    I love the green / orange combo you got going
    I'm doing the same with my new green 2020 griz.
    (FYI you can order the side sticker decals for a 2020 camo griz and it has orange letters $12 each on partzilla, in case you're interested)

    Hi Pohlhammer! Been watching your videos for 5 years now. Got my self a 2018 Griz 700 a couple years ago after watching you for a couple years. Thanks! Question about the rear box, I want to buy one and install a 2 gal RotoPax gas caddy on the top of the list externally. Do you think it would hold up to the weight? I am doing this now with a aftermarket box but after 6000 miles it's getting tired. I'm sure the extra weight takes it's toll. But wondering how strong the Yamaha boxes are and how strong those hinges might be. Thanks! Love your mods!

    Hey fella, I've got the same quad but in camo. Wondering roughly how many km or miles you get to a tank trail riding, just ball park. I've only used mine around the farm but looking too hit the trails and wondering how much distance I can cover and how many jerry cans I need to take. Thanks, enjoy your in depth vids.

    • @POHLHAMMER
      @POHLHAMMER 8 років тому +1

      Nice choice ! Around 100 miles on a tank , but that's very dependent on riding style/speed/terrain.
      so it may range from 70-110 miles. Travel a half tank away , turn back and track how much you used.. carry a sm can until you figure out your range. Ride safe , Go Yamaha !!

  • @jarednelson1865
    @jarednelson1865 8 років тому

    Thanks for the information on the filter. Do you oil the foam area that presses against the air box? Also, do you put grease around foam up front as well? I live in Idaho and ride a lot of sand and the dust is HORRIBLY fine up here. I gotta be careful or I will suck dirt and cook the motor. Thanks again for your response!

    • @POHLHAMMER
      @POHLHAMMER 8 років тому

      To be honest , I have been riding in not so heavy of dust lately , and have only swapped mine once.. I would say the more oil the better , as it will just drain off into the bottom of your air box anyways. Grease probably would not hurt either.. Any extra you do , I am sure aint a bad thing.. I will have to do a good lookover on mine , and see what I come up with. Buy a extra one like me ,, and that way you can swap out alot more often , and more easily. The more you change it ,, the better. I should really have changed mine more often than I have,, and if I was riding in sand and dust , I would have. Thanks for watching !

    ok, I just bought a new 17' brute force and am looking to buy Elka shocks. other people are saying get 4 or 5 stage. you went 3 stage front and 4 stage back. is there an advantage to that? if I am going to spend the money, better to do it right the first time. instead of thinking "I should of done that." really liking the brute. blurp

    • @POHLHAMMER
      @POHLHAMMER 7 років тому

      Dan Krueger stage 3 or 4 are darn near same. 4 just has rebound adjustment (which I have never touched).
      Stage 5 ,, overkill. You will be perfectly happy with stage 3's. Stage 4 if you want a little more adjustability.

    • @jacobbradley9419
      @jacobbradley9419 7 років тому

      I have the same setup on an '05 rincon, and I absolutely love it. The stage threes and fours really soak up the big bumps, and I have really pounded it off of some gnarly whoops and jumps, and I have yet to find the bottom of the travel. Best thousand bucks I ever spent, except maybe after tires.

    Jesus man, you really do have that thing modded ! Im selling my 2008 soon and getting a new 16 or 17. Why did you get a programmer? I've heard they run lean and you almost need it, true? Loved the air compressor and 2nd battery, although I could help you clean up that wiring (haha), you did an amazing job ! deff going to come back to this video when I get my new bike. • @JohnnyRebKy
      @JohnnyRebKy 7 років тому

      just about ANY engine from the factory runs lean. EPA Emissions regulations. Factory tune is lean to meet the requirements. Re programming whether its a motorcycle, atv, lawn mower.....whatever.....most always results in a bit more power and cooler running temperature

    • @Maritimer
      @Maritimer 7 років тому

      thank you for the info ! appreciate it. So do you think it will effect the reliability? I don't care about more power, just want reliability. Also do the Can-am/Popo all run lean too?

    • @POHLHAMMER
      @POHLHAMMER 7 років тому

      Agreed , running a tuner will benifit your engine performance , and Reliability. I would imagine all brands run lean.

    Hi,
    Did you do the AIS delete? Did it help with the backfiring on deleleration. It seems that the grizzly is lean in stock form. Is a fuel commander necessary to fix this? I just bought a new 2017 Grizz and it pops when coming off the throttle. I find it annoying. The bike is complelely stock. Thanks for your help!

    • @POHLHAMMER
      @POHLHAMMER 7 років тому

    Hey, I just bought a 2016 SE today. I really wanted the metallic carbon color, so drove to two states looking at the last two available within 500 miles. It didn't even have a mile on it, and had been in the showroom the whole time. My concern is there are a few places that has the smallest rust on it. Inside of the wheel, corner section of a rack, etc. is this okay? Do I just put grease on the areas? Anything else I need to look out for?

      Ahhh we have a brimstone here in pa 2 lol how did you mount your rotopax on the front rack

    • @POHLHAMMER
      @POHLHAMMER 8 років тому

      I used a pc of flat stock alum , and riveted it across the front rack.. Then I mounted the Rotopax Mount to that.

    I've heard the eps go out of the grizzly when dif lock is engaged

    • @POHLHAMMER
      @POHLHAMMER 8 років тому +1

      You heard wrong. It will be harder to steer , because both wheels spin at same speed , so they dont want to turn. Power steering still makes a BIG difference with it locked. People think Polaris Power steering works better , but thats because the diff lock only works when your really stuck.. but on the Yamaha it can be left on , and once your out of the mud hole it becomes hard to steer , until you shut diff lock off. Commen misconception.

      +CrimsonBloodStar I would sell them , and possibly look into Kenda Executioner if you want to keep less expensive. I have them on my Grizzly 400 , and really like them.. They are a not as high end as the XTR's , but work well. Stock rims are fine. Good choice buying Yamaha ,
      Thanks for watching !

    • @POHLHAMMER
      @POHLHAMMER 8 років тому

      +CrimsonBloodStar If you go with 27" tires , you should be fine. Maybe a clutch shim , which is VERY easy to do , and cheap. It lowers your gear ratio slightly , and gives you back some low end grunt. Check out GrizzlyCentral.com , lots of good info. You are going to love your Grizz.

    • @POHLHAMMER
      @POHLHAMMER 8 років тому

      +CrimsonBloodStar The Executioner tires will run a bit ruffer down the rd , than the XTR's.

      +CrimsonBloodStar Bighorns are great tires , more for rocky hard packed terrain. The Executioner tires are goung to be better in the mud. Both Great tires !

    That's not a 20 gallon gas can bud, I'm guessing its 2.5 to 3 gallons. Love the look of your Grizzly though, I almost brought one but choose the 2016 King Quad instead.

I grew up riding Honda motorcycles and atv's but now I own a 2008 Arctic Cat 650 H1 TRV 4x4 and a 2005 Suzuki Eiger 400 4x4 Nice Yamaha Grizzly you have there, good luck and be safe.

    Having a low speed and high speed is a complete waste of money. It's a 600lbs machine you'll Never get them actually dialed in. Should have saved money with the compression and rebound basic setup.. Imo.

      Nick Giuseppetti Actually its running a HMF fuel tuner , HMF Swamp series Exhaust , K&N performance air intake , and a 2mm clutch shim. It will stand wheelies no problem , and goes well over 60mph. The new 708 grizz , running a tuner and pipe , will beat a 850 twin head to head in a race.
      Thanks for watching !

    • @dankruger2890
      @dankruger2890 7 років тому

      not sure if you have ridden a 850 or raced one, but they get up and move. my experience with riding a 16' Yamaha stock 708 is slow take off, ok mid range and after 40mph its slow. if a 16' Yamaha is going to out perform a 850 it going to need a lot more than a pipe and tuner to even get close to an 850. technically the grizz has to gain 29hp to get to the 77hp Polaris 850 has. simply not happening. a twin also puts the power to the ground quicker. I have seen a one 700 grizz on you tube take a 850 in a race but that thing was seriously beefed up with mods I don't even understand.
