My converter was stolen and it greatly affected my life as a person on a pension. These thiefs should be treated the same way as horse thieves back in the day.
Totally agree.
Who is buying these catalytic converters? They should also be charged with buying stolen property.
Problem is, many go directly overseas by bulk dealers. All it takes is a fake car salvage yard / tow yard business to make the sellers of the stolen items look legit to a legal bulk buyer.
In Ohio, the scrap yard, where I take my scrap items. I'm registered in their computer system with my drivers license. I must show my drivers license and have my picture taken when I exchange scrap for cash every time.
Nobody is buying the converters it’s the materials inside of the conveyers is what people are buying.
CHINA
@@Mike44460Same here. Cat convert thefts stopped after new laws
Using a sawsall does not require "high skill"
No but it does require some skill I have seen idiots in the world site really mess things up or get practically no where because they are so inexperienced that they put 0 pressure and it's basically just rubbing the frame instead of cutting 😂 now I'll concede it is low skill and definitely not high skill but definitely not a no skill
Idk back when I was doing trades work a lot of the guys using em just mangled the fuck out of whatever they were working on.
I take it you missed the part where he talked about their level of planning just prior to the comment? I think there are a lot of people WITH VERY LITTLE listening skills these days.
Smart criminals don’t get caught they become politicians
whooooo well said oh so true
DJT
Smart criminals work for the department of justice
that doesnt make any sense here. retar
Idiots that do nothing sit at home making trite comments on UA-cam rather than trying to improve the situation.
They aren't that professional anytime they park their car in the parking lot so it can be tracked down
That's dumb and careless
great advice
They typically use stolen cars for their criminal activities
Piles of shit!
Mine got took last year here in Roseville California and because of California smog i had to pay $6000 to get a new one put on. Insane. Cost as much as a cheap car!
Good lord !!! That's insane.....sorry this happened. Wow.
U got ripped off twice then.
$6000 for a cat
What car do you drive ?
You can put a high flow cat on for like 60$ and car works exact same
Someone ripped you off
Instead of going after the people actively stealing them.
Why not go after the people BUYING them.
There should be far steeper fines(or jail time) if you're caught selling them, or buying them.
trihard 7
20 years commited , perminent loss of driver lic. $100,000 fine.
in California $900 worth used converter. cops will not come to arrest you😝
For the *first* offence and then it increases.
These dudes got me twice
On two of my work trucks then we welded cages around the cats.
So, the criminals don’t have names? I wonder who’s being paid off to keep them anonymous?

I was a victim out of Marlborough. My vehicle held TWO Catalytic converters because it was a California emissions car. I didn’t even know I had two, until they were stolen. I always look under my car now before I get in.
Are you looking under the car for a thief?!?!
Why? As soon as you start the car you’ll know if they were stolen.
@@Redspeciality What if the person is under there mid theft?
Sounds like a real genius. Smart enough to document every crime . I’m sure prosecutors loved how smart he was.
Highly skilled? It takes no skill to use a sawzall.
Exactly, the authority is a complete joke
Agreed
What about if you use a Skill Sawzall?😂
@@ftmt9568 Good one. Does Skill still make tools?
@@lowandslow3939 don't know...but it seemed appropriate at the time...
I sure how that whom ever was buying these converters was also prosecuted. The thieves should also be charged for removing a catalytic converter under federal law which carries a stiff penalty.
The federal law is more concerned with people taking off catalytic converters and replacing them with straight pipes. If it was illegal to remove the catalytic converter, then shops would not be able to remove and replace them. You can cut yours off too and, it wouldn't be illegal until you drove the vehicle. There are plenty of laws already on the books to charge these thieves. It is illegal for a criminal to cut off your catalytic converter because it's theft, not because they modified your exhaust.
Catalytic theft has totaled many vehicles with many owners abandoning their cars because of it.
These thieves should be financially held liable for every single theft in addition to jail time for grand larceny.
So stealing is considered a skill now.
Getting elected takes skill yes.
Wow! This small group had a huge impact. INSANE!
If measures were put in place for the buyers this crap never would have happen. Proof of purchase, license Id, etc.
Thank you for solving this- a crime with victims usually doesn’t receive this much attention. Very nice work.
He should never be allowed to be in a free society again.
Well that's insane because cops out a lady's face in ants in handcuffs maybe all cops should charge the same cell for the rest of all their life's
@@PitHead-dh9qo shmuck that lady
All that to get them into court and the judge gives them six months probation and a stern talking to.
crime has to stay high. job security to police, lawyers, judges, attorney general, prison officials...These are some of the high paying jobs in USA.....so good luck with that
Lifer in prison will be appropriate….
They won't even get 2 years in prison especially if they don't have a criminal record
That's a little extreme
And all thanks to the no-bail release policies, every last one will walk out of custody a free man within the hour!
Who's fault? Lawmakers and authorities. Forced businesses to keep receipts of the purchased and give them fines for reselling stolen goods! Lock up thieves for 10 years minimum and they won't do it again
well it would more so be about hounding the car market to drive that price down since the cost to make is extremely cheap
It happened to one of my friends' business. It cost business lots of money and he was piss! Trucks couldn't drive to lose lots of business! Good jobs!
How about the FBI investigate Politicians for inside trading
its funny they act overly competent when catching peasants but have no clue when it comes to bankers financial crimes or rich peopple tax fraud.
Nothing to do with anything on this video …
Please keep us updated on Court proceedings
pack the pipe full of tnt lol, i'm 71 when i was a kid we lived in a 4 family flat. the man upstairs had his car battery stolen twice, the third time with the guy over his new battery he put a deer arrow thru his back, the guy lived and the neighbor went to the gray bar hotel
25 years in jail please!
They need to pay for that bakery to open back up
They should regulate the purchasing of these. You need to show ID to sell them and you can only sell one per month, plus you have to prove where you got it from.
cities are using concrete sewer lids cause the steel ones are stolen, they make good barbell weights.
I won’t lie if I saw a weight bar with sewer plates in the flea market I’d probably buy it
Chances are the charges will be reduced. If the criminals get a good Mississippi Defense Attorney and they don't have prior convictions, there is a strong possibility of no prison time for them. The Judicial System is not what it used to be.
They BUY their blades and batteries? Amateurs.
Its a crime why station has no mug shots?
Let's see the perps pictures. Unsatisfying. And it took waaaaaay too long to catch them.
Who's buying the converters?
Show their faces like other states. What are you afraid of, show their faces.
20 years to life for cat thieves
I expect him to get less than 10 years and be out to start another crime ring in no time.
Hatch was chock full of cats
nice work. I lost 4 converters off of my Chevy express vans. PUNKS !
They cut the converrter off the vehicle next to mine HONDa crv 2000. In NH apt complex
My dad told me as a kid, "Fools names and fools faces always appear in public places." Who did not get shown or named in this video? Who did?
What happened to them?
Weekends picking up trash.......
They pled guilty
So they'll be doing time in a Federal penitentiary.
@@305jarhead8 Federal ... no. Not even State. A big fine and probation. Federal is for real criminals.
This is great, now let's hope they don't get the Alvin Bragg treatment and get their charges reduced.
Pleading down to a burnt out tail light.
Reduced theft May also be from heightened patrols & law-enforcement behavior.
10 yrs in prison! No parole! That will stop it!
Off with his hands
Well done! Just a drop in the bucket though. Federal laws need to require anyone in the US buying used catalysts to commit a felony if no proof of origin and ownership was provided by seller.
No pictures or names of the criminals???????
Just self glorifying themselves after many victims 🎉
They won't show faces because of the certain demographic physical description of the perps involved.
They posted the name of the ringleader.
youtube wont let me post the truth.
💯
The truth is a bunch of scumbag thieves ripping off innocent people for drug money because they are too stupid and lazy to get a real job
this is a 'safe speech' zone, not a free speech zone
@bradfordjhart Woke speech zone, there, I fixed it for.
Like the non existent war coverage smh.
Hope they get sentenced to the max. As a former mechanic, the bill to repair / replace these stolen cats is extremely expensive; a bill many hard working folks can not afford.
How bout the people buying them
These detective makes these crime sound so serious by making these criminal sound so smart lol
The good guys are always telling the bad guys. How to do the crime best. What a trip.
Thank you
It bullshit that each convertor is a felony
"Highly skilled." LMAO. You could literally train a money to cut a converter off.
When will Criminals Stop with All of their Hair-Brained Ideas ?😂
They had fresh blades! And new batteries... 😮amazing! Lol (sarcasm)
Did these guys get sentenced to home on probation for 2yrs? Because that what they would get in CA.
Let the victims know where these thiefs live
People I know who have been victimized don’t want to waste public resources on the criminal justice system. They just want 5 minutes.
So how much time will they get?
Car manufacturers are going to have to redesign where they have these things located in the future. If it takes legislation to make them, then so be it. The apathetic attitude of "everyone will be driving electric by then, so why bother" is not realistic, as we are probably another century away from that for everyone.
The 5 minutes they spend in jail will teach them a lesson.
They have to stay at least long enough for one meal.
They said he would be held accountable 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Spot prices for precious metals are rising. Watch the cat thefts go up.
Good thing these crooks got caught
Only a person who does not know how to use a saw thinks it’s a special skill. 😂
The government is to blame because they don't create stricter laws for these types of criminals. How I miss the Wild West :)
"Highly skilled, Smart"..........so we are basically living the Movie Idiocracy.
Give all thieves a choice, tattoo thief across your forehead or lose a finger?
love that idea
Thumbs and index fingers, not gonna be using a sawsall after that or flipping omelettes .
Crime Ring, RICO Charges.
Maybe let the victims do the punishment not the courts ..as other people on the comment’s below who bought them ? List their names and and show the photos or mug shot photos .. I feel safe knowing Federal government is on this case 😂
No names or faces ?
What’d they get. 3 weeks public service.
Put an air tags in those converter
Oh this is the first time this has happened huh
I would hazard a guess that if the top of hoodies was mandated to be clear/transparent street crime would drop 50%.
Man I bet my sheeeet was in there
People do this because they know they will get a slap on the wrist
Game over cathalitic thieves
Usual suspects
Good thing my car has no cats 😉
How many of those catalytic converters equal to millions of dollars bruh how many do you need to pocket about a million dollars
just criminals and the scrap purchasers any junk yard has a cashflow.
Now catch the rim thieves
where do they sell them an who buys them?
Headline States, Can runs over suspected catalytic converter thief. Owner says, the car has a manual transmission with Bluetooth remote engine start. I must have accidentally left it in gear with the parking brake off. The timer on the fuel pump only runs 2 seconds without the password. Something must have triggered the remote start. Reporter, this was a recipe for an unfortunate accident 😮. Good news, the Auto repair shop welded the converter back on.
Finally..
I got mine converter stolen few months ago..
I had a catylitc converter stolen a few years back, they need to go after the scrap yards that buy from these people. They have to know there stolen
Lock up the people that made converter so expensive.
It’s the rare earth metals that are in them that make them valuable. Higher costs of production higher costs for consumers
