Yes! Actually I should have mentioned in the video that this is a great tip for learning new things - are you able to explain it to someone else confidently? If not, which parts don't you really understand yet? Good point!
Basic statistics suggest that he will not increase the grade boundaries as Mr Bicen's results will be classed as outliers in most, if not all cases (depending on how Mr Bicen performs in the less familiar Further Maths modules).
13 Exams?! Hopefully you do get through them. It'd be great to know any new techniques or ideas I could take into my exams, and hopefully be aware of any common mistakes...
Honestly, I don't think I'm the best person to ask. Our school gives us these PG online powerpoints and I just look through those. There are literally no online resources for our course other than past papers, which I only recommend doing after you have covered all of the year 12 content because the number is so limited. I made my own flashcards set which covers the whole course and I just spend my time learning through that. @@0Moh
So how often are you revisiting the older content (that youve not revisited in a while) alongside learning the new stuff? Do you do a session on a particular topic a week? Or revise some notes before bed? Only asking because I'm struggling with the same thing!
Right now... I am not revising it at all, as I have so much more to do for even learning new content and making videos! My plan is to push ahead with learning everything first, and then fill in all the gaps - I am doing this because after many years I know my strengths, and I am generally very good at retaining information, but can get stressed if I haven't covered things. So right now I'm focused on new, but will soon need to start recapping and revising.
This video just came up on my reccomendations and brought me straight back to a-levels last year - thank you for all that you did for my maths, best teacher out there ❤🫶

Another question as well, I saw some article where edexcel says the papers in 2023 would be more accessible than the 2019 (obviously meaning the grade boundaries would be higher but the 2019 papers were quite hard), is this applicable from 2023 or was it just for the 2023 series (for normal maths)

I have decided to inundate myself in the Mr Bicen lore (I swear I'm not procrastinating), and wow, 13 exams!! I can't imagine how valuable the insights from this experience will be for your teaching and our learning for the future!! I admire how much of a lifelong learner you are - it's so important. Echoing another comment: how often are you revisiting topics? After how long does it become important? I too want to get into the habit but I can't really just go back "when I feel rusty" because memory isn't constant, and my current work load exists too. Whatever it takes, I hope this counteracts my deeply ingrained procrastination and cramming habits. Also, how do you benchmark your current proficiency at a skill? The textbook "unit tests" are quite simple but trying exam questions right from the get-go seems redundant if you don't understand the content. Final burning question: how are you supplementing your study with exam practice? Are there any things you have learned regarding exam technique worth passing on to us? And how do you fit in exam practice if you don't have 2 and a bit hours handy? Thank you super duper much for the Google Drive by the way, it's my go-to for revision. Keep it up and good luck!!
Love this - yeah being a lifelong learner is something that is very important to me. In answer to your questions: - not revisiting topics as much as I would want to right now - I have a tight schedule on learning a huge volume and also planning and teaching them with videos - so the luxury of reviewing is being cut for now, which I wouldn't recommend to others, but I'm in a different position to most - benchmarking my proficiency - I only will record videos on a topic if I am confident that I know everything about it, otherwise I would never share that with my subscribers/members. I know that I am proficient as I can do all the recent exam questions, and am able to explain things more deeply than the textbook does - right now, not doing a ton of exam practice - learning 6 FM modules in a matter of months and also teaching them is very demanding! More on this as we get closer to the exams...
How will the Trigonometry session on Thursday, 15th February, be different from what you have in your playlist? Also, my son does not break up until the 16th, so he may not be able to attend on that day. Can he get access to the videos after the live session?
I have spent quite some time thinking about the types of questions that can be asked, and how to approach them most effectively. It is very exams focused so has the intention of formalising the learning in the playlist for the exam. If he is already excellent and so comes away feeling “I could do all that”, effectively this gives him my seal of approval that he’s ready with the topic and can feel confident to focus elsewhere - but there’s definitely some real challenge and good advice in there! Apologies for long explanation, wanted to give you full information so you can decide what works best. Yes half terms didn’t line up well this year - there is a recording of session, plus additional take away questions and video solutions for them too - well over 2 hours content. Thanks!

Sure, I’ll explain with FP2, as things like FS1, D1 and D2 I didn’t do at A-Level or at uni! FP2 Chapter 1 - number theory, covered at uni partially, but didn’t look at Fermat’s little theorem or combinatorics Chapter 2 - group theory, covered at uni only Chapter 3 - complex numbers, last studied it when I was 18! Chapter 4 - recurrence relations, never studied it before, at A-Level or uni Chapter 5 - matrices, some studied at A-Level, did more at uni, but never came across things like Cayley-Hamilton theorem for example Chapter 6 - integration techniques, only did reduction formulae at A-Level, hadn’t done arc length or surface area anywhere before (but I was aware of it and the formula) Let me know if you have any more you want to know about!
