I would stay away from the biggest mass produced brands because they’re all plagued with initial quality issues you’ll deal with for at least the first year or so, maybe longer. I’ve enjoyed my K-Z but it went thru growing pains too, but have no serious regrets. It’s a very nice and luxurious fifth wheel. Good luck and do your homework.
I watched a video on family that lived full time in their 5th wheel and boon docked a fair amount of the time, and the wife said it actually helped them conserve water, I have never boon docked with a dishwasher so I can't comment from experience
Love the reviews, we have a Milestone 377MB and I wish it had the deck, I do agree it needs to have a built-in windows or something as we love our rear windows. Also agree with the need to swap out the recliners with a pull out couch.
We have the Durango Gold 366FBT and love it. KZ seems to build a good RV that stays together. For the dishwasher, take it or leave it. Actually thinking of taking ours out for more cabinet space. Keep the videos coming JD!
We have a 382MBQ and we always use the dish washer. One thing that I think was missing was the in this video was the king bed is a tilt bed. its nice for when watching TV having the bed tilted up.
Thanks for the review JD! Would you please include the length and width of RVs you review in addition to the weights you already provide. Would be very helpful. Thanks again!
Love the deck, love the overall design. I’m looking for a bunk room to serve as an office for my husband to work from as we look to “retire” in the next 5 years or so, so he can finish his career on the road. I’ve seen and am always looking for the bunk room to also house the washer and dryer so I get my entire closet in the bedroom area. I agree, ditch that dumb laundry drawer thing; leave the dishwasher; up the payload. Beautiful start to a really usable RV. IMHO.
If I was a full time RVer, I would want a dishwasher. Since we are a few times a year type and don't always go where we have access to lots of water, I don't need one. I like the RV as a whole. I agree, that it would be nice to have the bunk space to be a multi-use space. I was thinking that all they would need to change really is to add a pull-out desk extension option under the open shelving space (something like they do with the dining tables or pull out counters in fancier rvs) and then you could still keep all the storage as is but make it usable as a desk as well. I also agree with the need for adjustable shelves and one or two more that can be added in the pantry.
You could dump the table and chairs and put two more recliners there get rid of the two recliners that are separate and put a sofa there that makes into a bed
In the back room, I can’t disagree with that statement about putting a desk. They are still have all those nice shelves. People can always get a TV tray to sit in front of the couch to use if they need to for a computer and stuff. I love the bunk room!
My 2024 GD 310GK boasts how it is prepped for a DW. My dealer had not a clue how to install one and they have been around for decades. I suggest a sink mounted top load DW for those who want one. They have been used in the marine industry for years and fit in a "normal" double sink configuration. Cool option.
Dishes are a constant frustration when we don’t have a dishwasher and we use way more water when washing by hand than the dishwasher uses. I agree that the pantry needs adjustable shelves.
I like the lay out. We camp in mostly New York state camp grounds. We're length is a issue most videos don't give you overall lenght. And sidewall construction. I'm about the construction of a rv.yes I know not normal
JD you hit on “one or the other” with the soft closing hinges, buts what’s crazy to me is giving you an upgraded equalizer but leaving a cheap shackle.
I despise washing dishes by hand so a dishwasher is a huge plus. I also have “central Texas allergies” so there have been plenty of nights I have slept in a recliner because it’s easier to breathe with the elevation.
The nice thing about a dishwasher is how little water it uses but they are typically so small I’m not sure how much water you save. This one looks like it could hold a decent amount.
Got a 2021 k-z product so far seems pretty well nailed together. Came with equaflex suspension but the thin straps and no wet bolts...can't have it all I guess
No dish washer needed. May i add 3 questions ? " In regards to this better floor plan & deck , which brand and model would be your spacious confident final purchase for an active retiring couple who would only occasionally travel 3 times a year ( No bunks ) 2nd question > Is adding extra length self leveling legs a good practical possibility when living in a hilly country ? 3rd > Am i alone always wishing for a separate toilet & shower bathroom ? Thanks.
I normally want to see a coat closet, but in this case, I think the midbunk needs to closet more, and then just put some hanging hooks in the hallway for coats.
We have the DURANGO GOLD 383RLQ. It has a dishwasher that we use for extra storage. Have used it maybe twice. Would prefer no dishwasher. *We are full timers.
On dishwashers: many studies have shown that dishwashers (if run when full) use water and soap more efficiently than hand washing. Dishwashers are also more sanitary, heating water to temperatures that would scald human hands to kill germs. Why would anyone do by hand, something that a machine can do better, and more efficiently? Especially something as cataclysmically BORING as washing dishes?
Negatives: vents on the floor, one bathroom, no desk in the bunk room, dishwasher is not necessary. We use paper plates. Very little closet space if full timing.
I really wanted a floor plan like that without the bunk room, I plan on doing some traveling this year, but it's only me, so I don't need a trailer that big. I ended up buying a Cougar 260mle instead
? What is the wweight for the under floor? I am 400 lb and my husband is 390 lib. Floorboards in a house is wow! Will the thin floor take us and the family? Is their a warrenty for this?
I would love to see it have a few tie down points just to throw a single motorcycle in there or MAYBE squeak an atv. Heck, just enough for bicycles even would be cool. Granted, that of course would add cost/weight/etc but I think it would be worth it.
I still think our 398 Brookstone is the best mid bunk out there when I consider function and price. The Brookstone to me would be perfect. If it had that drop deck I would love that and I would love if the loft had that kind of entrance. The things that i don't like for me, even though I would say yes, this is probably the best mid bunk model, the pantry - which I could add a shelf up top, the dishwasher - I can't imagine what kind of failures or leaks could come from that, and only 1500 pounds of storage. Is it the Brookstone somewhere in the 2s? I actually did look at this model before I bought yours and I believe the sale price was 105,000 sticker price in September 2021.
When my husband and I move to this lifestyle I don’t think a dishwasher would be important 🤔. Just curious.. if you don’t want a dishwasher can they just add extra storage???🤔
Response, I’d rather have a dishwasher than a washer/dryer any day. If I go to the laundromat the worst chore which includes couch blankets as we have dogs, is done so much faster, multiple loads.
I would like to see someone who could show the differece in water use between a dishwasher full of dishes, and a the same amount of dishes in a sink. I know at home, I use less using the dishwasher
Dishwashers a benefit to the global overall savings. Dishwashers use minimal amounts of water under pressure clean versus hand washing and continuous water running to rinse.. My Mom, who always kept an immaculate house always said..."A dishwasher is a really good place to keep your dirty dishes hidden ".
Yes, a dishwasher is a must! I HATE doing dishes by hand!
We have had our 382MBQ for 3 years and love it. I use my dishwasher all the time.
Full time rver.A dishwasher is an ABSOLUTE must! Won’t buy a rig without one or atleast a convenient place to install one.
I like this. The recliners are great, especially since you have the bunkroom and sleeping loft.
My thoughts exactly
I absolutely love our dishwasher. It uses less water than hand washing, so we especially use it dry camping.
Really love this unit. I personally love having a dishwasher in an RV and it is something I look for.

Love the dishwasher feature in this unit, hate doing dishes while I'm vacationing!

How do you winterize an rv dishwasher for off-season winter storage?
You simply start it with anti freeze available, there is a winterize position on the water control. We have had ours for 3 years now
Yes to a dishwasher!

Like how the loft doesn't have a ladder sticking out in hallway.

the payload capacity of that trailer is only 1500 lbs total. That leaves you safely only 710 lbs for other family and stuff yall bring.

You need to properly show the oven. I personally want to see how deep it is.
Dishwashers use way less water! & are easier than hand washing
